Looks nice, Rich. How is the boot up time when starting the truck? I know some take up to a minute to boot up after starting the vehicle. I have a coworker who installed a Tesla screen in his Cadillac and wow what a difference it made. Please keep us up to date with radio. 🍻
Love the upgrade! I hate the small display my 2015 F150 XLT has. Would a radio from a Lariat or King Ranch plug and play? My old eyes need a bigger screen.
@pzmqyhniq Rich would know more than I would, but I am pretty sure everything behind your radio is the same as one with the better radio. Just on yours, not all of it is hooked up. By upgrading your radio with one from one of those trim packages, it should be a simple plug and play using all of the hookups, and you should be all set.
I love the upgrade and have been watching other channels that have done similar. I'd absolutely recommend keeping the the OEM parts as the longevity of the "upgrade" units is questionable. I hope all works well for you and I'll try to remember to check back in on this in a year to see how it is going.
Rich. THANK YOU for this vid!!! I almost hit save before 👍. The system on my '15 XL is annoying as hell. Especially the interface to the steering wheel controls! And demanding I connect my phone to it. I don't need half the crap including the screen. It's got roll up windows and I'm happy sticking with white teeth. TTD list includes digging out the ancient Alpine system in milk crates I installed converting my '84 farm truck into a rolling sound booth with a 6 disc CD player back when. Plug for an MP3 would be nice but mehhh. Good thing we have texting now. My volume control was Spinal Tap 11 most of the time with the mute button for intersections etc on a handy remote. Not a huge fan of Sirius anyway. Hands free calls? If I'm driving the phone stays off anyway. Thanks for showing me and everyone else the procedure and layout. Messing around with old plastic parts, tabs and wiring in any vehicle isn't brain surgery but it don't take much to snap things. I'd like to get rid of the screen entirely but may have to go with this instead. The hazard/traction control pop outs up top could come in handy with the systems I need to relocate. Very much appreciated Brother. 👍👍 Want to know what you're in for with the upcoming election? Keep an eye on the Provincial election we just had in Brittish Columbia, 🇨🇦. The in your face vote fraud is disgusting.
@@jagflhtc I got mine on Amazon for like $200, I got a cheaper one so if I didn't like it I wouldn't be out $600. It works just as good as the expensive one.
This makes me wonder how today’s vehicles with screens will survive years from now. Screens do fail with age and will these vehicles be supported by the manufacturer? Many vehicles without their screens functioning are not operational 😮
Radio Amazon Zlink 5

I’m a sucker for touch screens, that thing looks sweet in there
That's nice! I wish they had something for the 2016 E350 cutaway.
Nice little upgrade.
Do the stock speakers sound louder with the aftermarket radio?
Do you need wifi/hotspot or a SIM card to use maps?
Maybe 2018 and up EXPEDITION as well?😊
Man, what a hell of an upgrade, that looks slick!
Does Sirius work with this unit?
Got the same one and I can not connect power to it
Main plug was different do you have to get another adapter
Same problem here

I am pretty sure it can. You would need a new bezel from one of those trim packages to work.
@@bearing_aficionado ok, yeah. That makes sense. 👍

Absolutely incredible film Rich
@fordbossme do you know if this install would be similar on a 2017 F250?
Yes it would, click the link in the comments and read up on it
Nice work Ford Boss. You’re a vehicle savant.
That's a pretty nice upgrade.
