    They need to announce a gh6 2 with PD next month so I can pair it with my Gh6. Because Panasonic decided to not put PD in this camera so many creators skipped it and don't realize what their camera systems are missing. GH6 is so far ahead of the competition for usability other than the AF. We love it for our needs.

      @@angeloplayforone Nope, the GH4 replaced the GH3 in less than 18 months to give 4K (in crop mode). Keeping most of the GH6 the same should make it possible to upgrade the GH6 to M2 with PDAF after a year. As for sensor Panasonic would likely return to a sensor from Sony.

    If you need to deliver in 4k then the GH6 makes a lot of sense as you get that post editing leeway filming in 5.7k... but for those of us who still deliver in 1080p the old GH5/GH5S is plenty good.
    I'd love for Panasonic to release a GH5 mk3 with phase detect, IBIS and a dual gain sensor (so we can get usable ISO3200) and maybe a few extra h265 codecs to save on space.

    for "filmmaking" ya never ever use..autofocus. Sure, if you're gonna be a "vlogger" or "influencer" or some other social vid thing , yeah ya don't want to worry about focus while running around. But I was brought up working focus and not having to worry about a camera searching such as how the Nikon z7 will do for example. I Love the GH6..works well and in varying conditions.

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  Рік тому

      I'd argue that you don't use autofocus for 2 reasons. 1 is that most cameras used in filmmaking don't have autofocus and the lenses used almost never have autofocus motors so it isn't an option. The second is filmmaking uses rehearsed shots with usually multiple operators including dedicated trained focus pullers with focus rigs and monitors. There is a vast sea of people who want to film that aren't in those situations with dedicated focus pullers so for them, the option of reliable autofocus could be a game changer to the way they can shoot. For most of my shoots, I'm solo and often am not able to set up rehearsed shots so when autofocus got reliable, it opened the door for me to get so many more unique shots that were impossible before. But I still love the Gh6, but reliable autofocus would have opened the door to many videographers who are more limited without it and Sony and Canon currently have reliable autofocus cameras

      I did...Panasonic improved it but only slightly. Basically Panasonic is still using the same technology (contrast AF) in the GH6 which is good for accurate point to point focus, but is not great for tracking moving subjects in video. The Panasonic GH7 and full frame S5II both have an upgraded phase detection system like all Sony & Canon cameras so autofocus on those cameras are significantly better. MINE IS BROKEN AT THE REPAIR FACILITY...WATCH OUT FOR THE USB AND HDMI PORTS. They are fragile...a turn of my gimbal and the camera died. Yes, I know....cable clamps. The ability to charge via usb means that if that connection breaks, good luck turning on your camera. Great if you are un and gun not using those ports much, but in a livestream for a church where the camera gets taken down weekly and used for other things, it is a fail point. Trust me guys...use the cable clamps. I am out my GH6 until they get it straightened out.

    Only good reason to go GH6 over S5 ii is for 4K 120… I’ll take the larger sensor.

      Even 4K/60 is a crop on the S5M2.

      and what about all the overheating issues I hear everywhere in the full frame world? Things like 30 min. recording limit in 10 bit? Not good if you capture a music concert!
