- The police arrest Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), a soldier from the future, and detain him in a police station for interrogation, leaving Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), who has been "targeted for termination", relatively unprotected.
As Reese informed the police, the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a life-like killer cyborg, also from the future, would have no trouble at all in quickly finding wherever Connor was to eliminate her.

Absolutely no one else could’ve played the terminator. Not Sly, Lance, OJ or even the geezer that played Reese. Arnie’s movements and firearms’ discipline was god tier stuff.

Fun fact: Henriksen was James Cameron’s original choice to play The Terminator. But it got vetoed by the studio because they wanted someone bigger & with more name recognition. Cameron made it up to Lance though by casting him as Bishop the android in the sci-fi classic Aliens 2 years later.

I never liked that they cut the police chief scene. He gives Reese a gun, finally believing on him.
Because that's not realistic. What police chief is gonna give an arrested criminal a loaded weapon? Nor does an precinct assault by a crazed gunman make Reese suddenly truthful. Never knew there was a deleted scene like that, but glad they cut it.
@@EtoTheKay Who gives a fuck, its a sci-fi movie with a guy pretending to be a cyborg. In the reign of creativity everything is palpable, if done right like master Cameron does. Besides, there were hints of the chief believing on him prior to that just to add even further.

Well, they gotta do something. I mean to them he's just a guy with two guns who might be on drugs or wearing body armor given bullets aren't affecting him.
He comes in the front door and you KNOW what's coming. Got a real Assault on Precinct 13 vibe from this scene. Very disturbing to see so many police officers murdered. Doesn't matter if they have the Terminator outnumbered and outgunned, they just don't know how to deal with him. In 1984, the only ones capable of stopping just ONE Terminator are probably the National Guard and Resistance fighters from the future.

Let alone the after-attack evaluation. A single person did nearly nothing wrong in the attack on a police station, and the cops did nearly everything right even though they were surprised. This sort of attack would be part of SWAT (and military elite forces) training around the country, to learn from and try to prevent. For the next several years any sort of pattern killer would find themselves the target of some very angry police officers, until they saw that the face was different from the one in the police video records.
It would also likely include the Tech Noir nightclub shooting, with eyewitness evidence if possible. You'd get a reference to two people shooting at each other, and hopefully it would differentiate between one person who was spray and pray, and one who tried to get people out of the way.
Part of this might include the investigation of a gunshop owner found murdered in his own store, by a gun that he was selling. Going through the gun records vs sales they might identify the four guns missing and match them to the weapons used, though that would take a few days to compare (plus if other people got in and stole other guns/ammo/stuff)
Now imagine if anyone finds the videotape of Kyle Reese talking about an invincible killer robot from the future

This scene is fucking fantastic seeing all those guys get destroyed lol. Lance Hendrickson with the “Hey!” Before getting capped is definitely funny. You can barely hear him grunt when he gets shot which kinda sucks...
