It’s what all content creators need to do. Mine didn’t have the issues your’s did. I inspected the tang and saw no alignment issues or gaps. Blade seemed straight to me. Maybe they have improved their quality? So glad to hear yours don't have any of the issues. Maybe mine was a one off? It definitely is enjoyable and gets sharp. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! 😃🙏
As a bladesmith I like the style and have made a couple similar to it. Namely made the handle a little more ergonomic with good fit and finish and with a heat treat I know is correct. If you have to hone the knife in the middle of food prep, then the heat treat is off. Even at 57-58 RC you should have no issues with 1095 holding a good edge. Totally agree with you here! I think that is a big part of what sets apart a good knife and a subpar knife is the proper heat treat. If the heat treat is bad, no amount of anything can fix it unless they are going to anneal and re heat treat. Which, most people don't have the equipment to re-heat treat 😀

In total honesty my father used my coolina chef's knife to cut raw asparagus and it dulled the edge as if he had been cutting on a ceramic plate. I even asked him if that was what he did and he said no, he used a cutting board and cut two or three bundles of asparagus bottoms. I mean it was dull AF afterwards. I was very disappointed. I re sharpened it but was really surprised at how crappy it's edge retention was.
I got my one (machine made so perfect balanced and straight) for $13 over here in Thailand. Is more of a compact cleaver that can be used outdoors, slices meat nicely but can hack bones and connective tissue equally due to its decent weight. Great for bbqs and camping where you wouldn't take a chefs knife
I appreciate your honest review and observations of the test copy Promaja. When I came across your video I had already ordered one from Coolina as a 3-knife special. My anticipation of receiving these suddenly sank. I have to say that all three knives arrived in very good condition and do not exhibit any of the warping and fitment issues you describe. For the $216 I paid for three knives I can't say anything bad about them. They are very sharp, the steel is straight and true, and the scales show no gaps or sloppy finishing. On the issue of staining - I own quite a few carbon steel knives (some very expensive) and see no difference in the patina that is developing with the Coolina knives I have compared to others in my collection. I don't want to sound like I am trying to discredit your review, I'm just sharing my experience with the same product. Yes, these are knives that have utilitarian characteristics and not to be compared to the premium brand knives. I did also want to convey the order fulfillment problem I had with my order. Coolina took over 30 days to complete the order, and I didn't get any action from them until I filed an exception with PayPal. The two knives that they had not shipped went out the very next day. In all fairness this was during the holiday season and of course we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Maybe they are only guilty of a lack of customer consideration since they never updated me until I filed a complaint with PayPal.
Hey! I'm so glad that they dont have any of the issues that I experienced. And I don't feel like you are discrediting at all. I am glad other customers are chiming in. As I want to give them an accurate and fair review. I will pin a comment at the top to update to help let others know what other customers are experiencing. This is good news and sorry that it might have dampened your excitement a bit but glad they are able to fix the quality issue. Thanks again for the feedback! 😃🙏
Really hard to find honest reviews on anything. I had this knife in my shopping cart and decided to check out another review of it. Glad I did. Really glad to not support those kind of business practices.
@Bainsworth I'm definitely not in charge. People earn their money and people can spend it wherever they want, even coolina if they so please. I am simply here to do honest reviews and try to help people make informed decisions. As for aliexpress, that wait ain't no joke. I will agree with you there. Especially with the pandemic, its been bad.
I think that I will stick to hand forged Japanese carbon steel knives like Katsushige Anryu's (now retired) knives, Moritaka knives which are not much higher priced at $70+ depending on the knife or knives made by Shigeki Tanaka for example.
I was really lucky when I got into Japanese knives. I picked up an Anryu aogami 2 right before he retired. Really lucked out because once he announced his retirement the old Kanji prices went through the roof! Mine is staying in the collection for sure. I really understand why people say once you go Japanese, you go down a rabbit hole and never look back 😃🙏
Thanks for the honest review...I was looking at the Cooking Guild version of this knife....probably comes out of the same factory....looks like you saved a lot of people some cash...thanks again!

Glad I heard this first part about the company. I saw their link came up first on a web search for this knife and I am trying to by US made quality products. Any company that asks someone to change their review instead of them changing their product needs to rethink their business model.
Honesty builds trust. I ordered a Shindo knife immediately after watching one of your reviews. Which BTW is a much better way to spend $90 than the Serbian knife from Kalina.
As a serb who loves to cook, none of us own or use coolina products. At least in my friend circle. There are tons of other manufactures that make that style blade at great prices that are wonderful to use.
Hey! Thanks so much for chiming in! That is the general consensus I get from Serbians that they don't actually use that kind of knife. Most are proud of what Almazan kitchen did but says that there is nothing Serbian about the knife lol.
Original owners of this knife is AlmazanKitchen and if you want to get them you need t o go on their site. This knifes are just copies because the original owners did not protect the product.
Yup, they sure are the originator. Love their channel. They started pretty much the whole outdoor cooking trend. I have heard they were overcharging on their knives as well.
Is there an all-round chefs knife style you can recommend? I'd love to get something more "unusual" like a Santoku, Nakiri or such a serbian style knife. But I don't want to go for looks as much as for performance on everyday tasks of course.
Thank you for being honest. I knew something was off about them. Anything I see that is a Facebook ad is usually trash. Like choppn knives. They seem like a complete scam.
Yeah, I totally agree! Most of the more reputable knives usually don't spend that much on ad campaigns because part of their advertising is through customer word of mouth.

