    I started incorporating your hair care advice last April (though I use a satin cap because I could afford it). I've been trying to grow my hair out from a pixie cut -- I think my last hair cut was a few months prior. It's now just past my chin and almost to my shoulders. So much healthier and thicker!
    But what really clinched it for me was last night, I went to an event where I had acted in a scene for an acting class. This was filmed 4 months ago right as I gave up shampoo and heat styling. I was proud of my acting, but was completely struck on how much my hair has changed for the better in 4 short months! I've wanted long hair all my life, and never could get it to look full and healthy, so I chopped it off. Now I'm excited to see how long I'll be able to grow it! It's still too short for braids at night, but I'm getting there... Thank you so much for all your great tips! 💜

And literally either delete the videos where they go into detail and post 4 minute "daily routiens" or post nothing at all but a silk press like...tf. i used to tell ppl EVERYTHING i knew because i wanted to see them get results now some girls act like theyre scared to give out the details for fear your results turn out idk better than theirs but who flipping cares you should wanna dee another woman look good especially if shes coming to you for advice

    Now I understand why my hair does better in the humidity vs the dry air winters in Vermont. Thank you for this helpful video!
    I’ve been growing my hair back. using a once a month treatment…
    1 raw egg,
    1Tbsp raw honey
    1-3 Tbsp rosemary infused in coconut and olive oil
    1 tsp castor oil
    1/2 tsp powdered cinnamon
    Aloe vera juice to top it off
    I leave it for a few hours or overnight in a plastic bag with a scarf over the bag, rinse it off in warm water, and hey voila, soft bouncy beautiful hair! I love it. I found using any clay or apple cider vinegar stripped my hair way too much, so I don’t use them at all. Sometimes I will slather my hair with some rosemary coconut olive oil for a few hours to a day before the treatment.
    If I really feel my hair needs a good cleansing, I’ll sift powdered chickpea on my head and work it into my hair. It takes out excesses without stripping my hair.

    Katherine, I'm such a fan of yours. I haven't used shampoo in years, and my hair is very thick and healthy for my age (62), though I'm growing it out from 1 inch long a bit over a year ago! It's growing very fast. But it's still a bit damaged... it's hard to put shorter hair in protective styles. I ordered more silk pillowcases, and a Lilysilk sleep cap.
    Note: I've had really good luck with plain silk ribbons without elastics. I just wrap my hair in the silk ribbons and they stay in - this avoids the elastics altogether.
    Thank you for these videos.

    Speaking of materials, I wonder if you know about the studies done on cotton and linen and the frequencies they emit (promotes healing, e.g. linen bandages) but when you mix the two together they cancel each other out. "Linen: 5,000 Wool: 5,000 Mixed linen and wool: 0… it appears that the frequencies cancel each other out. Perhaps this accounts for the ancient instructions not to mix these fabrics."

    Scrunchies have previously just fallen off the ends of braids, but I've been experimenting with braiding in yarn or ribbon to the last six inches of my braids and tying it off (like in Morgan Donner's no-elastic hair taping video) and that is also slipping out by morning, but stays well enough that it's still braided in the morning. (When I had long hair about 15 years ago and I tried sleeping in braids it would get matted at the top of the braid by the nape of my neck from the friction, but that hasn't been happening recently, not sure if my hair texture has changed a little bit or if it's because my pillowcase is a more satin-y material instead of cotton.

If you can’t afford that but can sew buy a meter/a yard of silk satin, cut it into a square if you have to, and hem it yourself, naptural85’s technique for tying silk scarves is the most secure I’ve found. I have noticed recently that I am getting tons of breakage right where my braids start on the side of my head I sleep on most. I use to never braid my hair or wear bonnets and would brush it while it was dry and I had no breakage. I'm seeing how long your hair is and I want to keep doing what EVERYONE on UA-cam says works but I'm about to experiment with going back to no braids and dry brushing only. It seems like my hair brushes out better with conditioner in it but that's just because it's faster, meanwhile I end up with more hair in my brush because I'm not taking my time to section and work out tangles. About to flip the whole 'curly method' on it's side. I don't use products to style my curls either. ;P

    • @EmpressKadesh
      @EmpressKadesh 9 місяців тому +1

      My plan is just to let it go wild while I sleep (on a satin pillowcase) and then use a pick comb in the morning to detangle and then just mist it with water to revive the curls. I hope this works because the 3 inch hairs where the braids are breaking my hair are just unacceptable.

    • @CJ_536
      @CJ_536 5 місяців тому

      I have straight, medium hair. I also found that a simple loose braid results in breakage. I have tried a silk bonnett but it makes my scalp more oily. I have found two options that work for me. One is milk maid braids. Pinning the braids on top of my head prevents all the breakage where the braid flips and flops. But more often I do a high loose bun. Flip the head upset down, spin into a loose bun, and secure with a satin scrunchy. I then sleep on a silk pillow case, but don't use a bonnet. My hair is mid back now, about three years after it was a chin length stacked bob.
