I've always thought John Frusciante was both the best and the worst thing to ever happen to RHCP. On the one hand, he fits in the band like a hand in a glove. AK has said he's easier to write music with than Hillel Slovak was. He vibes with Flea and Chad. He elevated their sound above punk rock. I think without him they never would've gotten famous. Yet most of their music after BSSM isn't that interesting, except By The Way. They went too far in a pop-sounding direction and it's sort of destroyed their legacy. I don't expect them to be making the same music in their 50s as they did in their 20s, but I always wonder what it would've been like if Dave Navarro stayed in the band and they had continued down the hard rock/psychedelic rock sound. I think it would've aged better than Californication or Stadium Arcadium did. Does anyone outside of hard core fans even listen to them anymore?
The river thingwas what destroyed jhon in 92 he was not hsppy and had to wirk and when you a musician you have to be happy to play the way you do orvit reflects that you are elsewhere and that was the reason theres more the others were happy about how everything was going hut to John it was a nightmare
