Protective Hair Styles for Long Hair Growth

- In this much requested video, I will teach you how to create protective styles for long hair growth! Protective styles are hair styles which keep your hair ends tucked away and protected, thus minimizing the chances of breakage. Keeping my hair in these styles on the regular has helped me to grow long hip length hair, after having a chin-length hair cut. My hair has never been this long before.
These styles keep your hair up and off your body, which reduces the chance of mechanical damage and protects your hair from the elements. The best protective styles also do not place tension on your hairline, and distribute the weight of your hair over a large area of your head.
Protective hair styles have been used for hundreds if not thousands of years, and were likely an important factor for the many historical women who were able to grow very long hair.
I will show you several of my favourite styles - attractive and historically inspired protective styles that I wear my hair in on a daily basis. There will be lots of tips for how to alter these styles for shorter, straighter, or finer hair than I have. I will even be sharing with you THE protective style that I used when my own hair was at chin length.
You will learn what tools and supplies you need to create these hair styles (it's very basic), as well as how to use my new favourite hair fastening tool, Holdi-Locks - link to purchase is below.
You will even learn some quick natural techniques for how to naturally "dry cleanse" the hair - alleviating excess oiliness WITHOUT needing to shampoo your hair all the time. After all, protective styles are a great way to go longer between hair washes!

Perfectly done Keth
I have C1a Scandinavian waist length hair, that is now 50% gray. Pinning up my hair would cause more breakage than leaving the braid down. I do recommend oiling before washing - every time. Older gals can and should keep their long hair! Oiling helps so much.
Hi I'm 52 my c3 curly hair is approximately 35% grey . Sorry but I hate my grey, so instead of box dyes I used henna yesterday the result was amazing!
@@lisahamer6213 not sure how henna would work on blond hair...but I am happy it works for you! ☺️
68 yo with fully white hair, butt length. Keep the hair ladies.
Natural Henna is great for all hair! It can be used alone- or as a way to add natural color (with pigment from indigo... etc). It strengthens the hair and makes it more resilient to damage. I use it once or twice a year usually to oomph my color and it lasts about 2 months, lessening gradually. Though I only use natural henna, it is possible to overuse henna which isnt good for your hair. Do some research- I've used a few different brands such as henna sooq, rainbow research henna, light mountain). Good luck!
@@sagebrush4524if you add the henna to an oil I believe you get the benefits of the chemicals in the henna without the colour. But you should do a patch test to make sure.
I have hip length dreadlocks (15yrs!) and tried the bun with braided hairline pieces for the 1st time. Omg...I can't describe the feeling. Such relief as there's seriously NO pulling anywhere on the scalp. Thanks so much. This will be my go-to hairstyle every day now 🙏🙏🙏
My hair is only just below my shoulders, but I COULD NOT be more excited to dive into this!!!!After being nervous about putting up my hair for years because I thought it would be damaging to my roots I wore my first bun in a long while the other day, my boar bristle brush arrived in the mail today, and I'm *this* close (after many hours of nearly losing my mind) to doing half decent milk braids in my hair - so excited to try some new routines. 😊 Thank you so much, Katherine, for sharing all this knowledge. 💛
I have similar issue, don't forget to switch up the styles, the parting and somewhat more elaborate updos worn all day tend to be more comfortable than quick and dirty styles to get my hair out of the way
Also play with different tools (when your hair will be long enough to do so)clips tend to support the weight better than pin depending on the size and hair sticks cana be a nice way to have simple styles look more put together
Cannot wait until my hair is that length again! So happy for you!!! 🎊🎉
Hey, try watching the blowout professors videos here on UA-cam. Her methods are ones I grew up on from my parents and they actually kept my hair from growing and honestly left me unable to enjoy my hair. I was considering trying the methods as well after watching her videos until I did some more research. It actually kind of makes me angry. The "natural, holistic" trend is really misleading and can make you get trapped into a lifestyle thinking it's the only way you can preserve and maintain your hair when in reality it can be much more simple and allow you to not feel like you have to change your entire lifestyle. She used to use curly hair methods that were not effective and way too heavy. Now she's advocating for another extreme.
Hi! I see that your comment is a year old. Did you end up wearing a bun and using boar bristles more frequently? Did it help your length?
