And then, of course, I'd go out and purchase something really similar to what I'd just decluttered!
I totally agree this "for whom" question is important. Especially on UA-cam, it's like...to seem virtuous? To all of you? But I don't think there's actual virtue in having fewer primers, it's just a matter of tailoring your stuff to the life you yourself want. But it's confusing because it can start to feel like a "minimalist is next to godliness" kind of thing.
I almost made a similar comment and then I read yours. Now all I have to say is that I whole heartedly agree. I love these declutters because they seem the most mindful, the most thoughtful, not UA-cam clickbait: “I decluttered half my collection” or “everything has to go”! For example, I’m fine with having a lot of eyeshadow palettes, but I own only two concealers, because that reflects what I like and how I use makeup. I love a declutter that reflects the individual, not UA-cam expectations.
Yes! I'm even okay with having A FEW items in my collection that I rarely use, as long as they make me happy (for me, this category is glittery eyeshadows). this is just what i needed to see this morning! need to clean out all my makeup today. have you ever bought something you didn't need to sort of make up for the fact that you didn't like something else you bought but didn't need? and then because all that excess is bothering you, just you buy more to try to somehow correct that? well, i have, and that's how my collection blew up by accident, and i know that really, the only cure is to get rid of that bad stuff. pretty interesting psychological process- if you take away the bad so you can focus on the good. if you keep trying to buy more to fix things, it just gets worse.

Such a calming, logical declutter! I find it very interesting hearing you speak about your base makeup because you have such a unique way of applying your base. For me it's just a bit of concealer and eyebrows most days, but I go 'all out' with tinted moisturizer for events on the weekends or for date nights. I personally wear the Nars Pure Radiant tinted moisturizer in shade Light 0 Terre Neuve, pale enough for my very fair skin and it has neutral undertones.
One of my favorite beauty blogs, Bad Outfit Great Lipstick, has been raving about those YSL concealers. I must try then because they seem right up my alley!
Including brows, I call mascara and base 'unmakeup'. Generally speaking they're not about expressions of color and texture (though I imagine it's possible).

I remember way back in your no buy days you speaking of longing for multiple primers, and I’m glad that now that you have them you still love having options. It wasn’t a wanting to want, it was a genuine desire. I, like you, try to keep my base makeup to a minimum (except primers. I also LOVE primers and having multiple primer options). Some because I’m picky. Some because every time I branch out with heftier foundation type products I end up breaking out. Some because I’d rather spend my budget on more of the “fun” makeup. I’m currently forcing my way through a NYX control freak brow gel and I HATE it. I keep saying I’m going to spend some of my budget on a better gel, but I haven’t yet because I’ve been saving my budget for a potential upcoming life change. Maybe once this change comes to fruition (or not) I’ll invest in a better gel. Your declutter was such a success and so fun to watch. Thanks for being you
Your videos are always calming. I’m trying to use up what I have for every category but it feels like I’m not even putting a dent in anything - probably because I have too much and switch products a lot. I seriously don’t need any bronzer, blush, highlighter, or eyeshadow palettes for the next 2 decades (I know that’s unsanitary, but I’m going to have to toss things without a dent, and that makes me sad).
Does the Erin’s face SPF with peptides leave a white cast. I have med tan skin. Thank you. Some of the things like the pumpkin mask look awesome. I’ll check them out after I use up some stuff.
Hannah, you finally reminded me of what the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer reminds me of! (Yes, I know I ended that sentence in a preposition.) The YSL one, but higher coverage! Please try the one in the shade "Brightening". It is pinkish, but is fantastic for fair skin. The texture is very much like Touche Eclat.
I actually had it once a long time ago and it was too pink for me! if they had it in a brightening yellow it might work? I also can't with that sponge tip. Good to know it's a formula dupe though!
This happened to me sometime last year too, I was using my Vichy Serum 89 sample and watching a Samantha Ravndahl video in the background and she applies it at the same time.
I’ve had the Bareminerals stick foundation for about three months with no strange scent issues. The product still works as beautifully as it on day one. I think your issue with with the sample may have just been a fluke!

