I would add his 1962 film, Lonely Are The Brave. His performance in it is a tour de force and the movie was actually his personal favorite too. His son, Michael, would even make a later film, Falling Down, that shares many thematic elements with it. Kirk Douglas was a master of explosive acting. I'd say he(alongside Burt Lancaster & James Cagney) pioneered & perfected that intense acting style that you would later see in the likes of of many great actors after them(Jack Nicholson comes to mind, who coincidentally played the character in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest that Kirk Douglas originated on the stage first). This was a fantastic list. Kirk Douglas definitely is one of the greats!

Lonely Are The Brave is great! And thanks so much, I appreciate it!
The Big Sky is a Kirk Classic
Love that movie! A great Hawks film.
Spartacus
No Spartacus? Unbelievable.
It's a fun movie but I decided to focus on Paths of Glory instead, which I'd argue is the superior Kubrick film.