When making elastic free hair buns, I like to split my hair in two and then gently tie those two sections in a knot and twist around that knot; I find it makes a much better base for my fine, slippery hair :)
Whenever I tape my hair, my favorite tool is a bodkin from the Burnley & Trowridge company. (A bodkin is like a big dull needle with an eye that's large enough to put a ribbon through.) Their bodkins are made of bone. It's fairly easy to just sew your braids into place with them!
A bodkin sounds perfect! I have used large blunt tapestry needles in the past, they work fairly well too :)
I looked for hair taping videos so I know what you are talking about. But nothing shows up. I know I am slow. 🐌 But can you help me out. I would love to do my hair with ribbons. Thank you ❣️
@@Raven_57 check the description under the video, there is a link to Morgan Donner's video about hair taping. Hope that helps!
@@PsychoKat90 gezzz I really was slow 🤣🤣🤣 thank you!
I been using skin bleaching cream on my hair,,,,i see results in 3 days,,,,you should try it oneday...bleaching creams have strong acids in it,,,that will stimulate hair growth
Thank you Katherine for this great series of historical hair care videos! My hair looks identical to your original type & style (spiral curls that are chin length). I’m a lot older (mid 50s) but I SO long for gorgeous long hair like yours. I’m totally revamping my routine based on your videos. I’m hopeful that I can finally get my hair to grow for the first time in years!!❤😊
Keep us up to date❣️❣️
Man I'm so jealous I LOVE curly hair! I have very fine straight hair and I tried every single hairstyle in this video and none of them looked good on me because my hair is so fine and straight. Even though my hair is hip length I just don't have a lot of volume or thickness. : / ugh idk I have to find some other way to protect the ends of my hair
How are you results so far?
Katherine, your hair routine just saved my life. I was having increasingly more scalp issues over the past year. One by one my scalp was reacting to nearly every product I tried, and I was at my wits end trying everything! I had made the same mistake in the past making a paste out of clay rather than liquid and swore never again, but your method and ratio actually worked and gets my hair gently clean but not stripped. My scalp is not reacting to it as long as I’m very gentle and wash thoroughly. I just cut my hair to shoulder length because I needed a fresh change after all that hair struggle, so I’ll tune in for the protective styles ☺️ thank you!
I learned the hard way about drying your scalp. I was 15 my psoriasis kicked in which meant I had sores and a dark moist environment…… yeah the combination left my scalp and hair recovering for 2 years. So yes 100% a believer off dry scalps and protective styles.
I just want to say thank you. I've tried your hair recommendations and my hair has done a 360 turn for the better. Keep the hair videos coming. I love them.🥰
😂
This ( these ) videos are a godsend to me as ive been depressed watching myself go bald. 2 bouts of COVID made me lose at least half my one beauty, due to oxygen deprivation and prolonged bed time. Not rest,. Especially the back where my head lay on the pillows. I've always used gentle products, no curling tools for over ten years. It is SO THIN!! AT ANY RATE AFTER SEEING YOUR INFO I CANT WAIT TO DO THEM.. I WEAR MY HAIR UP TO COVER THE BACK, AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY STOP ME AND COMPLIMENT ME. BUT I WANT MY OWN HAIR BACK.NOT TO LOOK LIKE YOURS BUT MY OWN BEST. SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!!!
00.
I wear those milkmaid braids daily! They're amazing! I'm wearing them as I type this!
OMG! How am I 32 years old and never tried a bun that had zero tension. I just walked around with a headache everyday. The relief I just felt from this style! My scalp thanks youuu
Coincidently i was just thinking "when will katherine post that protective style video i really want to see it" then u uploaded it❤️
For those of you that need more length 😢 yep I fall into that realm still! I began working overnights and was losing so much hair!! It worried me. Turns out I was vitamin d deficit and when I began taking d3/ k2 my hair fall basically stopped the end of the first week taking it! The damage is already done because the end of my hair resembles the end of a rake. You can see through the ends, when before they were thick. I'm so so disappointed but all I can do is keep tending to my hair and doing better. I can't wait to see what it looks like in 4 years from now!
I would add the silk scarfs in with the historic no tension bun. Would look super cute!
