This was actually a really nice video. It's not a particularly focused video with a specific purpose, moreso just wandering around the urban landscape at night, but even if it isn't the most conventionally interesting video, I think it's simply nice to have a video that's rather calm and settling: the peacefulness of this vlog is great.
What you describe fit very well with the Japanese 30 hour day. Which basically means you count past 24, since it's still late, until you reach 6 in the morning, when it starts being early again. I've seen convenience stores with opening times till 26.
It might have felt kind of aimless, but this one was perhaps one of the few that gave me an immediate "oo, I wanna do that" kind of feeling. Cycling in Tokyo feels kind of sketchy usually, but going around at night seems like a much calmer experience.
Honestly, the Gopro footage is simply better for active camerawork without having to edit it too much after. The stabilization is great. Also, yes, "tomorrow" is when you sleep and wake up. :)
the first night a arrived at tokyo i went out to walk around all night and was one of my high lights of the trip we did, you get to experince tokyo in diferent way. i felt safe all the time , thanks for the video i got to remember my walk so awesome
This was a chill vlog! Feel free to do more like this. It must be hard to come up with things to do each day so some days (or nights) can be more chill. Plus yea the stabilization is a must when riding on something that's bumping all over the place.
I like the vibes of this vid. TokyoLens did something similar to this months ago but he was running in the morning in Tokyo and didn't talk, so this really gives a different perspective on how active are the roads during this time of day
For me this is the best type of video. I just love seeing random places in a city. Thank you for filming this but you don't need to skip sleep for us, even exploring during the day is interesting. 7:58 this one really feels like those "Tokyo in [insert decade there]" videos Also in general there were so many shots where I was like "this is just like in that anime" for obvious reasons (there were a lot of places which reminded me of Durarara and Odd Taxi) Oh also I too feel the same about when the "next day" starts.
This was actually a really nice mundane vlog/video. And with just your commentary, no background music, it was a nice chill one. And yes, I don't consider it "tomorrow" until I've gone to bed, no matter what time it is
I like how it is already bright when you wake up in Tokyo during winter. Makes you so much more motivated for the day! Also no winter/summertime bs switch as we have it in EU.
This seems like a vibe. The music + vlog inspired from just feeling the vibes of being alone riding through that would be magical. I would definitely consider this a vlog because of how it made me think and feel a lot more. Although this could definitely be just my personal association with this kind of environment
Totally a worthwhile video. Just seeing a mega-city during the night, with absolutely no-one around is amazing. Thanks for the chill vibes, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow? (probably sleep)
100% agree in regards to stabilisation. I prefer smooth footage over a wibbly wobbly 4K nightmare. Also really enjoyed this vlog, one of my favourite things to do when I went to Tokyo last year was wander round late at night
This video was strangely healing/wonderful in a way. I'm from Toronto so I've never galivanted around at 3-5am at night for safety reasons. Getting to see you and the babysitter soak up a city at that time felt so peaceful and a peek into a world I'd rarely find myself in.
GoPro looks overall better. Overall quality matters less when the footage is just light lines. This Daily vlog was honestly very nice. Thank you for this very chill video.
Really fascinating to see Tokyo so quiet at 4-5AM. Hope you and Mudam will do more nighttime content even if it does conflict with your editing & sleep schedules 😅
Day 36 of asking Mudan to complete every single prefecture in Japan and Day 19 of telling Mudan to improve his reading speed and study for the JLPT exam. All chill at 5am... my city gets quiet at night but still tons of cars around. The weird thing is that after the events of 2020, everyone's day starts at 9am or 10am for a lot of stores, weird.
Even I, a Japanese, feel that the past few years have been unusually hot. This has never happened before. Yet, I heard on TV that this winter is going to be harsh. I don't need four seasons, just spring and fall. I hate both hot and cold.
For a moment when Mudan pulled up his Google Maps I became extremely interested in what "Jizz Bar Gugan" could be that is open at 4am, but upon skipping back for a clearer look I see it says "Jazz Bar" =/ boring.
Stabilized looks way better. Skytree should do a sunrise event so you could see the whole skyline start to light up. (Also stopped at Public House ZEN while I was in Asakusa and it was a blast)
When Tokyo Lens did his midnight walk across Tokyo he said quite a few shrines had been moved onto rooves and showed a couple - you could just walk up to the room of those buildings. Might be worth a look if you want to see the sunrise :)
I was in Niigata in February of 2024. At around 22:00 the city was half empty, by 23:00 almost no cars where running and no pedestrians at all. And this is the capital of that prefecture!
I would just ride on the sidewalks, I ride a bike every day here in Florida. I don’t trust drivers. I always ride on the sidewalks. Even if they have a bike lane in the main road unless there’s a concrete barrier between me and a moving vehicle I will not ride on the road. No way, but this is one of my favorite times to ride before the sun comes up right out to the beach to see the sunrise perfect. 🚲 ❤ I like the GoPro footage, I know a lot of content creators are switching over to the DJi mo instead of carrying those big canon and Sony cameras around. And they have a good quality.
I feel the same way even in suburb Los Angeles, I try biking only residential streets or sidewalks only for bigger streets. Speed limits are slower in Japan, so it's a bit safer than the US but people in Japan bike like madmen (they don't check both ways when crossing intersections, ride towards pedestrians, etc) and I think bicycle accident rates are high, but there are a lot of cyclists
