- This version of the Beta Mortar Canyon mod is mostly the same, the only difference is that i changed the skybox to the unused Final Judgement skybox.

Yes it's so cool! It's shows the enemy ships coming in at Sonic. You can see the ships in the final but you're boosting into to many enemies to notice it if you're not paying attention

I'm legit interested to see how many more of the Beta levels we can dig up. It'd be cool to see if more of the levels had more fleshed out design like Mortar Canyon did during the Beta.
Boost-pads aside, looks really good.
I'm pretty sure the boost pads were just place holders for scripting the quick step sections before Sega told them to change the level design
They had a decent design where you have to quickstep to avoid bombs and lasers
But then they were like “Forget it. They’ll have more fun holding the boost button.”
Smashlander02 And cheap dash pads that send you flying on lasers, what a better level huh.
Uhm, it wasn't the designer's fault, Lizuka wanted an easy game again...

I think this might have been used in the hard mode of the game and original would be easy mode

I have a headcanon that Mortar Canyon (or Eggman Empire Fortress) was supposed to be the central point of New Eggmanland. It looks even more similar with this skybox.
This level was actually supposed to be challenging why did Sega make this final level just boosting
Collin Games it was already just a dash pad simulator.
Sega does what nintendon't... I guess.
Mortal Canyon is looking alot more like Dimps Canyon right now.
Needs more springs and spider-sonic though

I think changing the lighting is possible, but i don't know how to.

They should've kept it
That brightness on the stage should be removed, since it does not fit with the sky.
It actually sucked because the stages were developed by two designers with no experience in making a Sonic stage.
Also they must be in love with the Boost Pads, there are too many of them.
SuperSonic Trolling ikr, really not a fan of the ass kissing the beta stages get, they are awful.
+Cinos the Dense potato It’s not like the final stages are any better.
They are, they dont have obnoxiously placed dashpads that lead you to enemies because they lock you in place, nor do they have fire cannons that come out of the ground instantly.
@@Densester so... less hazards = good. I take it you like blindly boosting through stages?? The beta ones aren't great, but at least they require more effort than hold down the boost button.