I've worked on the health of my hair for the last 5yrs and cut most of it off 2yrs ago after a product caused serious damage to my hair cuticle. It's now below my shoulder blades and I was debating cutting it off again but somehow came across one of your videos last week and ended up heading down another path. I'm now on my way to continuing to grow my curly/wavy hair even more and I'm actually excited to see the options for protective styles. Pineapples and messy buns have been giving me headaches(I have a home daycare so wearing my hair up is a must) so these options of styles make me happy. I'm looking forward to my journey now!
Are you still growing?
@@gardenista1978 yep. It's almost to my bum now!
Hooray!! I'm 43 and just starting to grow mine... dusting waist length now. happy growing!@@rthorne1985
I enjoy making every amigurumi and dolls and honestly there's nothing more comforting to watch than your long videos 😊
Love this!! I can't wait to try the "zero tension" bun with the front twists, it looks so pretty but not fancy enough that I feel like I'm trying too hard 😅 I have a tip for the long hair French twist: instead of folding the hair in half and then twisting from the ends, just grab the hair in a low pony position with your fingers under the hair, thumb on top, and twist up by rolling your hand with the loop of hair over it. The ends of your hair just get sucked into the twist so you don't have to fuss with tucking them, and then you have a nice loop of hair on top that you can either smush under the twist or form into a little bun. Hard to describe without images lol but I hope that makes sense! It can be dressy or messy and it's super fast
Finally! I love that you took the time to explain the hairstyle for different types of hair
I decided to try putting my hair up in a French twist today. It’s the first time in almost four months since I cut my hair! I will say, after trying a natural hair care routine for almost two weeks, my hair feels like it has more grip to it. Yet another reason to distance myself from commercial shampoos!
I've had long hair much of my life, and inadvertently have been following many of the suggestions you give here-not for my hair, per se, but because I'm prone to headaches. I've largely worn my hair in ways that put as little stress on my scalp as possible, and it's become habit over the years. Never thought that this is probably going to lead to hairstyles that are kind to the hairs themselves, but I guess you're not really thinking like that when you have a headache, lol.
Btw, this may sound ridiculous, but I'd never thought of hiding the ends of milkmaid braids under the "scalp" hair! I've always just pinned the ends under the opposite braid, like buckling a harness.
thank you so much for including short hair options 🥺 I've been hoping for a video like this for ages
You’re so lovely 😊. Thanks for this! Tried hard to find some lovely vintage hairstyles on YT and there weren’t many at all!
This video was wonderful! I wore 3 of these styles this week. Please make another video like this! I adore your channel
These are good styles! I find that using a long ribbon helps me to hold my hair in place without putting any tension on my scalp - I especially like to use it for a crown braid, and "sew" the ribbon around the braid so that it catches the hair underneath and distributes the weight evenly.
Thanks for this!! I can’t wait to try some, especially with the French twist ❤
Finalyyyyyy! The MSM tip from you hairgrowth video is genius! I take it a few weeks now and have so much regrowth!
I've been waiting for this video of yours to come out =) thank you. I appreciate all the tips and styles you showed. I have naturally fine hair that is mostly straight with a slight wave, just a bit past my shoulders. I am on a hair care journey where not only do I want to achieve longer hair, but healthier hair overall. Will be incorporating all these tips and can't wait to try out some of these protective hairstyles. Your video was very informative and thoughtful. Thank you so much for this :)
We are so spoiled to have you Kathryn, thank you for such a informative and visual video, I stopped half way to try the french twist and wow it looked amazing, I am so grateful for all your knowledge, I have been poo free for months now and oil treatment daily, you look just as beautiful with out makeup as you look so beautiful with, which just proofs that you are so real, I just love you ❤️
I’m impressed by how many different styles you showed in a single video! Love it! Just tried short hair milkmaid braids for the first time! They turned out super cute! I cut my hair short about 6 months ago, and am trying to speed up the growth process; as I dearly miss my long curly hair.❤
You did the right thing starting anew. I had to cut a lot of mine off after I got major hair loss from covid :( I know your pain. We got this ❤
@@idiotsandwich4912 I also cut after hair loss but I actually enjoy short hair now 😆. It seems I like either short (like, very short) or bunned. Everything to just get hair out of my face.