This is a good video. I was already planning to do this while running but now I think biking might be better. P.S. Where is the Garnt or Sydsnap collab?
I mean, the gopro is going to be better because you're using an action camera for its intended purpose, where as the sony isn't exactly designed for this, ya know? gotta use the right tool for the right task my dude
i def prefer the go pro footage. like the quality doesn't look much different but the other camera shakes too much and i legit was get motion sick from all the shaking of it.
having lived in Japan the best place to see the sun rise in Tokyo is out towards the rainbow bridge. It's spectacular, I often see it if I have the early flight back to Australia and it's a lovely way to leave Tokyo
The on-board stabilisation for the Go Pro 10 is mad good. Just have to be careful in low light condition especially at 60 FPS as it causes a lot of smearing/ghosting. My main complaint about the GoPro 10 is the overheating issue. To film for longer than an 10-20mins when I go flying I mount a USB fan to blow air at it. That way I can film not stop.😂
I don't remember it being this quiet! Guess it depends on if it's a weekday or weekend too right? I remember people still out eating, I even recall clothing shops open and people shopping!
JR Yamanote line starts to move at 4:30 and then other local lines / subways starts around 5. So some people who stayed at night in a bar, family-restaurant , Manga kissa ( comic cafe) or Karaoke place, go to their job or home at 5.
I recommend just using a phone to record mounted shots like that. If you have an iPhone or any modern android phone which can record 4K they have really good stabilization, just use that. PLUS Harder to fall off the mount since it's not as heavy as a camera!
I was just looking at the A7 III. They're currently $1890 CAD without a lens. I'm also considering the Fujifilm X-S20, as I have some nice Fuji lenses already and it seems like a good travel camera; I also love their built-in colour science. I was going to buy a camera when I come to Japan, but they seem more expensive, strangely.
This was actually a really nice video. It's not a particularly focused video with a specific purpose, moreso just wandering around the urban landscape at night, but even if it isn't the most conventionally interesting video, I think it's simply nice to have a video that's rather calm and settling: the peacefulness of this vlog is great.
Yep, I absolutely agree.
Same here
Sensoji at 5-6am is great
What you describe fit very well with the Japanese 30 hour day. Which basically means you count past 24, since it's still late, until you reach 6 in the morning, when it starts being early again. I've seen convenience stores with opening times till 26.
Morning walks are actually underrated
I really love this video
9:16 i chose left because i prefer to have brain damage
5:51 Mudan: "Who's delivering food at 5AM"
The Delivery Guy (probably): "Who wants a food at five in the morning"
The Guy Ordering: "Oh boy 5AM"
What kitchen is open at 5AM?
@@reldies5364 My kitchen always open, no lock
Connor:
People who start their job at 6 or those people who sleep three hours only
TBh Connor probably would order food at 5 am :D
I liked Japan at 5AM, the quiet and bearable temperatures were amazing
When moving, the GoPro with stabilization is so much better and it isn't even close.
Yeah but that’s about all that the GoPro has that’s better than the A7iii for most case scenarios, and prob the small compact size too but idk
@@luiskoga-sd6zk and the price
Being outside at night in summer just hits totally different, it's like you are teleported to different dimension
It might have felt kind of aimless, but this one was perhaps one of the few that gave me an immediate "oo, I wanna do that" kind of feeling. Cycling in Tokyo feels kind of sketchy usually, but going around at night seems like a much calmer experience.
Comfiest Mudan Japan vlog in a while.
The 6th day of asking Mudan to go experience drifting
This gives "call of the night" anime vibes
I get your rant at the end, sleep just resets the day, it's the law of nature
Very cozy video.
Still wild to me that you don't have more views yet. These are some of the most entertaining videos i have watched all year
Honestly, the Gopro footage is simply better for active camerawork without having to edit it too much after. The stabilization is great. Also, yes, "tomorrow" is when you sleep and wake up. :)
9:28 the GoPro didn't even flinch
the first night a arrived at tokyo i went out to walk around all night and was one of my high lights of the trip we did, you get to experince tokyo in diferent way. i felt safe all the time , thanks for the video i got to remember my walk so awesome
This is my favorite video of yours. It was peaceful and yet watching the sky gradually lightening was beautiful to look at. ❤️
city pop and cycling there at night will go so hard
This was a chill vlog! Feel free to do more like this. It must be hard to come up with things to do each day so some days (or nights) can be more chill. Plus yea the stabilization is a must when riding on something that's bumping all over the place.
Nah, this was super interesting!! Seeing the empty streets of tokyo at night and ending it with the sunrise was peak 🌅 👌
The poop shirt is now iconic 💩
I like the vibes of this vid. TokyoLens did something similar to this months ago but he was running in the morning in Tokyo and didn't talk, so this really gives a different perspective on how active are the roads during this time of day
Took Mudan 9 months to learn that Tokyo really is a 24 hour city and the day starts at 5amish because that's when the trains start
I'll always love seeing the golden poop Asahi building, and the bar inside it is cool as well! I hope they'll never tear that down.
It was cool to see waking up Tokyo, and yeah GoPro all the way for video like this.
I love the quietness of it all… very nice.
9:20 I definitely prefer the GoPro
For me this is the best type of video. I just love seeing random places in a city. Thank you for filming this but you don't need to skip sleep for us, even exploring during the day is interesting.

