    I own this bike, can't complain about its performance, for a small bike on a budget, this is by far the best.
    Great review.

    Fellow Perthite! Great vid! Been trying to find the perfect starter bike for a while now. Was good to have seen a video like this to help steer me in the right direction. This bike, other than the grom, is the only bike that I've felt completely at ease sitting on. Getting my first lesson on one of these tomorrow.

    I returned to motorcycling and wanted a small commuter so I bought a used mt-03 (6500 kms). It is a great city bike; fantastic engine that can cruise along or get frenetic if wanted. Brakes and handling are adequate, nothing more (brakes are no improvement on my old 1981 Suz gs450). Economical, agile and stable. Mine has a slight clutch issue where a significant part of the take up occurs in the last 1mm of lever travel. Good review

    One things as well is, even with a big guy on it. You can slowly let the clutch out in first, and even without throttle, when you let it fully out it won’t stall

    First ride today! What a bike! Like it was made, just for me.

      hey rob, what would you consider as a cruising speed in 6th gear? i mean what speed would you maintain comfortably (not killing the engine) on the freeway and how long/far would you feel it's defendable to maintain?

      This or the ninja 300 which is the better bike.. The Yamaha is better looking I reckon.

      @@___blaggard999___8 I only tried the Ninja 250 so can't quite say which is better, but the Yamaha was more comfortable to ride on for me. I also like the design of the mt more. The Yamaha was also easier to turn around corners. The Ninja felt more stable when riding straight at a fast speed.

    I'm a born-again biker - had an SV650 but woz too heavy and I never used to power - so considering the MT03 for my next bike - fast enough and not too heavy.

      I am also considering a the Yamaha MT 03 as my next bike, I need a A2 bike that is not too expensive! I am looking at the Yamaha Mt 03, Kawasaki Z300 or the brand new Honda CB300R ( I think its the best looking bike ) I don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3 Japanese brands! Quality all the way.

    I ride the newer version MT03 for my lessons. Pretty much the same engine I believe. Goes nicely, more than enough speed and acceleration for the suburbs. Bit concerned on a windy day going above 90km/h though as I am a light rider at 65kg. Gearbox seems bullet proof after what I put it through.
    I live in that same suburb too BTW.

    I an in love with this bike, I am going to get it later in the year for my first bike. From what I have read new ot is anout $6500 in aus.

      chroniclesofsolid I read a review of the MT-07 by aome motorbike magazine and despite the fact that it is also learners permited here in aus, they said that they wouldn't recommend it for new learners as it would likely have too much power. The MT-03 is perfect for me. I don't want to be overwhelmed.

    • @chroniclesofsolid

      Sounds like you have your head on your shoulders, too many people get caught up in spec sheet racing.
      I have ridden both and I actually had more fun on the MT-03. It is just so easy to ride and that is what I would want as a first bike; something capable, manageable, and fun.

      See if you can test-ride them both if you feel confident enough. I got the MT03 for 7 months now and although its a fun little bike the power delivery does get a bit dull after a while.

    Yup would buy it if Yamaha would adv it, I am sure they could find a frame from the dual sport or dirt bikes that could do the trick.. don't even need a daring...

      Hopefully Yamaha will consider it now that Kawasaki has put the ninja 300 engine in a mini adventure bike :-D

      My money's on a Tracer version. Yamaha did it with the MT-09 and MT-07. MT-03 could be next.

    Thinking of upgrading to this one day in the future, currently on a CFMoto 150-A Leader. Its good but the lack of power is killing me, plus its a rough ride. Though BMW have that new G310 and Honda have the 250 and KTM have there 390 so I'm kinda spoilt for choice honestly, i think a 300cc bike would suit me as I'm not looking to ever go over 120km/h and I generally just ride around town.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  7 років тому

      Yep a lot of great little bikes coming out you will really be spoiled for choice :-)

    My thoughts are shifting between Mt03 and Z300 for my first bike ... what would you recommend?

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  4 роки тому +1

      I have not ridden the Z300 but I would suggest going and sitting on them both and seeing which one you gives you the tingles. Even better get a test ride but I know thats hard to organise when its your first ride. Ultimately each of those bikes is a great choice.

    I'm very much considering getting a smaller bike like this. I think it would be fun to try and modify it and make it your own. The only problem is I'm sure its not going to be released in the states. Have you driven the Honda CB300f? I wonder how it would compare.

    • @chroniclesofsolid
      @chroniclesofsolid  8 років тому

      +Kamotion No I have not ridden the CB300F, given that it is a single I would guess it would not be as engaging. Tried the ninja/Z 300 that's a little Twin like the Yamaha? Kawasaki also announced this little gem with the same engine, very exciting 😎 www.advpulse.com/adv-bikes/2017-kawasaki-versys-x-300/ The American market does not seem to like small bikes.

    @Roadstar1602 7 років тому

    I'd buy one of these in a second for my daughter if it were available in the US. Neither this nor the Kawasaki Z300 are available here. I have no idea why not. The only bike like it here is the Honda CB300F.
