There’s a point where “steep” becomes “oh my god I’m falling down the side of a mountain”
Ella Carroll this is that point
“Controlled falling” LOL
Blake Webster Or as Buzz Lightyear and Woody would say, “falling with style.”
every extreme sport has that one point of an "oh my god" moment... how a person deals with that moment.. is what makes them a pro in their respected sport.
illigeagly underrated
And GoPros make every thing look flatter
it's very hard to picture size and angle in nature.
that's already pretty steep with the gopro
Never sext with a go pro , and Go Pro has been making 60 foot surf look head high for years.
Waaht Ever ya right damm
Well tbf it IS flat. Its simply also veritcal
I consider myself an avid skier, but these guys are at the level I can't imagine possible. Wow.
What slopes do you frequent?
@@Christrulesall2 I mostly stay on Blue these days but often go on Black trails. I used to ski fast, but not anymore, after having a few injuries. Ski safe, my friend.
@@Openwrt2023 Likewise.
"I'm scared now" does seem like the right thing to say when you're skiing down this mountain.

That is something your wanna do when you plan to suicide rather then when you wanna have fun...

Thats the freakin dream! Skiing the gnarliest line of your life with your bud, and going home safe and sound with one HELL of a freakin story to tell! Awesome!
My dream too!!!
Dear "The New York Times"......You don't EVER "tame" mountains. Sometimes they're just nice enough not to kill you.
So true... This is a movie about our boys who were killed in a resort in Austria Off Piste Tragedy in the Alps on Vemeo

Laura Astle I am so sorry. May God bless their souls.
@@lauraastle3548 hi
@@lauraastle3548 beautiful documentary on the importance of having proper information and training. I'm so sorry for your loss, you guys had some amazing boys.
''That was nectar dude''
so freaking nectar dude!
haha so freakin' nectar!
i was just about to comment this..LOL
Narley
I was reading this exactly when he said that, perfect timing, lol.
What they call "sluff" is what normal people call an avalanche.
A sluff is a type of avalanche, but not the kind that most people think of. The by far most dangerous and by far most frequent type of avalanches are the slab avalanches.
Also it's pronounced "sla-oo".
No
@@MegaBanne thanks for the info brother.

“Am scared now”
Dude I was scared before hitting play on this video
Same
One of those clips that make you realize how boring life you have. These guys truly live to the fullest.
up untill they dont
Geef mijn portie maar aan Fikkie
I prefer living boring instead of going down a wall like that lol
if they need that sort of stimuli, not to be bored, imagine having to listen to their stories.....and not want to get away from them ? they have desensitized themselves from anything "normal". Thrill junkies is what they are.
@@Solphoenix live 100 days, or live none?
And I was screaming on green route. Wow
Lol
"Route"
Same I’m terrible
To S how does that even happen
@@Rpesca76 “route” lmao
I don't think the video really does any of that justice to how intense that stuff really is! I'm not say I've been there but, if I was it would be a state of paralysis frozen to that wall. They would be forced to come pick me up with the helicopter.
The guy doing this is a very experienced skier. If your not very experienced, they might be scrapping you off the wall. LOL!

