    • @TheSkiMonster
      @TheSkiMonster  Рік тому +2

      @Matthew Cassatt we'll see what we can do! Maverick 95 is definitely more stable at high speed and on hard snow due to the metal construction. The Ripstick 96 Black would be more comparable as it has a beefed up construction with the "Quad Rod" reinforcement. Both versions of the Ripstick 96 will be a touch lighter, have a shorter turn radius and overall be a little more versatile than the Maverick. Maverick edges out the Ripstick on hard snow stability, but Ripstick makes up for it in versatility.

    I picked up a pair of Serpo's last season and this has been my go to ski ever since. While I own a few pair, this would make a great one quiver ski almost anywhere. It carves and holds an edge on the groomers, and has enough floatation for me on all but the deepest days. A great pair of skis to travel with, it'll ski anywhere in any conditions!

      I've logged about 15 days on the Serpo this season and I agree 100% with what you are saying. I have two other skis in my quiver, but if I can only keep one, it's the Serpo all day. One of my favorite all time skis.
      Touching on something George mentions in the video, and maybe you noticed it as well. As compared to other similar skis, there is a bit of unpredictability to the Serpo. Unlike an Enforcer, for example (which until this season I had skied most days over the past 5 years on some flavor of Nordica Enforcer), which is totally predictable for me, the Serpo will surprise you every now and then with a little feedback you weren't expecting. To me... this just adds to the fun of the ski, as it keeps things from being boring 😀but others might not like it as much.

    Hi went out of the box on this ...was a great deal on a pair of K2 Mindbender 89 Ti near me so after checking out the ski online I went with it. Supposed to be great on groomers as well as managing the less optimum crudy days and will be better than my Volkl 81s in deeper stuff. Short turning radius should mean it won't be a big learning curve for me. Cheers , good luck with your search !

    These videos are awesome! I'm in the market for a all-mountain ski for the east coast. My time is spent mostly teaching my kids on weekends, carving fast long turns at night with the occasional trip in trees as well as a couple touring trips every winter. I want a one ski quiver. I'm 182cm, 190 lbs intermediate/advanced skier. It looks like Maverick, Ripstick and Serpo could be good options. Are there other options such at the Justis ? What would you recommend and in what size.

    • @TheSkiMonster
      @TheSkiMonster  9 місяців тому +2

      @maximelarose8014, all three of these skis would be awesome options for a one ski quiver! They can take you from trees, to bumps, to groomers to touring days with ease. If we had to sway you in one direction it would be towards the Ripstick, it is the most well rounded option of the bunch. The Serpo would be a bit heavier than you might like for touring and lacks a bit of maneuverability compared to the Ripstick and Mav 95. The Maverick is great all over the hill and is more agile than a Serpo but not as nimble as the Ripstick. The Ripstick carves a really mean turn and can keep up with a Serpo or Maverick or Justis on trail but it will be the most capable off trail or in more technical terrain compared to the other options. The Ripstick 96 black edition is our top tested ski, we can’t say enough good things about it. If you’re looking for the best “one ski quiver” option, Ripstick 96 black edition is the one.

    hey, can you please compare the elan ripstick 106 and the black crow ferox freebird?

    • @TheSkiMonster
      @TheSkiMonster  Рік тому +1

      @Jett Iseman that ferox is a 110 waisted powder ski; compared to the Elan Ripstick 106 the ferox prefers softer deeper snow. The elan will feel more composed on firm terrain and can arc a more precise turn while still being maneuverable in tight terrain. The ferox is incredibly nimble but is definitely a more playful powder ski, where the Elan is a more well rounded all mountain ski. If you’re looking for a wider waisted all mountain ski that can arc turns and rip through the trees; go ripstick. If you’re looking for a nimble, light, playful powder ski; go ferox

    Hi thanks for the review, looking for a wider but versatile ski, currently ski a Volkl RTM 81, mostly been considering A Kendo 88 or ENforcer 88 but your review on the Serpos might be less demanding but still give me what I need for gtoomers and light powder .( east coast skier advanced ). How do you compare a Serpo to a Volkl Kendo 88 or Nordica Enforcer 88 ? thanks !

    • @TheSkiMonster
      @TheSkiMonster  Рік тому +1

      @Peter, The Kendo is the most one dimensional offering of this comparison. It grips well and carves precise turn but doesn’t offer as much maneuverability as an Enforcer 88 or the Serpo. The Enforcer 88 feels nearly as precise but offers more energy than the Kendo, tails are also easier to release making it better for shorter turns or variability over a wider variety of terrain. The Serpo is just as powerful as the Kendo or Enforcer but the wider platform makes it the most versatile of the group. Our testers love the performance a Serpo offers on a groomer while offering a fair amount of maneuverability for a more frontside focused ski. Go Kendo if you want a smooth, quiet, powerful feel. Go Enforcer if you want a ski that crushes groomers but is a bit easier to balance on than the Kendo and can make a wider variety of turn shapes. Go Serpo if you want a wider option that loves to carve high angle turns but want a wider waist width to offer some versatility over different types of snow.

    • @Peter-do8gy
      @Peter-do8gy Рік тому

      thanks for a very informative response.... I was leaning away from the Enforcer 88 a bit because I got the impression that it might be the stiffest of the group but i guess the tip design and extended tip rocker makes up for the heavier weight of the Enforcer... the Serpo has a higher turn radius than either of the other 2 ... would this make this ski work better on longer wider turns as opposed to either the Kendo or Enforcer 88? peter@@TheSkiMonster

    • @TheSkiMonster
      @TheSkiMonster  Рік тому

      @H8 Marxists, Ripstick is a lighter ski so its possible they feel a bit shorter or more nimble when compared to other skis in the same category that have a heavier metal laminate construction. Over the last few seasons our testers are not reaching for a longer length, we are sticking true to normal ski size.
