Porsche 911 (87): Wheel Well & Fender Restoration

  • This film is about the restoration of the wheel wells and fenders of my Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 from 1987.
    It all started with a carful cleaning, but I soon noticed that under its so-called rust protection some corrosion issues were waiting to be dismantled. Repair panels were handcrafted from sheet metal and butt welded into the car.

      An 87 Targa is a great car. I’ve only just restored a Targa roof for a friend and seeing his car in my workshop from time to time has rectified my miss-belief that Targa’s only work with the small body. And you have the G50 which is awesome.
      What colour is yours?

    • @neilthaxter9800
      @neilthaxter9800 3 роки тому

      @@GreasyFingers It does indeed have the G50. It's currently badly painted in Guards Red, the original colour is Cassis Red Metallic (80D) which I plan on returning it to when I eventually get to that point. I was very unsure about this colour, but it has really grown on me. Very retro 80s feel.
      It needs quite a bit of work before paint though. Outer sills, kidney bowls and door jams are the biggest issues. Plus some minor work around the inner/outer front wings. That I know of so far! 😬