Great content as always. Is booking bikes with Luup easy? Also late night and early morning are the best time to capture back alley content.
I went to Tokyo last year, and this video perfectly captures the vibe I felt out there. Thanks for taking me back.
Road to 100k Mudan you can do it!
“Who's delivering food at 5AM?”…. It’s probably Conner 🦍
This seems like a vibe. The music + vlog inspired from just feeling the vibes of being alone riding through that would be magical.
I would definitely consider this a vlog because of how it made me think and feel a lot more. Although this could definitely be just my personal association with this kind of environment
Stabilized is just better.
Totally a worthwhile video. Just seeing a mega-city during the night, with absolutely no-one around is amazing. Thanks for the chill vibes, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow? (probably sleep)
one of the better vlogs man i really liked it the morning lights are the best.
100% agree in regards to stabilisation. I prefer smooth footage over a wibbly wobbly 4K nightmare.

Your daily vlogs are great and chill keep up the good work. :)
This video was strangely healing/wonderful in a way. I'm from Toronto so I've never galivanted around at 3-5am at night for safety reasons. Getting to see you and the babysitter soak up a city at that time felt so peaceful and a peek into a world I'd rarely find myself in.

i still prefer the unstabilized cinema camera over the GoPro
Insta360 Ace Pro would be cool
I'm early so ill just comment for the algorithm love the content i want to go to Japan again because of you
Ive been in Japan for two days and it’s been amazing! Shinjuku is always open lol
Really fascinating to see Tokyo so quiet at 4-5AM. Hope you and Mudam will do more nighttime content even if it does conflict with your editing & sleep schedules 😅
How much was the ride ? I like the Insta360 Go 3s.
I really need to know, did the pidgeon cross the road?
I enjoyed this video very much, perfect for the end of a migraine day! 😊

1:57 in Germany we call ppl who are driving in the wrong lane Geisterfahrer, which translates to ghost driver. Very fitting for cycling so late 😂

I appreciate how calming this video is. Even after I worked night shift, it's strange to see the quietness of the world at 5am.
When Tokyo Lens did his midnight walk across Tokyo he said quite a few shrines had been moved onto rooves and showed a couple - you could just walk up to the room of those buildings.
Might be worth a look if you want to see the sunrise :)
We got to be little sleepy kittens in Mudan and the Babysitter's bike baskets

good vibrations
Food delivery 5am .
Maybe hospital
In states surgical staff arrive about 5 and little later start precheckin.

Got to sleep Mudan, your going do a burnout. :-)
So the question is did Mudan get up extra early or stay up extra late? 🤔
Edit: 0:25 he stayed up late
This was an incredibly peaceful and serene video! I enjoyed it immensely
I'm surprised Mudan has not broken more cameras. That bike mount looked a bit sketchy
Maybe not as informative or focused but i was engaged the whole way through. Fun video
i def prefer the go pro footage. like the quality doesn't look much different but the other camera shakes too much and i legit was get motion sick from all the shaking of it.
10:26 Yes get that feeling, but what if you just don't sleep? Is it same day part 2?
nice
Favorite vlog so far

First 🥇🏆 Go pro was miles better. Mudan, get some sleep 😴💤
day 23 of asking mudan, how much mochi can he fit in his mouth
you should go somewhere next to the water for the sunrise
Would accept a sunrise timelapse of that shot on the bridge with Skytree and the river.
he shaved. our sexy hung Mudan is back!!!
you'd think 7 11 opens from 7 to 11
The GoPro footage was superior in this video.
Guys I think Mudan is becoming a vampire.
this was the best video

you should try doing camping on building or mid size house's roof
I recommend just using a phone to record mounted shots like that. If you have an iPhone or any modern android phone which can record 4K they have really good stabilization, just use that. PLUS Harder to fall off the mount since it's not as heavy as a camera!
This is so relaxing! Thank you!
It makes the cut. Alittle bit like the walk around Tokyo but with abit of commentary. That's basically RobCDee's vlogs. XD
While biking motion: GoPro is definitely better. Surprisingly relaxing to watch 4am streets (as I'm always asleep here :-) )

Akihabara after 22-23-ish is dead and boring, I wouldn't say depressing is inaccurate.
