As someone just getting into this, I have a BlueWallet hot wallet and am looking to move to coldcard. Your Sparrow wallet one was def a couple steps deeper than I am right now, but this one was great…and multisig is my next step. Way to be cranking out this great content…really appreciate. Bitcoin adoption is heavily going to depend on usability, which is a bit steep at the moment, but content like this and minimalistic UI like BlueWallet can make it happen.
Great video. All that micro SD swapping to complete partially signed transactions is a nice security gap, but tedious. Probably best to never touch cold storage keys and just have a hot wallet for transactions (use and replace style)… 🤷🏽♂️ lol
Rhett, thanks for the video! Any advice on BlueWallet not recognizing an imported transaction file? Coldcard will sign the transaction but for the step at 6:45 in you video blue wallet just goes back to the previous screen without recognizing the txn.
I prefer just using sparrow on desktop but both are safe. Really comes down to personal preference IMO. Sparrow might have a few more features / easier to use IMO
Great video but damn you're turbo-charging through the content bro lol. I literally had to pause and rewind 10x. For such videos, its OKAY if it's longer than 10 minutes 😂
Cheers m8. I'm definitely worried about wasting people's time in tutorials like this - feels like the default on UA-cam for some of these btc tutorials is like over an hour - might have overdone it though with sub 10 mins haha
None specific to Blue Wallet Obviously worse privacy than just not keeping your balance on your iPhone though - probably no one will see your balance at your desktop computer but phone is more public by nature
Can I turn on the ColdCard NFC feature and then tap my coldcard on the BlueWallet via an NFC-enabled smartphone to sign the transaction that way instead of using the microSD card?
Hi! Your videos are the best. After a small test transaction, to send additional funds to blue wallet from another wallet, do I need to move the sd card to cold card again? I can’t find where you address this.
Yeah every time you make a new transaction you need to add a new partially signed bitcoin transaction to the SD card -> sign the psbt on the coldcard (move the sd to the coldcard) -> broadcast the transaction (sd card back to computer)
I’m probably not going to use them for a while, if ever, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world. If bitcoin is this antifragile unbreakable money that we think it is and it gets brought down by jpegs guess we were all wrong 🤷🏻♂️ better to find out now.
@@RhettReisman I am looking forward to it, it's a important part of the ecosystem and important more people learn about it. More people = more strength in BTC! 😎
Yeah you need sparrow or electrum or some other wallet 1) download sparrow 2) export coldcard xPub to sparrow 3) receive bitcoin to a sparrow address 4) to ever spend from that sparrow wallet you’ll need your coldcard You can think of sparrow like the ledger live or trezor suite of coldcard
@@RhettReisman any chance of a short video showing that process? I have to imagine there’s loads of people like me, who found it easy to get setup on an exchange then buy BTC and move it to BlueWallet on their iPhones, only to be a bit confused how to get it to their MK4 or other cold storage from there.
i have the same issue, just get an error when i try to import transaction, but i just figured out a way around it. I click the three dots in the top right corner to open up settings in the bluewallet, tools, broadcast transaction and then open the signed file and it worked that way
Maybe I’m too green on this, but how would someone back up this new wallet (watch only) on blue wallet with no keys. Say I lost my phone in a boating accident, or got a new phone and the blue wallet app didn’t jive or something. Is the exporting the wallet from the cold card going to have the same address and still be holding the bitcoin I have stored in there?
If you had the real wallet on coldcard you could back up the private key on steel plates etc. Exactly, at any point you could recreate the watch only wallet using the backup of your coldcard.
So I’ve tried to recreate the watch only wallet-got a new phone. I couldn’t get it to work using the same steps (bitcoin wallet watch only shows up, but no amount of bitcoin shows). This concerns me. The only way I was able to restore the existing wallet was to use my old phone and capture the wallets QR code and convert it to the new one. Am I missing a step?
I bought this piece of shit and it's simply useless, the NFC doesn't work and the transactions don't complete, it gives an error and doesn't go. Bad advice, I ended up with a very expensive paperweight
@leleco0568 . . . I had the same problem. Update the software on their website. Then format the micro disk to FAT 32. 🎉. Crypto dad also has a good video on how to do it. Good luck ❤
Anyone want a Bluewallet multisig video?
Please do it. It’s next step in the Blue Wallet x Cold Card saga

Badass, Rhett. Your making a super stealth wallet. Great info, brilliant idea.
Thanks George, cheers :D

I haven’t run into that before :/ maybe try setting up the connection again? Sorry for the late response
Hey Rhett, which wallet is safer to use? Sparrow or Bluewallet on mobile?

Very cool, I’ve been looking for a way to view my ColdCard/Sparrow desktop balance on iOS. Any privacy concerns with using Blue Wallet you see?
None specific to Blue Wallet

Will you make video how to move btc from ledger to cold card?
Will do :)

Yes 🔥🔥🔥
Wow is that also possible , with sparrow or muun ?
Not sure about Muun, think it should be possible on sparrow if you had an NFC enabled device

what do you think of ordinals and BRC-20?

Can I still use blue wallet in an air gapped fashion on a desk top computer? I would rather use the mobile app for view only.
Yeah you can do the exact same thing I did in this video using Bluewallet for Desktop or for Mobile
Can you cover BISQ and using it with Linuix/Debian?
I don’t have a Linux machine right now (besides my raspberry pi haha) but I am planning to do a BISQ tutorial at some point

Facts 🔥🔥🔥
I have a blue wallet of 10,000 bitcion on watch wallet, is there anything you can do about it please?
What do you want to do with your watch only wallet?
What size micro sd card is required? Would 64Gb be sufficient?
64gb is enough 32 is probably fine
can you use any micro sd and sd card or does it need to be specific
Any one will work
Great, really helpful. Thanks!
Happy to help :)
I just scanned my xpub from Sparrow to Blue Wallet. Anything wrong with this route?
No, that seems fine

Does blue wallet have coin join?
Not that I know of here’s a list of wallets that do: en.bitcoin.it/wiki/CoinJoin#Sounds_great.21_Where_is_it.3F
I like blue wallet interface but sparrow has better features…
Yeah 100%
I just get Error: The selected file does not have data that can authorise the transaction. Cold card exported three files and none of them worked.
Did you ever find a resolution for this? It sounds like it was generating corrupt files
I tried doing the same operation again and it just worked. Couldn’t tell you why.

I’ve never run into this issue - not sure
Here’s the watch only wallet documentation from BlueWallet hope that helps bluewallet.io/watch-only/
There has got to be an easier way. This all sounds like a foreign language. 🥺
Good for you though. I like that Coldcard is bitcoin only.
Yeah Coldcard is 🔥🔥🔥

@@RhettReisman No you did good. Im just new to the technical side.
Useing android emulator with blue wallet on windows I was able to easily sign a multi sig transaction with only one sig.
That’s interesting - like you had Android emulator of BlueWallet + Android on windows for a 2 of 3 multisig?
Yep
Wanted a 3rd signer on windows, multisig hot wallet 2 of 3
And sent out without confirmation from other devices
