  • Cattle Panels have a million uses on the Homestead. Using them to trellis tomatoes is one of my favorites. They work better and last longer than most Tomato cages. If you are new to growing a bigger garden or just growing more, cattle panels work great. It is more expensive up front but long term you will be glad you got them.

Old knee-hi's or nylons are great for suspending pumpkins, watermelon, etc.

    How much do these cost?

Around here they are $29 for a 16 ft cattle panel and the T post are around $5 each. So a 16 ft fence cost around $45. That may seem high but it can stay out all winter and it last a very long time. Just makes things easier it’s worth it for us. You can also get a lot of tomatoes on a 16 ft fence. The cheaper option is a tomato cage with a wood steak holding it up but I loose so many tomatoes due to them getting knocked down in weather just doesn’t seem like a good option anymore.