Someone commented in another video of yours - a check in perhaps - asking why you don't monitize your videos. I know you say you have but I actually rewatched this to check... no ads. You might want to look in your settings? Your declutter motivated me to organize and declutter my beauty space a bit, so thank you for the inspiration. I actually decluttered my single shadows a couple of days ago which made it so that I have enough room in my vanity for ALL of my makeup. I am still using another shelf but it's more so for ease of use and I now have a "shop my stash" area, or items that I want to bring forward to use for the upcoming weeks - I'm not sure I'll keep the same items in for a month but it is a new movement for me inspired by you. Samantha March may have helped but I think you reaching me made me just pay more attention to her SMS vids. Lots of Hannah inspired activity over the last month :) I started shopping my stash during your last video and I fell in love with a palette of mine that I knew I liked, but that I didn't know I would love. I even found that it had shades that I thought were a hole in my collection so I was pretty stoked.

What are your thoughts on hourglass veil thing to wear on its own? I'm looking to brighten my under eyes but my eye shape isn't conducive to wearing regular concealer without appearing very creasy.
it could work if you love illuminating products, but it sheers out quite a lot, almost like a tint. If you are trying to cover dark circles it will probably disappoint. But it they had a lighter shade I would 100% use it on its own.
Since you like a foundation free look, i would highly recommend the charlotte tilbury light wonder. I use shade 2.0 its perfect for fair neutral! It's annoying expensive (to me....44 bucks!) but I'm surprised how long it lasts! It contains 1.4 ounces, so you get a little more than most foundations. It's light coverage and dewy, but not wet looking
Dior face and body foundation also works for a natural skin look. You get bang for your buck! $40 for 1.6 oz. 😍 I’ll be picking it up in the next Sephora vib sale.
I think you might really like using cushion foundations. If fragrance isn't an issue for you, you can choose from some of the higher end K beauty brands that come with refills & have skincare ingredients as well as high spf. Or just go with a drugstore affordable option. I don't use the cushion that comes with the compact unlss I'm touching up on the go, I use a beauty sponge just like any other foundation. But I find cushion foundations very convenient & they give my dry skin the finish & sheer coverage & natural radiance I like for everyday. Love your nails

I don't love that Voluminous burgundy either; the formula in mine is so gloppy. I have been trying the new Complexion Rescue stick as well, and mine has no discernible odor. Perhaps yours has absorbed some primer and that mixed weirdly? I'd try wiping off the top quarter and cleaning the cap with a q-tip and alcohol. The liquid form of Complexion Rescue is my fave, so sheer and luminous.
Tip! L’Oréal lash primer is amazing but you have to do one eye at a time, apply primer then immediately follow with mascara before it starts to dry. Why bother? If you have oily lids/lashes and have trouble getting mascara to adhere to your lashes it provides grip… in my experience as a pro makeup artist it works as good or better than any more expensive lash primer I’ve tried. 😘💕💕💕
This lip colour is incredible. Searching for a dupe in my arsenal ASAP, Temptalia is unhelpful. Best bottom lash mascara IMO is heroine kiss me. I can cry or go on a holiday to humid AF Singapore and it won't budge.
I've actually searched for dupes for this in other non-drugstore formulas because I find the soft matte lip cremes to be very temporary on the lips (the opposite of long-lasting). I'd love to find it in a more tenacious formula. Let me know if you do!

I've only used one stick foundation: the Make Up For Ever HD stick. It smells "off" after use, too. Maybe it's just a stick foundation thing?

I use the L’Oréal one you decluttered. It’s perfect because it’s enough to define them for a day to day look.

i hate the ordinary foundation with a vengeance. my 60 year old skin usually looks 45, when i tried on the ordinary foundation i immediately looked 75. i have never before seen such an effect - i threw the stuff in the trash.
