Anna Wintour is responsible for the celebrification of both Vogue and the Met Gala. She was responsible for the big push to have celebrities rather than models on the cover of Vogue and I think that decision has had a lasting effect of less creative and exciting cover shoots and fashion editorials which has spilled over onto the met gala. I think the fact that so many celebrities don’t even follow the theme and there are so many influencers and Kardashians invited has made it feel cheapened and less of a fashion event and just another red carpet.
Anna Wintour is ruining it not the celebs. This event is supposed to be an exclusive event for A listers and the best of the best. Now the Met gala is trying to stay relevant and invites anyone that’s trending at the moment.
Agree. Inviting trending tik tokkers and youtubers that have not done anything IN the fashion industry cheapened it. Inviting the kardashians year after year is ridiculous also.
YES!! Celebrities have indeed ruined The Met Gala. Most are dressed in couture they don't understand or have reverence for. The attendees are there because they are popular for the moment. It shows. It is what it is. (Shoulder shrug)
It should be for fashion professionals, journalists, seamstress etc sponsored by the designers and donors. Celebrate the people that make the fashion industry, not the people who buy its clothes.
Both comments are very fair! In an ideal world we would have a mix of both - celebrities to bring the publicity and income and also the fashion professionals to be able to admire their work!
The event would be greatly improved if it exluded politicians, reality show "stars" and influencers. I don't think they add anything positive to the celebration of art in fashion. ❤
for me, the Kardashian ruined completely the theme and the elegance of this night! Not only them...there's a few name that pop up in my mind , but them are the first!Blake Lively nailed as always the theme and her gorgeous dress and presence is what the MET Gala represent! off course is only my opinion....
Anna Wintour is ruining the Met Gala, the same way she is ruining Vogue for quite some time, she is the definition of a person who cant see she has done her time and keep grasping at anything she can to stay somehow relevant, i mean just see with what she replaced Grace Coddington just to please GenZ...
Its WHO they invited. That ruined it. Social media especially. Tik tokkers ..really? What have they accomplished. Invite the designers . The backbone of the fashion industry. I was disgusted with who was invited. Most didnt even follow the theme. They also need to stop inviting the kardashians.
@@luxecollective will it be sustainable in the long run if this becomes their general direction moving forward? Everything has its saturation point. Sure they get the publicity and donations now but will the donors feel compelled to donate in future years if the event’s equity has been thoroughly diluted?
Without watching this video the answer is: yes. Trash celebs who are not even real stars, reality stars, OF stars and insta “models” are the crap you see there these days
"are celebrities ruining the MET gala?" (Starts the video explaining something mildly related) I don't wanna hate, but honey, this feels like padding, mama. I dont need to know when the camera was invented in a vídeo about your opinions on a movie. If this were an essay, Fine. But the whole thing is well under 20 min. No hate, really. And this IS not the only one vídeo doing this. Just pointing the time-wasting trend.
I don't know what the MET gala used to be. Today, however, is nothing short of a Satanistic ritual, complete with symbology and high priestesses. Is Met short for BathoMET?

Agree 100 percent.
Really enjoyed the historical perspective; always wondered how the Met Gala got started. Thank you; best wishes on your store opening!!!❤
This was really interesting. Thank you for the history lesson behind the event
So glad you enjoyed the video!!
To only raise 17 million when your invitees are collectively worth billions is not an accomplishment for the “most visible charity event in the world”
Anna is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t elevate anyone the as the one and only pinnacle. But hey, money is everything.
Anna Wintour is ruining it not the celebs. This event is supposed to be an exclusive event for A listers and the best of the best. Now the Met gala is trying to stay relevant and invites anyone that’s trending at the moment.
"Anna Wintour is ruining it not the celebs. " yes
I just commented that, Anna Wintour is very desperate and a fraud...
They have definitely gotten more lenient about the guest list - but maybe it's a good thing because it gets everyone talking??
Her absurd strategy more recently is to consciously opt for "representation" over merit.
It's biliously in line with Biden's America! 🤮

Anna's List has been ignored. I always see selfies, and smoking, etc. Hilarious.
I am very proud I can now identity this as a Scouse accent! - an american
It should be for fashion professionals, journalists, seamstress etc sponsored by the designers and donors.
Celebrate the people that make the fashion industry, not the people who buy its clothes.
Yeah but the goal is to raise money for the museum, seamstresses or journalists dont really have deep pockets 😅

Thanks for this fascinating and informative presentation. The perspective provides depth to what many see as mere frivolity.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nobody important anymore would be caught dead going to that hip hop celebration.
Pat Buckley would be turning in her grave.
Mrs Vreeland was an icon and brilliant. Many things we take as read are due to her genius. I wish Anna had her class and taste.
Who would you like to see in Anna's place instead?
@@luxecollective Edward Enninful. Andre Leon Talley would have been the jolt needed. Sarah Harris, British Vogue Fashion Features Editor.
@@luxecollectiveAnyone who doesn't believe their own bullshit.
What they need to do is scout and utilize the met to showcase new faces and forms of beauty.
Celebrities allow The Met to get the publicity it deserves but it would be nice to see a mix of people when it comes to the guestlist for sure!!
Good job, great video, keep going

Finally someone noticed the truth

Who do you think would be better suited if not Anna?
@@luxecollectivemiss piggy
Is it possible to invest and buy limited edition of lady dior in medium size??
Did he just say LISA Minnelli? 5:34 😮
He said Leeza.
Clearly Anna Wintour has no standards for the guests she invites.
It gets them the publicity though 🤷🏻♂️

The moment they began inviting influencers and tik tokers it all went into the drain
And "hip hop types"....
I think it will survive, it's the celebration of fashion as art
Including influencers and certain musicians cheapened the event.
Do you not think that they have brought more publicity though?

Tbh as long as it’s raising as much money as possible for the costume institute I’m not really fussed about what it’s turned into

Is Met short for BathoMET?
Its too American for me, too overrated!
I heard Vogue is 86ed
The guest list is from poverty row with the exception of a very few...
I can’t speak as to whether celebrities should attend the Met gala, but I suppose their attendance brings even more publicity, and therefore income.
100% agreed!
Kim looked beyond gorgeous and even better in the olive green dress at the after party, just perfect with her skin tone...
Kim slays every time
Yes , she slayed when she was a porn actress with her legs wide open. Class personified. 😂
Yes