That's the life I want to live someday, just riding the sickest of lines with your buds and getting paid. Sage and Ian are legends, and they inspire me to send it 24/7!
skivikepra 117 don’t do it, it’s dumb af
problem is there is a good chance you pay with your life
@@smnckl8602 oh my god this comment is 6 years old?? Crazy.
Funny thing is, you guys aren’t wrong. I did have many years of successful trick and riding progression, but in March 2020 I ended up fracturing 2 vertebrae in a bad crash. Luckily, the injuries healed without surgery and I’m back to full strength and able to ski again. I learned an invaluable lesson in safety and risk assessment, and a new appreciation and view on life. Stupid? Maybe. Would I take it back? Absolutely 100%. But I am thankful and much better off than many others who have suffered chasing their passions, and love life everyday.
@@1ironaut538 omg dude you replied with your experiences of 6 years. Just wow thank you so much for that.
Seen a lot of skiing in my lifetime and that was some of the best - good job you guys
Like you actually did that?
You guys are either crazy or lets say crazed...props to the pilot, he's an artist!
These videos are very inspiring. Thanks
Both are such great guys and amazing skiers!!!
isnt that called falling?
Controlled fall on skis above the fluffly snow. Even going down a 1 in 20 nursery slope at 7 miles an hour is falling. Falling or using the gravitation fall line is what a lot of ski is about. So whilst there is some falling it's called sking. Nadia Komenech was falling as she won Olympic gold. But what may look like a fall to some was her controlled dismount.
Michael Greenwood wooooosh
@@superslick9251 not really a woooosh but kinda ig
Michael Greenwood wow, what a reply!
No! It is called; controlled falling!
Dude, this is a thing only the best of the best can do, I have been skiing for about 5 years now and I also try some black slopes sometimes but that is next level. Huge Respect!
i’ve been skiing for 1 year 8 months and i do black diamonds
Bro I snowboarded for 6 days with no prior experience and was doing double blacks and jumping cliffs😭. Granted I did break a bone but it was worth it
just awesome Alaska! simply put, no place compares!!!
Amazing job guys! Congrats to the NYT for some honest reporting.
Absolutely incredible! Exciting! For all you skiers and boarders out there!
Wow. My pulse got racing just watching this.

You two are mountain warriors, I salute you
You two are absolutely insane! I can't imagine trying to ski where you guys do.
Im obviously not the skier these dudes are but its amazing as you get better what used to seem impossibly steep eventually becomes not a big deal.

There are not enough superlatives to describe just how good this is.
Wonderful skiing video, thanks for sharing 🙏
Is nobody talking about that expert heli pilot and his madman landing at 1:42?
Breath taking performance congratulations 👍

WOW! That's amazing.
Don't know what to even write. Insane but insanely talented!
I have skied stuff about 20% as difficult as this and had snow sluff all around my shoulders. It was only a quarter mile at most and while it was exciting, I will never do it again. These guys are amazing!
poetry. thanks for sharing.

That's insane - but amazing :)

Oh my ... How Crazy and Great is this :)
awesome
beautiful
many more guys thank you.
Great stuff.. !!
unbelievable!
Awesome video!
Super!
1:40 Says something like, "Can't see the line w/o good light." Made me remember snowmobiling on a sunny day and not seeing a 5-7' drift until it was 20' in front of me - no shadows. Gave it everything at 70 mph at landed it, but still stopped for a half hour to analyze/confirm how lucky I was. 7 others stopped after I went flying.
They don’t call it snowstationary for a reason
Nice...good to finish safe....pilot & crew too
That was nectar!
I love sking! It's a great channel I found by channel. I subscribeg to the channel.
I'm watching from Yokohama, 🇯🇵Japan.
“That was Fkn nectar dude!”
Lol
This is way to good❤❤❤❤❤
beautifull Alaska
How in earth did that helicopter land up there?
it didnt, just dropped him off
look at 1:43 it def landed.
he didnt drop the collective fully
Basically the pilots keeps some power/lift to the rotor and balances it. So, it's landed, but if it slips he can gun it.
Just hovering with the skids on the snow.
Sooo goooood!
That was nectar duuude
Some real heavy balls right here gentlemen
Amazing
Awesome!
У ребят, точно стальные яйца!) Уважение таким людям!!!
that looks fun
Bravo, Super Congratulations
As a former skier (both hips now artificial), I'm in awe. The only ridgelines I skied were in Jackson Hole, and they were tame compared to this. The only fear I had was missing the last shuttle at the bottom of the Hobacks, and having to walk out lol.
Jackson Hole in New Hampshire?
Been a while since your comment but are you skiing again? I had both hips replaced 12/12/22 and it feels like can make turns again for sure. Glad I went thru with it. I was in major pain before surgery.
In the end thats what life is all about man..!bravo!!!!

I don't know about taming mountains. Mountains more associated with miracles than magic. But, that being said...this was a nice article. Glad those guys skied it safely. Very tough ski lines...only professionals could do that.
Great job 👍👍👍