Thank you so much for the support! 😊🙏

It is and I am adamant about putting my viewers and consumers first. Glad my review is helpful and thank you for watching! 😊🙏
I made a knife like this out of a skill saw blade. It doesn’t hold an edge very well but it’s my favorite knife. Probably because I made it.
Thank you so much for your honest review! I just saved 90$
I really understand why people say once you go Japanese, you go down a rabbit hole and never look back 😃🙏
The question I have to ask is, is there a producer of Serbian chef knives that is well known for making a consistently good quality knife?
Its on sale now for 22$ on Amazon whoever wants to buy it go for it got mine today
Now, that's a good deal! :)
Thanks for the honest review...I was looking at the Cooking Guild version of this knife....probably comes out of the same factory....looks like you saved a lot of people some cash...thanks again!
Honesty & Integrity?! Liked & subscribed. Thanks, my friend.
Thank you so much for your support! 😃🙏
Thank you for being honest. It seriously is appreciated. The mighty mac will remain king in my kitchen :)
You are very welcome and thank you for supporting the channel. Mac's are amazing knives!
Love you dude!! Thanks for your honesty. Much appreciated. Am looking to purchase a knife like that for chopping. May have to do more research.
Thanks for your support! Are you looking to chop through bone and etc or just a knife for chopping meat and veggies?
@@BetweenTwoForks mostly veggies and fingers. kidding about the fingers. found some cheap ones here. www.lazada.com.ph//products/i1831250683-s7792670187.html?spm=a2o4l.cart.0.0.5f8b3e17zNE12p&urlFlag=true
@@BetweenTwoForks i find it interesting that you see street vendors (poor) who use knives every day and they do fine without the expensive fancy knives. how do they do it?
I'm so glad I found your video. Almost ordered from them.
You can buy that same combo for $25 now!! Great deal for that price. Can't wait to get mine!
Now, that is a good deal! 😁
Hold on a sec, wasn't that a Coolina ad I just saw while watching this? Good review though, I just ordered a couple of these...passed on the sheath. Oh well my bad.
So refreshing. Loving the authenticity
Glad I heard this first part about the company. I saw their link came up first on a web search for this knife and I am trying to by US made quality products. Any company that asks someone to change their review instead of them changing their product needs to rethink their business model.
I really wished they would've approached it differently. But it is what it is. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! 😃🙏
Im glad you did this video. I had a feeling and it took time to research but yeah. Integrity is worth far more than money!
100% agree with you that integrity is much more important. Thank you so much for watching! 😃🙏
Totally agree. Overpriced. It is fun to use. Dulls fast. It's alot of maintenance.
Agreed! I don't think their heat treatment is very good.
Honesty builds trust. I ordered a Shindo knife immediately after watching one of your reviews. Which BTW is a much better way to spend $90 than the Serbian knife from Kalina.
Thank you so much for your support! Really appreciate your confidence in my content. Shindo's are really amazing! Great grab!
The whole rusting thing I think is crazy! I would like a knife of this style but I am going with a stainless version.
Appreciate the comments dude 👍👍
Love your honesty dude
Thank you so much for your support!! 😃🙏
Original owners of this knife is
AlmazanKitchen and if you want to get them you need t o go on their site. This knifes are just copies because the original owners did not protect the product.
Yup, they sure are the originator. Love their channel. They started pretty much the whole outdoor cooking trend. I have heard they were overcharging on their knives as well.
@@BetweenTwoForks Yeah the knives are expensive. But i don't know nothing about knives.
@@itsarsa262 I feel like it is a big hype/trend. I wouldn't spend that much unless it is a handmade knife from a reputable maker.
Subscribed simply because you didn’t compromise 🤘
Thank you very much for your support! Can't compromise on honesty :)
Thanks for the review, now i dont feel so bad about not having 100 bucks👍to buy this knife
Got one for Christmas and love it!
Glad you like it!
Man god bless you for not selling out.
Thank you so much and really appreciate you watching and supporting the channel! 😃🙏
Thanks fer th wave-off, Brother! I'll keep me cash in pocket, an I already have way to many knives, anyhow! ;-)
Peace!
You are welcome! I'm glad the video helped you make your decision. But! We can never have too many knives 😁 thanks for supporting the channel! 🙏🙏
Is there an all-round chefs knife style you can recommend? I'd love to get something more "unusual" like a Santoku, Nakiri or such a serbian style knife.
But I don't want to go for looks as much as for performance on everyday tasks of course.
@@TheNuggzt3r hey! I just responded to your other comment. Hope this gives you some good info to start your search 😃
Thank you for your review....i was on the fence with this.....ill look else where.
So glad I was able to help!! 🙂🙏
Thanks for the honest review!
You are very welcome! Thank you for the support! :)
