One solid advice - try to find someone who speaks ENGLISH, when you want to ask for help or recommendations or just hang out with them. Cuz then that way most likely they'll be educated and well off and not try to scam you or sell you something.

If you can find fellow tourists who can speak English. Usually educated people are willing to help, but may not be available to hang out. Could see a language barrier here. I don't think they were scammers, @ Liam, you said you wanted to go to the market and so they took you there 😂. They were just hanging out and having fun with you. The cheeky guy was thinking of buying the sweater, but decided not to and then you offered to buy for them, they accepted the offer 😂. It's not too pricy, but be careful not to spend too much. You've got enough advice look like. Enjoy your stay and create great memories!!

And ask people for help if someone tries to scam you, believe me people will help. Don't trust people in Delhi so easily they are scammers and frauds. I live in the North-Eastern part of India. Bro please stop this. I am from Israel and have travelled extensively throughout India. India has incredible places which anyone can visit and infact normal tourists do go to. You can't judge the entire country by Delhi because unlike your country India is extremely diverse with contrasts .I am talking about Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand in Northwestern Himalayan regions of India and Sikkim, Meghalaya, Darjeeling, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland in Northeast India. I am focusing on these places. I am saying these regions are beautiful and clean. Why don't understand? Google out the images of these places.
Then you have Kerala, Goa, Vizag, Ooty, Munnar, Doodhsagar, Nilgiri mountains.
For your information the most expensive tea in the world is grown in Darjeeling which is Northeast India's Himalayan region. There are mountain railways in Shimla of Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling both of which are in Himalayas and the Nilgiri Mountain railway in South India. You can google search about them. I have rode in Darjeelings mountain railway. Just amazing! Most importantly let me tell you a shocking fact: there is a tourist village constructed by Israelis for Israeli tourists in Parvati Valley, Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh which is the home of Dalai Lama attracts a huge number of tourists from western countries and Israel.

Most travelers/vloggers go to the north, experience scams and bullshits and think that's what india is. I'm not from India, but let me tell you this, judge the country after you explored the south. It's like you're going to Egypt and only going to the pyramids and other touristy spots, so much scams there, but does that mean the whole country are made of scammers? Of course not. If you wanna experience the "real" india, my advice, go explore the south. Hold your judgement til then. Thank me later.

I wanted to share my thoughts on India. I've noticed that some people tend to have a limited view of the country, often judging it based on experiences in Delhi. However, India is a vast and diverse nation with many different regions, each with its own unique charm and beauty.
Let's talk about some of the lesser-known regions of India. Have you ever heard of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand in the Northwestern Himalayas? Or Sikkim, Meghalaya, Darjeeling, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland in Northeast India? These regions are truly breathtaking and offer a glimpse into India's incredible diversity.
If you're interested in learning more, I encourage you to Google images of these places. You'll find stunning natural beauty, vibrant cultures, and warm hospitality. And let's not forget about the famous tea plantations in Darjeeling, which produce some of the world's most expensive tea!
India is also home to many unique attractions, such as the mountain railways in Shimla, Darjeeling, and the Nilgiri Mountains. I've had the chance to ride the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and it was an unforgettable experience!
Lastly, I wanted to share a fascinating fact: there's a tourist village in Parvati Valley, Himachal Pradesh, built specifically for Israeli tourists. And Dharamshala, the home of the Dalai Lama, attracts visitors from all over the western world, including Israel.
