Why was the school even open when there wasn't any running water?

Exactly. That goes to show you how much Baltimore county school system has changed over the decades. It's bad goddamn decades ago schools in the area would have been closed for stuff like that but I guess now higher administrative people are that dumb and not concerned for the safety of the kids and staff.

Blown out of proportion because the principal made the wrong call. Close for a day.

City folk never had to use a bucket when the water goes out. The principal is showing initiative in keeping the show rolling.

No. If you have to do your business in a bucket at your HOME. What is that a few people? Vs. a school with hundreds of students going in a bucket or not going because they have to squat over a bucket in a school. Who is emptying the bucket? How are they washing their hands? And who decides when you are at emergency level bathroom need? No. You send the kids home for the day. Just like if it is a snowstorm or a hurricane. Just like the man said “if you are camping with your own family” but no, not with hundreds of students & faculty needing the facilities. Ridiculous!

Sounds like a temporary water disruption.
They could close the school at the instant the water pressure was lost, make every parent come in and pick up their kids immediately.
Then make sure that the next scheduled holiday where all the other schools are closed these kids are in school.
There was a temporary situation, the solution was how to handle a temporary situation.
Privacy should always be afforded but there was nothing unreasonable about a temporary problem.

Should’ve been fine to call a code brown. If it’s yellow, let it mellow.

Call in a "Port-O-Potty" for a temporary solution.

How out of touch do you have to be to have kids piss in a bucket in front of each other rather than just send them home? Baltimore, get it together.
