    I remember the Dawn Brancheau incident back in Feb of 2010 and everyone's first reaction was Tilikum was this murderous killing machine. Then you take a hard look at the nature of what orcas, and so many other animals have to deal it in zoos and aquarium. Tilikum lived a broken life, frustrated and alone, milked for his seed, never knowing offspring. I hav always said he did what did out of pure loninees

      Not only that but what would they expect from an apex predator who is not stimulated in the way he should be? These creatures are used to swimming free for miles and miles,killing and eating whatever they want. He was frustrated and he wasn't being stimulated the way he should be. He deserved better. He deserved to be free and if he had been left to be free he would most likely still be alive and so would Dawn! SeaWorld robbed them both!

I wish they would would turn the lake adjacent to shamu stadium into a sanctuary where we could just watch them swim around. They don’t need to perform to be amazing. @@SarahLovesTSShe was killed by an orca named Tilikum on February 24, 2010. Dawn was just finishing up a Dine with Shamu performance and was lying down on a slideout next to Tilikum when the orca grabbed Dawn by her arm and pulled her in and dragged her underwater. Dawn was able to escape at one point and attempted to swim up to the surface but Tilikum rammed into her repeatedly and took her in his mouth and then thrashed her around violently and basically mutilated her body. Other trainers tried distracting Tilikum with fish which failed and they tried to get the orca and Dawn separated from each other by using a net but the net got caught in rocks. After 40+ minutes, the other trainers managed to get Tilikum to go to a smaller medical pool where his body could be lifted up out of water and then he released Brancheau's lifeless body.

      I'm not for more animals I'm captivity, but setting them free is the same as killing them. Those born in captivity are not going to live out in the wild. They don't have the learned skills. Those in captivity can lose those skills. No more bred or put into captivity is the real answer.

      They can’t because they need a pod to find and it’s very hard for them as they can die in a few days without knowing to hunt or do anything by their selves as Willy the orca died from being released after the film his name was keiko

    • @barbaramcmillan3835
      @barbaramcmillan3835 10 місяців тому

      @@kennedytfff It would most likely be impossible to reconnect captive orcas with the pods they were taken from, who speak the same language, and no guarantee they would be accepted. They would need to be taught to hunt, since most were immature when captured.
      The majority have been born in captivity, and fed thawed, frozen fish, so would be unable to hunt for themselves or even know what their usual diet would be, and unlikely to speak the same language as any of those in the wild.
      The only realistic option would be for release into vast areas of contained ocean, where they could be fed and monitored until it was judged that they were self-sufficient.
      Unfortunately, SeaWorld show no interest in doing anything to help the Orcas, it's just all too profitable. They will probably make the excuse that the captives have their health monitored and treated by vets, but those in the wild don't need vets. I wonder why ?

    I am from the Chinook tribe and Tilicum is a chinook wawa word meaning people. Ironic to me because people were so cruel to this Orca. When the Lummi tribe brought a totem carving of an Orca to be blessed I thought about Tilikum.

    I will never pay for these cruel exhibits, yet people still go year after year and don't feel anything when they look in the eyes of the animals that are suffering day after day for their entire life so we can be "entertained" for a couple of hours, moments even us sick

    They need to free all the orca!! Could you imagine being forced to live your whole life in a 10x10 room? Then they shouldn’t be forced to live a tank they can’t take a real dive in!!!!

    This made me laugh, the first clip isn’t Tili, it’s Ikaika I believe, and the second video is Ulises, fun fact they are at a completely different park, then Tilikum lived.
    Yes, it is sad that he passed away, but all you anti-captivity people are looking at things a completely different way to how things go. For Lolita and Kshamenk, I can understand, but not Tilikum

      Please understand that everybody has its own home, own world... By just giving them a small place to live and just feeding one or two fish doesn't mean that they love them or care for them... If a whale passes away then they will just mourn for a few minutes and after that they will be back to their own state... That's the nature of most of the humans... For those who really love them, can understand their pain and can feel it and they can go to any extent in order to give them a happy life...
