I'm 5 months late. Idk what version I have of GCam it was the first version that came out for the s21 ultra when it was new. It works with selfies but it doesn't work with the main camera. Night shots are soooo much better on the Gcam. I've captured a pitch black image on the gcam. Although it was a 4 minute exposure
@@twodollarking8009 Whoa! A four minute exposure is wild, but I'm glad it works! I need to revisit GCam on the S22 Ultra, and see what ports are available now.
Hello Sami! Link is in the video description. There are updated ports on that site that may offer improvements at this point in time. BSG has good compatibility generally. The Exynos model will have compatibility issues with many ports (I hope you have a Snapdragon version)!
This is the only gcam vs native test I found for the S22 series, I would like to see more gcam tests with S22 and S22+ also.. I use on my S20 FE and it increases the quality a lot, I imagine how it looks like on S22 series.
From what I've seen in the video, I would use this GCam port for taking pictures when there is sunlight, and stock for indoor/low light/night time, and pictures of close objects.
Hello D! I think that's a good division for the cameras. Also, if you want to use any camera besides the main or selfie camera, I would also stick with the stock app.
Hey community i just bought the s22 ultra and i also noticed that samsung over process some images and another problem I noticed is that it is a little weak in capturing moving subjects can someone from the community tell me how can i capture moving subjects better?
Hi. I'm pretty sure the "focus enhancer" feature switches to the ultra-wide camera to increase the depth of field, which is why you also get things closer in focus.
Hello Yavor! Yes, that's my understanding as well. So far, it hasn't been useful for me, but with autofocus enabled on the ultra wide, I can see why Samsung made this a feature.
Gcam does way better with colors, sharpness, noise reduction. Samsung just does a tone of noise reduction then it over sharpens the shit out of the image and then it boosts the saturation.
Hey Daniel! I do get tired of Samsung's over sharpening. I generally agree-but as far as stock cameras go. I think Samsung might be my favorite (besides GCam from Pixel devices). I am curious to see what the S23 series does next year!
Hello Nikolapeky! I have not seen long exposure or action pan on ports that I have tried yet, but it looks like they could be included in the 8.4 GCam versions. I'll look and if I find one I'll included that port in my next comparison. Thanks for asking! Those will be fun to test!
just upgraded to s22u from pixel3xl as i've read so many issues about the 6pro which discougared me to buy one. Came here to check if gcam works better than the stock as i find the stock cam producing overshapened and too bright images for my taste. But image quality is still superior i believe. Hope samsung can lessen the sharpening in future updates. Overall the phone experience feels solid for me even the cam especially the zoom which i use a lot.
I'm glad you're happy with the S22 Ultra S4njish! The zoom is incredible, even though I don't use it much. And I agree, if Samsung would even provide a toggle in the camera settings so that you could turn off the over sharpening, it would be a better experience. They could even call it "High Detail Mode" . . . or something much more clever.
Well, Gcam always wins, it would just always vary depending on the config that is being used, unless if you used a useless bad config, then you might get a bad photo, unless if you have tuned or use a super professional adjusted config then, boom, Gcan is just the camera king app, it has the widest ratio of adjustments.
Hello Huascar! I would expect the port in the description to work well, but I've had good luck with ports from Arnova, Nikita, and BSG. Some developers say to clear the GCam's cache after installation-i've never seen it help, but there's something you can try with the port you have installed! I'm glad you liked the video and let me know if you're still having trouble. Is it the Exynos version by chance?
Really appreciate the comparison! I'm considering moving from a pixel 6 pro to the S22U but am concerned about photos of my young kids being blurry, especially indoors. Have you taken any pictures of moving subjects indoors and how have they been? Does gcam handle them better than the stock app?
Hello Noah! Glad you liked the video! My wife is the family photographer and she uses an iphone (I stopped trying to convince her to switch). I have taken a few pictures of my dog in motion with the stock camera app and it performed OK, not great. I have not tried with GCam on the S22, but I've been using the regular Pixel 6 and it does seem to do a better job with moving subjects than the S22 Ultra (with my very limited testing). The Ultra is a great device, but in terms of family pictures and home movies, you might be better off with the Pixel 6 Pro. I'll try to include more moving subject samples in my future comparisons--thank you for pointing that out!
