Definitely would have been the proper thing to do. Since this is just a piece of equipment I decided not to sand between coats on the whole thing. It’s still holding up great
Totally should have used those. I find though that the playing cards are stiffer for some applications where you really have to shove the cards hard into the bead, like motorcycle rims. I got a 12 pack of cards an amazon for like $10 anyways!