This is so helpful! I have tried two of these hairstyles for medium length hair and they both work. Thank you for the effort you put into the video!
Wow, since I've found your channel, just wanted to say how incredibly healing it is for me to watch how you work with your curly/tangly hair...finger detangling before brushing, avoiding brushing when wet, patience lol...I feel like I FINALLY am learning how to care for my curly/super tangly hair (very similar to yours!)! I've struggled with my hair most of my life because I guess I expected it to behave like normal straight hair and always felt like I could never figure it out when I was treating it like everyone else's hair. I've started oiling and massaging my hair and it's growing fast and is so much healthier now. Thank you so much for sharing!
This is an encyclopedia of information, especially with all the links - thank you!
i am SO excited for this!! thank you!!!
What a treat to find your channel! I did the "no poo" method a while back, but got out of the habit and now that my hair is growing, I am inspired to treat it properly. Thank you for the ideas!
My hair is just a tad longer than shoulder length. I love all these hair tutorials. My favorites to try are the Milk Maid braids, the single and double French braids, and the French twist. Thank you for sharing. ❤🙏
Thank you so much! I was really waiting on this video and I can’t wait to try these hairstyles :)
I am sleeping in the milkmaid braids tonight for the first time ever. I normally sleep in a sidebraid but I have felt like it doesn’t protect very well. So far the milkmaid braids are comfortable enough to lie on so that’s a plus. Let’s see if they are still in place when I wake up in a few hours 😊
It stayed in place 😁 This will be my new sleeping style for sure 🙏🏻
My hair has thinned so much I have lost alot of my natural volume Radiation therapy 8yrs back so this is very awe inspiring,
How is your hair now?
I'm so happy I found your channel! Previously I would follow Brad Mondo and Blowout Professor. For a good month, I was set on just using professional hair products used in a salon, to give my hair that real health and beauty. But as challenging as my oily hair can be, I'm so excited to start my own natural hair care journey. And, yes. I was one of those girls who grew up wanting wild Pocahontas hair with curls that I could wear down all the time. But, after sitting through your explanation of why it's best to keep the hair up, I realized you make some great points, and I can still enjoy my hair with its up-do's. So, all in all, I can't wait to see results. I know it will take a while, but I'm patient. Anyway, thank you so much!
Girl, you are a blessing from above🌟Thank you!
I have very fine, straight hair and opted for the French braid tuck. My hair is slightly longer than shoulder length, so I was able to get away with one braid. This will probably be my go-to until my hair gets longer! Thanks, Katherine!
This is a video I didn't know I even wanted ❤ I've been so lazy with my hair for a while now and I've been putting it up while wet (even though I know I shouldn't) and then when I try to do something with it my hair is so...meh. The way you explained why I shouldn't put my hair up wet made so much sense and maybe it'll help me get out of that habit to reclaim my curl health!
Thank you for sharing all of this great info about gentle hair care! It's good to know about Holdi-Locks, too.
I have very fine, thin, straight hair that currently reaches my waist. I do a lot of field work that often involves ducking under trees and shrubs, with potential for branches and spiny leaves to get caught in my hair.
I stopped using conditioner I think in the summer of 2019, and with my boar bristle brush to move sebum down my hair strands, I don't miss conditioner at all. It's amazing how dependent I had thought I was on that class of product, that isn't needed.
My go to hairstyles are an off-center part with either 1) French braids that I form into a flat bun that can fit under my sun hat (which provides a lot more protection from the plants), or 2) French twists into rope twists , formed into a bun or 3) French twists until just past my ears, then leaving the back section of hair (lower than my ears) out of the initial French twists, after making a small rope twist on each side, I'll braid the two rope twists and remaining hair together, then form a flat, low bun with that, with the ends tucked in. The options with twists are the fastest to put up. I love how much volume and curliness my hair has when I take it out of these styles (for a short while, at least - the straightness re-exerts itself fairly quickly), although if I've been in the field, I do end up showering soon after I get home.
