What might have been? Almost ten years have gone since the death of John. He is so sharp at times so you can see what we surly missed without another ten years of Zep at the bare minimum. I would say 20 years of full group participation before Plant goes off somewhere IF no one dies.
As he got older he had nights where he had it and others when he wasn't as sharp. After watching so many live shows I have come to see that this very night he has turned back the clock.
He played Chopin’s prelude earlier in the 80’s for the ARMS shows ..just amazing ..I never knew he played it later, so awesome thank you for uploading!
Don't know why this song inspired someone to say it was a low Jimmy quality performance.? A rated top all-time guitarist, keeping from any comparison from the best one (getting into troubles) J. Hendricks, Clapton, Gilmour, SRV, Page and struggling between Beck and Knopffler at least in my humble opinion.
Poor Jimmy, he was at his worst days at this pos-zeppelin time. (Not musically speaking, but about himself with the drugs, but this affects the music too, unfortunatly)
Thank you for posting this! Where did you get it? Is it video you shot yourself at that show? I remember seeing at least one story back in '88 about Page's "Outrider" Tour, on MTV's News and/or Week in Rock segment and wish I had been able to catch the show when it came through town. Can't believe that is now over 30 years ago! To put that in perspective, there were not even ten years gone since the end of Led Zeppelin, when this concert happened. 😕
@@Tiruliru124718 Miles seems to be trying to imitate a style that originally came naturally to Plant. While Plant could do fine on this song with an altered melody, he lost the ability to sing the original high notes in the earlier part of the '70s.
Jimmy is my favorite of all time but this is painful to see . Did his guitar tech forgot to tune his guitar. Never cared for the tone of his red les paul after he changed out the original Gibson t top pickups for a set of duncans . He seemed to prefer the red les paul for over the hills he used the red one for of the hills in the 70s quite a bit
That looks like the red Les Paul with the Parsons B-bender. Unlike the 1953 Telecaster, installing the B-bender ruined the sound because so much of the body had to be removed.
@@gsrman8834 Yes! And I wonder why he chose the red LP for "Kashmir" and not the Danelectro for old times' sake...maybe he just wanted to change things up. 👍
The vid isn’t stereo what do you expect. Yes, page has had better days but to say his guitar sound cheap, I wouldn’t go that far. His sound live in person is just scary good
When I say cheap, I mean that Page can take a 1959 Les Paul and vintage Marshall amps and make them sound like a 13 year old trying out an Epiphone and Line 6 at Guitar Center. The vast majority of live recordings of him sound plain awful, and it’s not the gear or recording quality. It’s the playing.
Mr Page you take my breath away
Classical music modern interpretation it shows what a truly great musician jimmy is when he shows his respect to past masters.

James Patrick Page. Simply divine.
Everything he play is wonderful
That man could really make a guitar sing it's beautiful.
I saw the show Jimmy page played in Cleveland, OH in 1988 this tour. Great.
What can be said. Jimmy's the best.
this should have 5 million views...
yes. now a days, fucking idiots eating tide pods is what gets 5 million views. Society is in the toilet my friend.
& 5 million 👍🏻
Wow! That solo in Over the hills and far away was gnarly!
I adore him, almost OCD. I'm an artist, and currently working on a portrait of him from a 1976 glossy photo.
the genius at work
Джимми Пейдж великий гитарист
Happy 70th Master James Patrick Page
Beautiful Jimmy 🌹
The one and only Mr Jimmy Page❤❤❤❤❤❤
AMAZING 👏
A slower, more melodic Page version of Chopin.
I, on the other hand, enjoyed it.
another interpretation from jimmy that is fresh and natural to the ear...he always go a different route but is spot on....thats jimmy
Page, Forever and ever 🎸❤!

Love you Genius Jimmy Page!
Beautiful
John Miles could sing his balls off. Spot on every note. Unbelievable.
Holy shit what a performance
Perfect response lol❤
Amazing!!! GLORY TO JIMMY PAGE!!!
Genius!!
WHY DO I LOVE THIS MAN ✊🏾
it's Chopin's prelude..
no - really!? 🤪 🤭😂
@@elisabeth9323 Yes, for real. It's called Prelude n.4 in E minor.
❤️Chopin

I have this on VHS.
HAS the infamous "cocaine booger" scene featuring jason bonham and jimmy pointing and laughing at him!

Other worldly
ok say what you wanna say but the gibson version of prelude sounds better than the fender. jimmy really knew his gibsons.
wonder if he used a B bender on his Gibsons too.
bob cavicchio yeah he does. He’s using it here
❤

He clearly wasn't in 88.
I don't think so.

John Miles on vocals. He was a disco guy in the 70s. Page was probably thinking of starting a real band with him. Never came too be.
Best vocal performance since the album version, and it's not even Robert
You clearly don't listen to LZ bootlegs.
@@zekayman It must be Plant...nobody else have this voice

No way it still sounds unbelievable. It’s the same guitar he used on kashmir at the 02 arena in 07’. Probably the biggest sound he’s ever pulled

whos the vocal on this song?
JOHN MILES
Its a piano piece by Chopin arranged for electric guitar by Page

How can anybody think this sounds good?
I'm sorry, but "New Kids on The Block" is on a different page.
@@astroman30 New Kids suck and Page’s playing here is horrible. If you think this sounds good, you’re tone deaf.
A couple too many pre show drinks . Page normally played 10 times better then this on the 88 outrider tour .
Page's guitar sucks not him ,there is something wrong with the guitar
Brian Miller no, it’s Page. He’s the only one who can make the world’s most expensive guitars sound cheap.
