    Omg!!! I just can't wait to tell you, that i made these doughnuts today. Everyone thought that i was very clever..haha. i did not tell them that i copied your recipe. It turned out so nice , aromatic and crispy. My mom wants to know who is this great Indian chef that I am facinated with. Thank you Gita for your lovely, easy and practical receipies.     I had to view this video twice!!! First time, I was watching you with Kumkum on the forehead and lush green sari . Second time watched how you make vadas so swiftly. It was mouth watering, I will blame your husband because he is a skillful video-shooter, it is as if we are standing next to you. All we miss is the aroma !!! By the way Chana daal is heavy to digest right? Thanks!!!

      Amazing! I do hope that technology too is not far off and you get the aroma!!We add garlic, oomph to aid digestion. I seem to have missed out on ginger, we can add a small piece which will also be helpful

    Nice recipe. I add little thoor dal. Ehy fennel seeds ? It can overshadow smell of pudina and onion.

      You can use it for tempering vegetables , stir frying

    Thanks for sharing the details of the recipe, masala vada is popular particularly in Telangana. Ginger & plenty of coriander enhance the taste of the vada.Which oil is used here for frying?

    Gita maam, Can I soak the chana dal overnight instead of 3 hours before grinding? Will it effect the crispiness of the wada?

      It is better not to overlook. Instead you can soak , drain the water and store in fridge overnight

    Gitaji...can we make the paste before hand and store it in fridge to be used next day? Also will like to know how long it will remain freesh after making

      Yes you can keep the batter for a day in the fridge.The Vada has to be consumed the same day itself.

    one thing I want to know...is it healthy to re use oil after deep frying???....as u lot of oil for frying this vadas....

      The oil can be reused for making seasoning for sabjis in everyday cooking. It is not good to reuse for heating for deep frying repeatedly

      Coconut chutney is fine .you can even serve with tomato sauce or just as it is !

    Gita madam, please spell out the quantity of salt, just like you have in this masal vada video. It helps novices like me to have a starting quantity of salt. This quantity can be altered as per individual taste at a later stage once a start quantity is given.
