This is just SICK on any level of muscicality. I meant it. Insane, and indescribable the musical genius this is. Those who listen to this. This is the pinnacle of two absolutely insanely good artists combining their talents to give the world a small piece of what God gives to only a few.
they mesh so well... they're both having such a great time... neither one is overpowering the other.... they're both totally digging each other's music...
I think that what I love most about this is just how much *FUN* they are having together. This is truly a case of the whole being more than the /power/ of its parts, let alone the sum.
look at how universal music is.. 2 instruments from 2 different cultures.. sounding amazing together. if the whole world did this there would be no wars or fighting.
I'm a massive fan of both Tommy and Jake, Tommy is an experienced and skilled master of fingerstyle guitar no doubt about it, he's been playing every day since he was 4 years old and he's probably put in many tens of thousands of hours into his craft and probably won't stop until he dies. Being that ukulele is a relatively new instrument being taken seriously and guitars are much more versatile it does seem that he was shown up, but with the restrictions of volume and versatility given by a ukulele, and with less experience Jake has still shown himself to be equally as talented at his own craft, comparing these great men to say one is better isn't right. Together, they are magnificent virtuoso musicians.
Agree with everything, except that the Ukulele is a new instrument. It's a variation of the Lute and has existed since the end of the 18th century. It has been a part of Hawaiian music for several generations, with Jake also playing the Ukulele at the age of 4 years old. At the point this video was recorded Jake had been playing for around 30 years..
I was talking about how it is relatively new to being taken seriously, I know it's been around for a while, but most people thought or still think it's a little or mini guitar. Jake still has less experience haha Tommy is almost 60.
When I toured with Tommy Emmanuel as his guitar tech and FOH , I engineered the opening acts too , and in SanFrancisco for 4 shows , that was Jake. I’d seen a lot of great music by then and I was blown away. Solo on stage, in this cavernous theater (Palace of Fine Arts) incredibly quiet, as Jake did the Ave Maria. Then he joined Tommy and the fireworks…..!
Too much to really express. Tommy Emmanuel is beyond anything I have heard in my 83 years. He is so into whatever he plays no matter what tempo may be live a very long life, and we will enjoy a master of music and guitar playing
This is the best...They bring excellence (to say the least) to the world of music. They make you smile and when its all said and done you are refreshed with quality and excellent music second to none! The only thing to make me smile and bring even more joy to this musical experience is if Feng E could have joined them. This was an amazing performance. Thank you for sharing this video!!!
this was friggin awesome!!! thanks so much for sharing this performance of my favorite acoustic guitar player and a guy who is making people look at the ukulele in a completely different way.
I was here.. I was sitting in the third row center.. What a great performance it was!! But this song totally blew my mind!! (well and 'still can't say goodbye') Thanks for this great upload.. good soundquality aswell
regardless of all comments, it's just great to hear George in whatever manifestation he decides to appear as. Love the guy, love the music and most of you too. Hugs and kisses where appropriate.
+Rikk303 I think George Harrison would be giving a standing ovation in the audience. After all, he's one of the many musicians who said everyone should play the ukulele. www.openculture.com/2014/08/george-harrison-explains-why-everyone-should-play-the-ukulele-with-words-and-music.html
this is a great cross genre collaboration ultimately producing a great performance---- I've followed jake from the pure heart days and its fun to watch his style evolve
At first I thought Tommy was drowning out Jake but after listening again I can appreciate the huge breadth and depth of musicality he brings such as the add9ths and Maj7ths lick in 1:28
Whoa, it's the Tommy Emmanuel of Ukulele and the Jake Shimabukuro of guitar! Amazing!
LMAOOO this deserves wayy more likes

If muscicality wasnt a word it is now lol

I watched this performance 10 years before when I was a colleague student, this phnomenal performance today still shocked me again
OMG..This is the best jam I've ever seen!!!
look at how universal music is.. 2 instruments from 2 different cultures.. sounding amazing together. if the whole world did this there would be no wars or fighting.
Flight of the Concords. "Song for every woman"
Wow!! The best players in their respective musical "tools". Never thought they'd be playing together!!!
How does this not have a billion views already???

Incredible... and the uke only has 4 strings! 4! Jake never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for posting.
That is just one of the best things I've ever watched.
This may be the most badass performance between a guitar and an ukulele in the history of badassery.
I haven't, and never will, get tired of this!
Love how they feed off the energy each put out!.....awesome jam!
Tommy Emmanuel is the epitome of brilliance. He just floors me. And I bet he's a great person, just by the look on his face.

Lord that's awesome! that's what a guitar and Uke duet is supposed to sound like
How do u think I feel watching Emmanuel? That's two ADDITIONAL strings of impossibility I have to aspire to!!!!
I could see all of the efforts they put in their music.
Almost fell off my chair at 3:22 onwards..
Seriously, how many musicians can make you do that these days.. Awesome!
Wow. How did I miss this? I have saying that Jake is the Tommy Emmanuel of the Ukelele. It is so good to see them play together.