I often use bobby pins to fasten the buns, but another option I've been using in the past several years are flexi clips from Lilla Rose. (The new sport flexis have a figure-8 portion made of steel encased in a material that feels like silicone, with a plastic clip that slides into them, and can be used in different orientations depending on whether you need to hold more or less hair.) They've been staying put in my hair, which is amazing, since most hair clips and barrettes have a tendency to slide right out! The older style flexi clips, which I also love for a lot of different hairstyles, from buns to french twists to partially up styles, come in a variety of materials, including some rather elegant ones with beads in metal, wood, glass, plastic, or semi-precious stones. I imagine the ones with beads might have a bit more tendency to cause friction on hair strands, at times, in contrast to the sport flexis, which are likely gentler. There are also leather options and a wide variety of other hair ornaments, including hair sticks, u-pins (forks), bobby pins, hair bands, etc. I'm not a Lilla Rose stylist, but I definitely recommend checking them out!
Thank you I was looking forward to this video I'm excited to try these.
Excited to try these styles. Always seem to struggle with new styles but your video looks very easy to follow.
Great video! And I'm also excited for the boar bristle brush video coming soon.
I love your hair texture so much.
Definitely wildly helpful. Thank you!!
Hi Katherine, thank you so much for this! 🥰💕 You did a great job of demo-ing the double French braids. I did not think of TWO French braids!! Brilliant. I tend to leave it loose, or I use combs gently on the sides and then sort of twist up the ends and then use a hair clip to keep them there, but the ends are still exposed this way. I am not sure I have the length yet to do a great double French braid tuck, but I am close.... Thank you! 💕Now to train my arms to be ok braiding... they get tired up there in the air 😂
I love using coconut oil in my hair to keep it soft. In the winter time I love using just a bit of hair butter. I also use castor oil to help keep my ends soft and protected from breakage. I love your hair videos Cathrine! Keep em coming! ❤😊
Thank you so much! Struggling with allergies to coconut has opened my eyes to a whole new way to care for my hair and your videos have helped temendously!
What a great video! Thank you for all the great ideas! Love your channel!
I have been waiting for this! Yessss
Hi, I just wanted to add some advices as a person who likes to do hairstyles.
First of all, I you want to tie your hair with a piece of ribbon or thread but it constantly falls off, just fold it in the middle -ish and braid it with your hair as two strands of hair.( So the strands are hair and ribbon). At the end , you just twist it around the braid and tie it. Certified without slipping.
And I recommend using u-shaped pins for buns or even milkmaid braids, they're more comfortable and you don't need many to hold a bun.
Hope this helped, your video was really helpful ❤
Yay the video we have all been waiting for ❤
Great hairstyle ideas and definitely the video I was waiting for. I see all the love, time and care you put into it. I highly appreciate
Thank you 🙏🏽
Hey Katherine, you can get bobby pins that are already 'wide' (the two metal bars are far apart, I'm not sure what the English term is). They're super useful and don't grip your hair as much as bobby pins but still hold your hair in place. The milkmaid braid without the parting are so pretty, I'm going to try it out! I always hated the parting in the back lol
They are called u shaped hair pins, definitely a great investment and less damaging then Bobby pins. They need a little bit to get used to but are great.
@@alexisforeman7661 Thank you for the name, these are what I meant! They're so convenient, couldn't live without them :)
I've worn milkmaid braids for many years, and I mostly use just hair pins as well. I don't like how bobby pins pull at my scalp, it's really uncomfortable to me, so I only use them rarely.
I know them as Amish pins as well 😊
@jasdong6014 Evidently it does not work on 'loose' hair very well (say you're trying to just pin back your front pieces). They are too wide for this but if you want to make a bun or milkmaid braids (any type or hairstyle that involves it being 'up' in some kind of way) you 'hook' the one side of the pin into your braid/bun and hook the rest into the hair on your scalp. It creates a lot less tension than bobby pins and works just as well! In my native language they're called 'poking pins' which is exactly how you use them, you poke the loose hair into the tighter part of your hair (closer to the scalp or inside your bun/braid). Hope this helped :)
thank you for the tips!
Thank you for this video! it makes so much sense as to why my hair grew so long as a child and tween (It was in a braid or braided bun of some sort all the time) Side note: I had my doubts about the milk maid hair style and oh my goodness its adorable and oh so comfortabel compared to a traditional bun. I am hoping these tips will help my on my longer, stronger hair journey.
