    When animated characters make quotes that actually make sense towards the audience, that’s when you know the animation team has had experience facing these challenges in our everyday life and learning about the morals that come with those experiences.

    • @EzraReay
      @EzraReay 2 місяці тому +53

      What I really liked about the campire scene with zuko and the others, they all obviously reflected on their problems and it changed them, EXCEPT Azula, who also reflected and basically said "you know, mother was right, I'm evil. It's not that her saying it didn't hurt, but who cares? She was just a fool." It really showcased what a difference in mentality could do for a person, Azula admitted it and just didn't care, which ended up with her going crazy, but the other three reflected and realized something needed to change, mostly about themselves or how they viewed everything. Again, really interesting and in the long was also a good lesson about life. If something is wrong, about yourself or the world around you, find a way to fix or move past it. Don't let the bad thoughts linger or ignore them, or they will consume you.

    The rick and morty one only feels like half the wisdom
    Happiness always ends, but, it also comes in new things. Maybe you find the love of your life, and you stick with them till one of you is gone. But you lived a happy life with them through the good and the bad, Maybe you never find the love of your life, but you find friends, hobbies, interests.
    A life is only worth living if we find worth in our lives. Not by what other people think is worth living for.

      Nihilists make the mistake on focusing on one aspect of life, their filosofy doesn't have what we all should strive to achieve, balance. They focus on the end but not the beginning, they care more on reflecting way to much on the ugly things of life that they neglect the other aspect of it, the nice things it has, the good side.
      "Nothing matters at the end of the day" they say, the thing is, if it makes you happy, it does matter and that it's what it matters.
      The creators of that show are just a bunch of sad, narcisstic old men angry at life, that's why I dropped the show years ago.

      Your argument isn't a refutation in the slightest. "You lived a happy life, so the pointlessness of it wasn't pointless." To you, sure, but that doesn't mean that character is wrong for pointing out the futility involved in your mindset. The fact remains, you could avoid that pain by not partaking in the behaviors you're saying are good. You think that would be a waste of a life, while I personally think life is wasted regardless of what you do with it. We have two different philosophies and they don't cancel each other out, they're just different.

    • @NottherealLucifer
      @NottherealLucifer Місяць тому

      @@ragemage3049You're making the same mistake you're accusing others of making. Balance is the one aspect you're focusing on, which makes you a hypocrite. Life is pointless, that doesn't mean we can't do as we like, or that we shouldn't do anything, it just means that there's no point to doing those things because they're meaningless. You can do whatever you want, it just won't make any difference whether you choose option A or option B because either way you'll be dead and gone in just a short while.

      Most adults will be either too busy to do these things in life with their jobs and family, or their too old and never got a chance to live the life they wanted due to aging. it just feels different.

      I mean that resonated with me. Minus the need to be afraid of happiness of course. It is more about accepting that you are not going to be always happy. Most of your life is boring or mundane with the occasional highs. If you chase happiness peaks you will ruin yourself. And that is scary!
      But you can be at inner peace indefinitely. No matter how you feel you can learn to be accepting of circumstances outside your control, and sustain an inner form/type of happiness knowing you are making the best decisions according to your knowledge, and things shall come as they are.

      @@eintyp9201 that’s a separate argument from the video, but I would agree it can be scary to think that the great sensation of happiness will be lost. However I think that is a shortsighted view. That doesn’t account for how when one loses happiness they are often ensured it will return. Happiness is not a finite resource. Why be scared of it going when you could look forward to its return? And focus on working to bring it back faster? Those are better attitudes that produce better results. Even if it makes sense to fear the loss of happiness that doesn’t mean it’s the right option

    • @JoshuaM.Waldrep
      @JoshuaM.Waldrep Місяць тому

      @dark6.6E-34 I really like your second paragraph, but the first I disagree with. The way the video in reference was framed was not stating the same thing as you are. It was not saying one should find peace amongst the highs and lows, but instead actively advocating against enjoying happiness. I also disagree that most of life is boring or mundane with occasional highs. Life is mostly what you make of it. If you are experiencing mostly mundane acts and are displeased you have the ability to affect change. You shouldn’t spend your whole life chasing happiness, but seeking out happiness to an extent is an incredible past time, not inherently foolish.

      @@gigachad3872 Precisely. And that's the key message a lot of people miss from scenes like that. The character isn't talking about not wanting to do those things, or not being willing to do them; but rather that he's lonely, has nobody to do those things with, and may find it even lonelier to do them solo. And so he's submitting to the fact that he may never do them.
      It's telling of society that this mindset is becoming so common these days. There's a rising problem of people being unable to find or maintain friendships to the same quality as they were in the past; largely in part due to us being drawn into living an increasingly digital life. *You* might want to go out at 12am and enjoy a campfire with your friends; but those five friends might just want to stay in and play COD online or browse YT 🤷

      Must people get stuck on loving their ex but are blinded by not seeing that you loved the old her.
      You have to see that she is not the same ex you use to love. She might look like her but she’s not the same person you once love.
      To love again is beautiful but not easy bc you have an image of what you thought love was. But you don’t see what love can be.

      When I was a 7 year old I was running around the woods, my old grandfather stepped out of a copse of trees in front of me and said "Are you enjoying being young son?", to which I replied "Yes grandpa". "Good" he said. And then he looked into my eyes. For a brief moment, he was there in his entirety. It felt like all the people he had ever been were looking at me when he said "It will end so fast, and then its gone forever. Treasure it". Before he walked back into the trees.
      I cant truly communicate what it was like. It was his face. His voice. His eyes. It was like someone had stepped out of the normal flow of things. The world goes on and on, everyone moving and shaping things. And then one person steps out of it, a place where they themselves derive no value, turn to you, and say "Run" with everything in their being before being sucked back into the flow. You cant ignore truth handed to you like that. You cant.
      After a while of my subconscious digesting that warning, and that face, I started living life more and more frantically. Consuming every moment I could for everything it was worth. Engineering ways to do that. Racing against a clock I couldnt see. I felt like a boat I couldnt see was leaving, and one day I would find out I missed it if I didnt run for everything I was worth.
      And in the end he was right. I look back, and have the unique experience of knowing I went so hard I wouldn't be willing to do it again twice. That the boat was in fact leaving and I just barely caught it. That that was my maximum effort. And its interesting to look back with nostalgia, but also know if you got to do it again, you wouldnt have the tread left in your soul to push as hard as you did then. And be satisfied.
      Try to do what it takes, for you to be satisfied with yourself. Know you dont know how responsible you are for things, so treat it like you are, and understand you probably arnt completely.

    "Everything has an end." If they applied the same standard to misery as they did to happiness they'd realize that just as happy times will eventually come to an end, so will the sad times. If life sends you on cycles of journeys through good times and bad times, why not just relish in the good times that come, with their sweetness amplified by the sad times before? I think it's rather foolish to say that just because you can't be happy through your whole life it all sucks.

    The “happiness ends so don’t try, and be afraid” bs isn’t wise - Morty was right, it’s moronic to close yourself off from having like 80 good years with the people you care about or want to be with because it will end eventually. You should absolutely love and be happy - positivity and optimism are also essential in survival situations.
    Just because it’s in a different form than hunting and gathering doesn’t mean we aren’t in a survival situation. We are social creatures who need friends and companionship and action otherwise breeds mental illness and cynicism that drives criminality.
