Beta Mortar Canyon - Sonic Forces Mods

- This is a beta version of Mortar Canyon for Modern Sonic. Unlike the Beta version of Egg Gate, this has many differences that didn't make the final cut. These include different (and unused?) enemies, spikes, different object layouts which gives it more of a challenge rather than a 'run through stage like a maniac' moment. I get Hard Mode and Act 1-2 vibes from this Beta version, and I would love to see this as DLC (with it fully fleshed out of course) along with the rest of the stages (at least for Modern).

I was using the Improved Modern Sonic mod by POTTERANDMATRIXFAN, which you can download from here:

Also I was using the Modern Sonic Physics Tweaks mod by CornflakeRush, which you can download from here:

Yes I know that i'm a bit late on covering this, but had other stuff to take care off and it became a priority, and I'm trying to get FighterZ content out, but it's gonna be slow with that unfortunately... :/
SuperSaiyanSonic eh don't worry not like it's that big of a deal
Remember those balloons?
For every enemy, why can't they make him react to them like how he reacts to balloons?
Usually, when Sonic attacks an enemy, he loses all of his momentum. The balloons are always satisfying because they make Sonic seem fast.
There are some cons to it. I can see Sonic killing himself by accident with it, but that's where game design come in.

Good god they loved the speed boosters a bit too much
Yeah oh god I don't know if it's better or worse.
A lot of the beta layouts have speedbooster spam like that. There's a beta version of Sunset Valley that is just a continous path of boosters, launchpads, and dash rings. It's possible they put them down as part of testing the level's geometry or something like that. Knowing Sega though, it might just be bad level design :V
@@medicindisquise4271 Sunset Valley?
If they give this game the unleashed treatment for dlc, I would love to replay these stages. Imagine in this stage you actually run through the canyon area for a bit and maybe run across the wall and hit a spring that makes you do some qte's or something then you land in the fortress area and then get to the part of the level where it actually starts in the game.
Broey sounds so cool
Nitch42 ^-^ thx :)
Broey welcome
Howard's Channel indeed but I bet they're too fucking lazy with the dlc at this point unless they're actually working on a stage
This is way better than the stage itself!

5:02-Makin' my way downtown....
Look at all those boosters
It was slightly longer :)
Holy fuck, those speed booster lines! Does anyone seriously not have a problem with this? The fact that the beta stage had all that crap lined up to automate the game a bit more than it turned out being?
Well, it's assumed that those were placeholders both for enemy placement and references to safe pathways, which is why people aren't really up in arms about it.
Why'd they not choose this?
6:51 Wanna know what's sad here,it's been a LONG TIME since I've seen ANY 3D Sonic player had to do this, another set of proof that they're trying to make games SUPER easy
You mean the 360 turn? That's the problem with boost games, they don't take full advantage of a 3d space. For the most part they're just glorified endless runners you play on your phone or a racing game with basic platforming(speaking of which, I wish there was a mod that replaces Sonic's model with a car). You're either moving left and right platforming in a 2d space or forward in a 3d space while boosting, quick stepping, or turning slighting left and right to jump on a platform that isn't directly in front of you.
Anthony13USA Good point but I was talking about getting hit and picking up fallen rings to survive
Ah, that. I mean that's also a flaw of the boost games. Because boosting basically makes you partially invincible, enemies are only there to serve as boost fodder rather than actual obstacles. And when you're not boosting through them, you're chain homing attacking them over a bottomless pit.
Anthony13USA yep
Do you not see the disgusting amount of speed boost wheels? If the game wasn't already "just watch, don't play" enough, look at this beta level, I'm glad the released game got rid of those and made this more "open".
Still too short.
They can't do much about that. The level has a fixed ending so they only at least make it more difficult. It'd take much more programming to actually extend the level.
@@twashgoat well, they just could have made longer levels, because there isn’t any really long level in this game
That Sonic looks really good but I don't like how he's trying to copy Narutos' movement.
I think that it's just the Modern Sonic Physics Tweaks mod.
Um. Sonic has always ran with his hands behind his back way before Naruto did
Oh! Ya talk about the hands?! Sry, I never watched Naruto. :/
If it's about the way he runs...The aerodynamic/airplane arms running style predates both, really. Naruto didn't invent that trope. (Heck, even Dragonball and many manga and anime used it in some form way earlier than them. It's a very common way to make an action character seem more dynamic, and cool.)
Sonic did first use it during his Figure-Eight run in the early 90's with "Sonic CD" before actually bringing it in as his common top-speed running posture in Sonic Adventure (1999). He's almost consistently ran that way ever since.
Oh boy, this is when the comments start to get cancer.
Well I thing the final is the best
