Dude! Sharezees on that beast of a spider, Sam. I LOVE spider crab, so sweet, stunning meat, waaaaaaaaay better than brown crab! Nice treat to get a video on a Friday, brother, hope they ain't't working you too hard, we need you out fishing, NOT working!!!
Hey up matey! Yes a Friday treat for you. I think I’m going to start doing Friday uploads now mate as it gives me time to enjoy a lay in on a Sunday if I’m off work 😂.
Hey there Stipo! They do get a lot bigger than this one matey. Hopefully I can catch one that’s a lot bigger for you to see in the next video. Thanks again for watching it’s much appreciated!
Hi there Mike if you can get in touch with a guy called Craig Thorne via Facebook he’s your man. He also has a website as well but if you can’t find what your after you can contact him and put in requests. The website is www.cweights.co.uk/ I hope that helps.
Eh up Sam, when I'm tope fishing I use a 8 or 10/0 circle hook and when I get a bite of a tope I wait until it develops into a proper screaming run and then just tighten the lever of star drag, no need to strike and the fish is on. We have massive tope off our coast I'd say the average fish is 40lb and 50s and 60s are regularly caught, good vid as always mate 👍
Hey there matey Yeah the circles don’t seem to fail. I have stopped using them as much though as I’m trying to target the Huss and Eels as well. I have noticed the Huss don’t get hooked very well or if at all and oftern drop the bait on me at the side of the Kayak. Standard J hooks seem to work better for them but iv definitely had much more dropped baits from the Tope which is frustrating. I’ve literally just unboxed a order I made from VMO.. Got some nice boxes of 10/0 sakuma 541s ready to rock for the next trip. Have you tried a lever drag from the Kayak before. I think they are a game changer compared to the star drags. Tight lines buddy!
@@FISHISLANDTV oh a see your point regarding the other species mate and yes lever drags are fat easier to use compared to fiddling with a star drag when fighting a tope or any other fish for that matter 👌👌
I always keep the trace short. The longer the trace the harder it is to control the fish at the kayak. A 6/0 owner circle seems to be the best size hook in my opinion and just let the run develop. Nice fish 👍🏻
I have noticed that as well mate I fished a longer trace once and I found it quite difficult to control the fish. I’m thinking I may fish a fixed rig from now on also. I have had it a few times the ledger has slid up past the leader knot and can’t come back over it.. nightmare! The issue with using the circle hooks out there is there’s much less chance of hooking a nice BullHuss… next time I’m just going for rope only il do circles it will be much better.. how do you find it with T Baring the fish off with circles? I struggle so end up having to bring them up to unhook by hand. Thanks for watching it’s very much appreciated!
With the owner circles the barbs are fairly small. I still crush them and use a small square of rubber to hold the bait on the hook. They t-bar off quite easily because there’s no barb and the hook hold is always strong due the in-cure of the circle.
the circles iv been using (varivas 8/0) have made me struggle to Tbar off the fish and I have barbs squashed also.. you must have a better technique then me 😂 I have to give it a try next time!
Yes I know exactly what you mean matey. I believe (after watching footage from my cameras under water) the tope grabs the bait swims off with it to get away from any others competitively feeding then once clear of any competition then swallows the bait. I try and hit them during the initial take so to prevent deep or gut hooking them. The same theory works for bass as well. Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated
Hi there buddy I’m not sure if they have any left in stock but if you contact them and ask the guy that runs the company called Craig will be more than happy to help and tie some to your preference. www.cweights.co.uk/
Is that just a wireless trolling motor you've bought and fitted or adapted a standard motor. Only asking as seen a wirelessly controlled one on ebay for sale . Thanks
I do both mate recently the sides of the drop off have fished much better than right in the deeper water. The deeper part of the trench can be sometimes quite snaggy or full of lobster pots so it’s easier on the shallower parts. You definitely have more options of species in the deeper part though! Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!
You could be right matey. sometimes though if it’s too long it’s harder to handle them at the side of the Kayak they try to swim from one side to the other underneath which can be a bit sketchy.. I think you’re right though I’m going to make up some more rigs this weekend so will make some longer ones too! Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!
After a dropped bait with Tope used to leave it and a lot of the time they would come back and take the bait again and run off before striking 😊
Noce one mate il give that a go next time for sure! Thanks for watching!
I know its not the first time using that intro but its amazing and so much better than the old one
I’m glad you like the intro!
Thanks for checking out the video it’s much appreciated!

I know EXACTLY what's up, they pick up the bait, INSTANTLY know, “Oh shit, it's Sam, RUUUUUUUUUN!!!” 😁

Hahah could be mate could be!
Thanks for watching as always!
You might call this a small tope, but i find it a more than nice fish 👍
Thanks for the upload. Greetz from Stipo from Holland
Hey there Stipo!

Hi great video as ever👍
Loved the feathers you were using can you give me some more details of where you purchased them !
Cheers Mike

Next time I get the chance il just fish the whole session with circles.. I bet the difference on hook up rate will be massive.
Use smaller baits and size 8/0 circle hooks

I was taught when tope fishing never touch the rod till the fish goes for its second run.. works for me

Another great video thank you interested in your kayak set up if you could share some info with me minus the cameras of course thank you
Hi there Chris it’s called a Viking profish reload. check them out they are great. I will do a show and tell video on my Kayak asap.
I’m moving to Pembrokeshire soon and really can’t do with the hassle of a boat looking for good stability and comfort
Oh they offer both mate it would be ideal for you if paddling out a far way too
Is that just a wireless trolling motor you've bought and fitted or adapted a standard motor. Only asking as seen a wirelessly controlled one on ebay for sale . Thanks
This one is called a bixpy motor matey. the remote is wireless but there is a cable from the battery to the prop on the rudder.
@@FISHISLANDTV thankyou
Do you fish the top of the trench just befor the drop or the bottom where it flattens out?
I do both mate recently the sides of the drop off have fished much better than right in the deeper water.

Maybe a longer trace is needed

👏👏👍👍
😎🎣🐷🏴☠️
Your striking too early, let the bite develope, also use slightly smaller, streamlined baits and your hook-up rate will increase 👍
Thanks for the tips will give them a try on the next session matey! Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!
