  • This is the interview with Pete Fountain and Al Hirt during intermission of the Pete Fountain/Al Hirt concert at Wolf Trap in 1979. It starts with a history of Jazz in New Orleans and the roots of Jazz that came from and out of New Orleans.

    My dad likes jazz. Swing from the 30s and 40s, and dixieland.

    Dixieland jazz wasn't just white jazz. It was actually started by black people. White people just recorded it first
