In an interview, JunHan said this: “If ‘Hello, World!’ was an album that represented the beginning of [our] universe, ‘Overload’ is an album where we start to see the evil side within us and re-consider our identity as a hero.” This album talks about all the feelings and conflicts inside of them that made them feel overloaded. Quick explanation of the tracks: [Zzz..] alternates between nonsensical lyrics, to give the impression that you’re listening to a person sleep talking, and wishes to stay asleep forever. [Hair Cut] talks about cutting away the anxiety and bad feelings inside of you as if you were cutting your hair. It explains how hair covers our vision and blocks out light when it grows too long (negativity). [LUNATIC] is a focal song for XH’s identity crisis - “‘Cause I’m not a superman but lunatic” from the lyrics [Crack in the Mirror] lyrics depict the confusion that arises when someone realizes that they are losing themselves and feeling like a stranger to their own reflection. It talks about the theme of reflection and identity. The "crack" within the mirror signifies the disruption in one's self. [Ghost] talks about the ghostly presence of a past relationship that continues to haunt and torment the narrator. The track personifies self-doubt as a ghost that mocks and footsteps that creep behind you. [X-MAS] which is one of my favorites b-side is a track which uses elements from classic Christmas songs to create a suspenseful tale about hiding from a sinister force on Christmas day. The song seems to be a twisted and dark take on the holiday spirit. This album's actually one of the biggest reasons I became their fan. I love how experimentally good their music is! JunHan the Lead Guitarist btw is my bias. He's an amazing guitarist, I was sold after hearing his riffs/solo.
omg yay you're back with the overload album! ^^ haven't finished the video yet but the banana and goose lyrics on zzz are meant to be gibberish and they don't really make sense, as if they're sleep talking. also "wild goose" is a palindrome in korean, hence the lyrics "A wild goose, even if you flip it's still a wild goose". this song is so fun haha
i'm sooo glad you liked this album!! i think it showcases their more "experimental" phase since they're still finding and discovering their sound. some consider it as their least favorite, but i personally love and appreciate this album and i wish they made more "experimental" songs but at the same time, i really love the direction they're currently heading towards. i might be biased but every song of theirs have been a hit after hit for me. they do have lore! but i'm still quite unfamiliar so i don't think i'm the best person to tell you all about it, but it does have something to do with virtual reality. thank you so much for checking them out again! i enjoyed this reaction a lot!! i can't wait for you to get into the next three albums cause they're personally my favorites, especially their most recent one (troubleshooting). much love to you and your channel!
Its so hard to rank it but this is my second favorite, Troubleshooting being my top favorite, but honestly all of them are no skip albums! I will keep my eyes out for the poll, how fun! I really like your reaction videso, I feel like you add fun commentary along with your reaction which I feel some channels just watch it, but I feel like your reaction adds something!
thank you for another great reaction!! and don't worry, you pronounced the names great. that lyric in zzz is *supposed* to make no sense, as the korean title is sleep talking! but at the same time, it does actually have a meaning; as it states if you flip a wild goose (gireogi) it's still a wild goose because if you take the characters in gireogi and read it backwards, it's still gireogi. they do have a storyline, which i unfortunately do not have much knowledge about 😭 but key things are ♭form (flatform) is a virtual world where they can freely rock out but it eventually comes to despise & kick out(?) xdinary heroes (they rig the system in test me and vandalize the garden in haircut, which causes the police to get called) and it continues throughout their next mvs, if you want to keep an eye out for that! glad these lyric videos actually got most of the members right, excluding some mix ups here and there, they did a great job! i looove overload as an album, with xmas and lunatic being my top songs on there. i am excited for both covers and deadlock, i'll be keeping an eye out for the poll! happy to see you loving xdinary heroes, and that you've taken a liking to jooyeon! once you get into their non-music stuff, you'll see that he's chaos in human form. i really enjoy your reactions, welcome to being a villain!!
To elaborate on that a little bit, there were little introductory clips of each member pre-debut that set up this loose storyline in which the members all play offline individually and then form the band in VR on the ♭form network. So pretty much all their title track videos up to their Livelock album are set in this virtual reality (notable exceptions being the videos for the b-sides Good Enough and Dear H from the Deadlock album), in which they struggle against this system and are more and more criminalised while also gaining infamy. Only in the promotion video for their Troubleshooting album do they break from this and seem to meet in real life for the first time. Apparently there's a theory going around that this would mean that the events of the Happy Death Day video happen AFTER Troubleshooting, since we see them interact there offline as well as online, but I don't know too much about that or if that has been confirmed in any way.