Hi Katherine great utube suggestions. Very insightful and creative. also I’d put some pretty sparkly barrettes in front and back too 💕💕⭐️
Thank you for all the insightful how to info. Your milk maid braids look amazing on you :)
Awesome! My husband prefers my hair in a bun so I ordered the holdi locks! ❤
First and for most ❤❤wow all your videos are just amazing to listen to. I have a shoulder length hair cut after suffering from thinning hair so started to keep my hair up and wow the ends are smooth less dry and moist 🙌🏻
❤will try the milkmaid hair styles 😊
So after going crazy over the horrible condition of my hair, I have been trying your method for two weeks now. It is starting to work! It was a bit itchy to start but now it doesn't seem to be so bad now. For the first time in a long time hair doesn't look as dry and frizzy. I will keep it up and see how it looks after a month
Great video. Love the chignon. Thank you 🙏
Thankyou for making the time to show people like me how to make my hair healthy and grow. I lived on the farm my family mom never taught me and didn’t know about hair oiling we use dish soap when we ran out of shampoo instead of driving miles away to town for shampoo. We never used conditioner but we had beautiful well water. God Bless you thankyou for making these educational videos. I never knew how woman in mideihile times looked after there hair I was surprised they used animal fat for shampoo. That blew my mind away. Really nice to meet you.
Fantastic, thank you!
I can't wait to watch this video all the way through! I had a pixie cut. Now I'm trying to grow my hair out to sell it. I currently have chin-length hair. I'm a new homemaker too, so I'm really struggling with how to keep my hair out of my way without resorting to ponytails (when longer) or a headband (which puts pressure right behind my ears, for all the one I have is really cute).
Hi Katherine, comment nr two because I read a few negative comments, & I just want to show some support. I loved this video! And I did not mind the promotion at all. So many others do it, why not you too?? And this was JAM packed with information and inspiration 🎉 (for me with my chin length fine hair that is growing and feels stronger thanks to YOUR videos & the information you share 💕). Lovely work... And it is funny, I think of you when I am tired and feeling ineffective and admire you putting out content AND sewing etc WHILE being a pregnant mother to active youngster... you get ALL the gold stars in my book! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very helpful! Thank you!
Its here im so hyped!!!
I bought recently a snood that I use to work. I don't do much in front cause I can't do braids and do have some difficulty to use bobby pins. I think I will try to use a silk band before so the snood will be a little more at the crown than at the front. I defininetely gonna check the holdi-lock. Looks easy to use and no need to do braids. Thank you for all of those protective hairstyles 🥰
So great. Thank you 🌸
Thank you! My hair isn't even that long and heavy (bra strap length), but I've been struggling to find protective styles that are comfortable, because my scalp is very sensitive to tension. Most days I either rock a plain braid or a scrunchie bun on top of my head, because anything else I've tried will create tension somewhere. I'm very excited to try some of these!
Have you considered the Gibson Girl look? I do something like this. It's very gentle, if you use old school hairpins. The Gibson Girl style works for all hair types and lengths. Here's a good video that shows the style: ua-cam.com/video/nPNfnmsDJOg/v-deo.html
@@RobinPoe Thanks for the recommendation! I'll try it later! 🥰
@@RobinPoe gonna check this out! My scalp is sensitive as well. And my hair love to slide out of every style, eh. They're weird mix of curly/wavy/straight so they literally poof out and slide out of every style at the same time, lol. That usually causes me to use very tight styles to make them stay in place at all. They poof out naturally anyway so buns end up looser than I start them, but still too tight and hurt my head...

Victory rolls work well for me. I pin them over a hair rat, and there's no tension at the front. Stylish, practical and quick. I have dyspraxia so if I can do them, they must be easy!
Hi Kathrine great utubes thanks who knew 💕 your hair is amazing I wish I had your wavy thickness what a blessing 💃🏾🍰☕️
Great channel! I need all help I can get with my hair! Thanks! 💗
Hi Katherine, great video. Thanks! It would be nice to see a video that shows some protective hairstyles for athletic activities (jogging, wearing bike helmets, etc), if you know of any durable hairstyles for an active, on the go lifestyle, please share!
