      I'm 5 months late. Idk what version I have of GCam it was the first version that came out for the s21 ultra when it was new. It works with selfies but it doesn't work with the main camera. Night shots are soooo much better on the Gcam. I've captured a pitch black image on the gcam. Although it was a 4 minute exposure

    From what I've seen in the video, I would use this GCam port for taking pictures when there is sunlight, and stock for indoor/low light/night time, and pictures of close objects.

    Hi. I'm pretty sure the "focus enhancer" feature switches to the ultra-wide camera to increase the depth of field, which is why you also get things closer in focus.

    • @phonecomp
      @phonecomp  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Yavor! Yes, that's my understanding as well. So far, it hasn't been useful for me, but with autofocus enabled on the ultra wide, I can see why Samsung made this a feature.

  • @parranoic

    Gcam does way better with colors, sharpness, noise reduction. Samsung just does a tone of noise reduction then it over sharpens the shit out of the image and then it boosts the saturation.

      Hey Daniel! I do get tired of Samsung's over sharpening. I generally agree-but as far as stock cameras go. I think Samsung might be my favorite (besides GCam from Pixel devices). I am curious to see what the S23 series does next year!

    just upgraded to s22u from pixel3xl as i've read so many issues about the 6pro which discougared me to buy one. Came here to check if gcam works better than the stock as i find the stock cam producing overshapened and too bright images for my taste. But image quality is still superior i believe. Hope samsung can lessen the sharpening in future updates. Overall the phone experience feels solid for me even the cam especially the zoom which i use a lot.

    • @phonecomp
      @phonecomp  2 роки тому +2

      I'm glad you're happy with the S22 Ultra S4njish! The zoom is incredible, even though I don't use it much. And I agree, if Samsung would even provide a toggle in the camera settings so that you could turn off the over sharpening, it would be a better experience. They could even call it "High Detail Mode" . . . or something much more clever.

  • @NokiSulinay

    Well, Gcam always wins, it would just always vary depending on the config that is being used, unless if you used a useless bad config, then you might get a bad photo, unless if you have tuned or use a super professional adjusted config then, boom, Gcan is just the camera king app, it has the widest ratio of adjustments.

      Hello Noah! Glad you liked the video! My wife is the family photographer and she uses an iphone (I stopped trying to convince her to switch). I have taken a few pictures of my dog in motion with the stock camera app and it performed OK, not great. I have not tried with GCam on the S22, but I've been using the regular Pixel 6 and it does seem to do a better job with moving subjects than the S22 Ultra (with my very limited testing). The Ultra is a great device, but in terms of family pictures and home movies, you might be better off with the Pixel 6 Pro. I'll try to include more moving subject samples in my future comparisons--thank you for pointing that out!

      Hello Ryan! It depends on the version of GCam you use. Some are more reliable than others, some have XML files that can be installed to configure the GCam port for a specific device, sometimes there's lag in the viewfinder but the camera app is recording/taking the shots you intended. Another time where you will certainly get lag is if you up the frame count for HDR+ mode.

      @@phonecomp AGC and LMC are worth to try. BSG ended on 8.1 and is not compatible with newer phones (it does not utilize things like full shasta support on samsung phones\sensors).
      LMC and AGC allow to make great configs but due to fact that Samsung phones are quite demanding to customize, a lot of testing is required when making a good config. When done the difference against stock is enormous. No any artifacts like on your video occur.

    • @Boberrosini
      @Boberrosini Рік тому

      @@geearf A custom xml uses specified noise models, these must be loaded just after you load xml - otherwise gcam will crash.
      You need to load them for all lenses, in 22u it will 5 of them.
      Use AGC 9.2 fix, as the lens naming issue is resolved in it.
      The basic config needs a lot of tweaks as it is just very basic in terms of its ability to make better photos in all conditions.
      You can try LMC v.15 as it provides also many test values which are working well for 22U like HDR tweaks and better sabre tweaks. That's the task for hours\days\hundreds of test photos though until a proper value for your taste in terms of noise/details ratio is found.
      Samsung stock uses a lot of sharpness and then high denoise to remove artifacts caused by sharpness. By that all details are gone, don't do it in gcam :D

    bsg 8.1 is the best Gcam version, 8.4 is still in development

      That sounds right to me Iran, BSG's 8.4 does seem a bit unstable at the moment.

    Nice to see how Samsung levelled up their level of photo processing compared to GCAM. GCAM used to ALWAYS outdo Samsung.
