    I never found the Gen 1 Raptor brakes to have the sneeze factor you mentioned about. Having worked at ford and now an owner of the Gen 1 so I personally have a lot of seat time in it.
    But yes the Gen 2 driving position is MUCH better and the tech is 🤤

    Hi Wheels Australia, I've just seen the CURRENT AFFAIR regarding the issues of the current FORD RANGER. Issues such as suddenly braking at 80 km/h, dash board screen showing nothing and poor customer service. In your future videos, COULD YOU PLEASE INCLUDE CURRENT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE (any vehicles) and WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS DOING ABOUT IT (fixes). Your videos influences how our hardworking Australians buy their knew vehicles. You will provide GREAT SERVICE to our community by providing not just the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE reviews about the vehicle but also the actual issues with it. This way, the MANUFACTURERS can be put on notice, up their standards and giving the manufacturers the idea CUSTOMER SERVICE should be their number one priority. Now that's a concept, PASSIONATE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    this thing is a beast, looks awesome almost as good as the F150 but cheaper and more economical on fuel, i just hope it can handle jumps as well as the f150

    Excellent report Alex and yes I think this is high on my radar for my next vehicle. Online there’s been some Ranger criticism that I would prefer a Wheels comment on because I trust your opinion. Whether these are not an issue with the Raptor I don’t know.
    Are there vibration issues with the driveline?
    Is the gear box fragile?

    Where did the figure of 0-100 in just over 6 seconds come from? I’ve read in different places 5.6sec?

    • @WheelsAustralia
      @WheelsAustralia  Рік тому +6

      Hi Kade, around the six second mark is what Ford's engineering team is claiming. Ford doesn't list an 'official' 0-100; it says it's up to us to strap the timing gear on, which we plan to do ASAP.

    Great video! one thing though, did I hear you say that is is tougher than any ute you have driven? Have you driven a 79? The raptor might be way more comfortable and techy but unlikely to be the toughest on the market.

    • @WheelsAustralia
      @WheelsAustralia  Рік тому +1

      We're talking tough from a sort of 'muscle car' perspective, rather than enduring everything you can throw at it over years of ownership. We agree the 79 is probably the boss in that regard.

    Can you explain why the transfer switch has the option for 2h? Ford are saying this car is full time 4wd. Surely they wouldn't leave the 2h button there if it doesn't work

    • @WheelsAustralia
      @WheelsAustralia  Рік тому +3

      Joel, 2H definitely works. You can have the new Raptor as a rear-driver only all the way to VMAX. And the ESC and T/C can be turned all the way off, too, so it can be a drift machine should you want it. The system defaults to 4-Auto which is rear drive until it detects slip then there's also 4H and 4L. Hope that helps!

    Really wish the raptor had the V6 diesel. Would have been great to have that coil suspension for a softer ride and better articulation of road and the low down grunt of the Diesel

      The Ram 2500 is available with a inline 6 diesel and a coil spring rear suspension. The coil spring rear end isn't all that popular because it affects the payload rating.

    Now the negatives - I don't know where you would take advantage of all of this tech, in everyday motoring? Thirsty petrol engine is going to kill it for commuting and towing, which is down on every other ute on the market. Who can afford to bury the loud pedal with fuel costs going through the roof? Track width - it's just too wide for high country tracks, unless of course you don't care for bush pin striping and damaged tyre side walls. As an owner of the previous model Raptor, I can attest to this. Touring - again fuel price is going to hurt. There are better more economical diesel utes around for touring. Diff lock for front - why?? Diff locks are for crawling over terrain that's lacking in traction. This Raptor is not about crawling, it's about hitting the terrain hard and fast, where diff locks make no difference, or very, very little difference to forward traction. Would prefer to see the front diff lock offered in lesser models, ie Wildtrak. Raptor's natural terrain is wide open spaces like the Simpson desert. But you have to chew a lot of petrol just to get there - and someone else with a "normal" ute will need to carry your gear and fuel for you!

    When you refer to a petrol engine in kw, you have been a victim of a con game. Making batteries is far worse than gas emissions. Buying cars designed to be replaced entirely in fewer years is far worse. Love the Raptor. Hate the con job. All your politicians are doing is taking more from you while claiming absolute rubbish like they are saving the planet. I'll buy my Raptor, will do less harm, have more fun, and will literally be living a more sustainable life doing it.

      Electric motors have been sold by horsepower rating for a long time. Take garage door openers and electric pumps as examples. 1hp=~746 watts.

    It's not wise to make the car too wide unless the driver is a American gorilla.Wich is more likely to build for. Jungle offroad you're more likely to have narrow road and no gas station. Idiot build a petrol car for offroad? How far can we go? And it's ugly.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 7 місяців тому

      The Raptor line is intended to be a desert racer. The weight of a diesel would be an issue when doing 80+ mph across a desert. Range is about 435 miles/700km at highway speed.

    Why is no one talking about the reviewed fuel consumption? It's frustrating as fk. Yes, I get the you don't buy performance for fuel economy, I'm not asking about economy, I'm asking about general consumption to weight it up against other vehicles like the Y62 patrol. Manufacturers specifications are always based off best results, not always real world testing. It would be fantastic, if reviewers could give insight to this.