I have done a faux (I think it's not technically the 'right' way to do a French twist, but I'm not sure) French twist for some years now. My hair has most recently been waist-to-hip (trimmed the split ends recently so it's on the shorter end), but it's straight, thin and fine.
I wish I just had a picture to show what it looks like but I don't often take pictures of my hair lately.
My principles with hair are as few securing tools as possible, definitely keeping ends hidden, and as smooth and volume-y as possible. Maybe the hair powder and other tips you mentioned may help with creating volume in my hair without needing to use bobby pins (which can cause me soreness; my hair can be so slippery). The 'pretty' hairstyles I do therefore can cause soreness, and maybe Holdilocks (or a kind of leather thing I can stick hairsticks through) may help. Because of money I haven't tried too many alternatives, and generally I felt like my hairstyles were okay, until your videos showed up and I am wondering what is causing my hair to shorten. I can imagine some people would be interested in the tricks I figured out to put long hair away, and to make thinner hair appear thicker, but I do want to find out even better ways. The least work for the greatest gain!
It took a while to get all the way through this one but your tips are informative. Now I know why I’m experiencing thinning at my temples so will be making some adjustments to my go- to top bun - THANK YOU! Your hair is beautiful & love your channel ❤
It's great to hear that you found the tips helpful! Thinning hair at the temples is a common issue, so you're definitely not alone. Making some adjustments to your hairstyle can definitely help, but it's also important to pay attention to your overall hair health. Are you using the right products for your hair type? Are you getting enough protein and nutrients in your diet? These are all factors that can contribute to healthy, strong hair.
Oh my GOSH, I feel so accomplished, not me already already having the same amber spray bottles filled with heavily diluted ACV & Ayurvedic essence! Even the silk scarf tying, I feel so accomplished, patting my hair with pride right now 😂 I am a 4B hair type natural so I sought new ideas in protective styling and I both learned and affirmed so much! 💖
going to try to master the no tension double hairstick bun for my reverse widows thing in front especially since i'm only 38 with knee length hair . ty
Thank you for explaining why my scalp gets so gross and itchy if I miss a day of washing my hair. I have long hair that tickles my butt and while it's thin it still takes a long while to dry. I don't blow dry it (but that dryer you mentioned intrigues me!). Anyway, I often put my hair up in a bun with a hair fork but my hair is never fully dry, and still a bit damp when I take it down at the end of the day. Now that I understand about the bacteria, it makes sense why sometimes when I miss a day of washing (not there yet) I need to do an ACV rinse. BTW I love your videos and have learned so much. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Katherine, thank you for all your work. I feel inspired. Also, you are very beautiful with your hair parted down the middle, but you are also just as beautiful with your hair combed back. Dot
Katherine. You asked me to contact you on Telegram. I have tried but it says I need your mobile phone number. Will you help me with this please? Dot
Great video you gave me so many great ideas thank you
Thanks!😊
Thank you Catherine❤ I
Hi Katherine make some styles like they did in history we can wear those styles too especially with your long hair and styles in front of head like they did with scarves or pearls I love that one so feminine adding fancy combs barrettes etc 💃🏾💕
This is the video I had been waiting for. I have fine hair. For more than a decade I've been trying to grow it long. It never gets past my shoulder blades. For several weeks I've been using following your historic hair care tips, using the herbal oil on Friday night, washing with clay on Saturday, and my hair is so oily! I'm going to try the dry shampoo and get the holdi-locks. Thanks for doing this research.
I'm just wondering if it's necessary to use the oil every time, or if you could maybe use it every other week or so. I'm also wondering about the holdi-locks - have you tried them yet?
Hello Katherine, thank You for your advice. Your clothes are very beautiful.
Girl, you have 10x more hair than me. Beautiful
Than you! I am trying them as you go over them but my hair is so thin, I look bald. But, I will definitely use them when I am home to prevent touching my hair and protect my ends.
I’ve been waiting for this one
Hey 3day ago i did not get notificación i had been waiting for this vídeo thank you
Very nice, thank you!
I LOVE the Ayurvedic hairspray, it’s perfect
I'm using corn flour with Coco powder as well but in a long run I found amla powder more beneficial for my hair. It just looked fuller and healfier