@@luthienmpl ahh i see, thank you! and i think hdd happening after troubleshooting is pretty much confirmed, as spotted in a photo during troubleshooting that they're looking for artists to perform at a bday party
really glad you appreciated gaon and o.de's rap parts. imo they're actual killers in the group bc they rap AND sing amazingly good, their voices can show many-many different colors and tones and often they carry entire verses of the songs while jungsu and jooyeon rock the choruses. and to not forget junhan singing through his guitar (even tho now he became more confident and actually sings at the concerts) and gunil setting whole rythm for everyone. it's like this band is a perfect set of people to create legendary music and literally ROCK THE WORLD ^^
i started my journey with xdh from livelock, 4th mini-album, months before i became familliar with the band, so it would always remain no.1 for me, but after that - overload and haircut mv pulled me in to discover and stan. so yeah tha's my second best album and recently it's actually fighting with their 1st full album, troubleshooting, released in april this year. and the rest of the albums are amazing as well SO that's what i talked about it being impossible to choose/rank xdh's releases ;( they're THAT good
one thing i love about listening to kbands is that is so easy to remember names based on their instruments... even if they change hair or makeup i will always know who is who and slowly get used to them!!
Still, my fave album from them. 😭 everytime I hear them with these songs, my heart skips for some time. They've come so far! I'm happy you are enjoying them. 🖤🖤 If only uou knew their personality. You will appreciate them much more! Jooyeon indeed always steals the hearts of the viewers. But believe me, they are all worth stanning! Time for a guide!😂
i'm not sure if it's better to check out the whole discography first and then get to covers or the opposite or in between. maybe while you catch-up with releases you'll grow more familiar with members and the chemistry of the group, so you'll be able to appreciate covers to the fullest. and if check them out first, you will get very strong and pleasant impression anyway sooooo idk. to fall in love with jooyeon completly i can recommend the cover of impossible by nothing but thieves (: it's like a trap or a rabbit hole for jooyen-biased people lol. it also would be fun if you could react to the original first and then check out cover right away but it might be hard with different copyright polices of different artist so :( it still would be more full expirience if you would be familiar with the original outside the recording, that would demonstrate how good xdh are at arranging and doing covers, adding their own color like it's their own songs - and honestly it's mind-blowing
amazing reaction, thank you. can't wait for you to get to the rest of their discography bc every single album is a gem, it's legitmatly hard to pick a favorite or choose what album would disappear to save the others bc literally each one is amazing and unrepeatable. and it's unbelievable how young they are but already releasing such non-skip albums every single time. i discovered them only couple months ago and i keep getting "mad" from how good their music is, like it's IMPOSSIBLE yet real and i can't keep up to savour every song and ep... never imagined _that would be my problem and not the opposite like usual. sooooo xdh IS a gem band
after doing reactions to the albums maybe start on the covers then :) try looking for a playlist of their covers they've done a lot but all on different channels and some only at concerts
Ode is pronounced 'Ohd', like the English word 'ode', really :D Sound a bit like 'old' hahaha The others are more or less said as Joo-yon (you're correct), Gah-on (two syllables), Gun-ill (gun as in a firearm), John-soo (you're doing okay!), and Joon-han/Joon-an (not 'jan') This is my favorite out of their mini-albums :X It had been out for a little while when I discovered them, and it took a while for Deadlock to come out after that, so I listened to it so freaking much it's burned in my brain at this point. I can explain the storyline at some point if you're interested, lemme know!

Legit X-mas was not what I expected when I first listened to it! Def one of my favorites!
yeahhh that's how "jooyeon magic" works like (: he's super talented and it's impossible to not notice him at first and forever

xmas and ghost, always be my favorite bside songs!!
and yeah jooyeon also my bias because of his voice, i think he became my favorite vocalist in kpop
I’m loving your XH journey! Thank you for sharing it with us! Jooyeon is my bias as well!
Glad you enjoy it!
