I want to fish with you!! that's my kind of fishing , with a traditional spey rod, and a classic Willie gun!!! I'm assuming that is grand river in michigan? great stuff. Robert from st joe river area in indiana. cheers
Well if you don't mind driving a few hours . . . :) It's actually the Grand River in Ontario, due east of Grand Rapids, MI by about 200 miles and about 380 miles from St. Joseph. The river empties into Lake Erie.
Here's one version of my take on it: ua-cam.com/video/gSPDPCZAn7k/v-deo.html I tie it one of two ways: lightly dressed with a small head and as in this video, more heavily dressed with a large head to create turbulence to kick the materials around. In the video I was using the lighter dressed version without the copper tube head weight as the pool is slow, so I wanted it to be able to move about in the more gentle flows.
Hey! I'm new to the spey world (and very addicted already) and I'm from the SW Ontario area. Is this the lower grand or middle? It looks like amazing water to get used to the spey way of things? Just looking for a good stretch for this! Any info helps!
It's in the lower section, but unfortunately this lovely stretch of deeper water was filled in during the early season high water event. It probably won't hold fish like it once did. It's a shame as this once was a great pool.
Airflo Ridge running line. A bit noisy but it shoots very well and handles better than mono.

hooked4lifeca ah man. That is too bad. Too much silt and erosion I'm guessing...
is it a bucktail willie gun?
jbochene Yes, tied traditionally in the round.
this camera work was frustratingly poor ...I gave up watching about half way after looking at water mostly.....sorry
