Please do tell us what parts of the Koran you reject.... This is like listening to a Catholic from the 1250's onward disavowing responsibility for the Church's practices by asserting that they do not support the Inquisition - therefore believing that the larger body of Catholicism has been absolved and rendering concern over the Church and the practical manifestation of the religion moot.
Similarly my grandparents fled Nazi Germany, but when they arrived in the US they did Not identify themselves as Nazis in name or practice - not did they claim to be 'reformed' Nazis whose only desire was to assimilate.
Please tell us about this new edition of the Koran that provides instruction for cooperation and coexistence and has the fundamental tenants of submit or die redacted that renders those who possess a concern regarding the intolerant conquest ideology known as Islam that is fundamentally at odds with the US Constitution, unreasonable or misguided.
Until then, it is this apologist's account that constitutes a deviation from Islam...

If you were kind, broadminded and wise you wouldnt be commenting this. Did you know all these things......
The Region with the Muslim Majority
The majority of muslims live in SE Asia, not even the Middle East and northern Africa put together. Google this. Indonesia (being the most populated Muslim Country in the world) with 280 million people and 87% are Muslims. Indonesia doesnt have honor killings nor does SE Asia. Stop looking at the middle east as "Islam" because the real "Islam" is in SE Asia.
      Violence in Islam
Indonesia is the 5th country in the world that has the least amount of murders. Whereas the U.S. is the 1st western country with the most murders in the world after a few countries in the middle east, a few countries in Africa and South America and Mexico. Source "Murder rate by countries 2018". (The only one that has rankings by country). Murders went up 2 people per 100,000 in the U.S. since 2018. To 17 per 100,000 in 2020. Today there are more. While Indonesia is still 0.3 or 0.5 per 100,000. No one even abuses their kids here. No one here really understands how parents could ever do that. Children Protective Services don't really have jobs. Very rare cases. The U.S. has 63% Christians, but Christianitians are declining in western countries in mass numbers.
      Broadmindedness for all Religions
Indonesia celebrate Christmas as a day off, Chinese New Year, Hindu Holidays and Buddist holidays. The largest, most beautiful Buddism Temple in the world called Borobudur is in Indonesia. There is also a huge Hindu Temple and Bali is a Hindu Island in Indonesia. Indonesia's gov't acknowledges 6 religions.
      Suppression of Women and LGBT
Indonesia has had a Muslim woman President before and the state owned Oil Company's President is a covered Muslim woman. We have had many female Ministers in our Gov't including about 1/3 currently in office.
We have more gays here than I saw in the U.S. growing up there. They are all alive, thriving and working and living their lives. They just have to get married somewhere else.
Honor killings and suppression of women is unfortunately a culture in the middle east ONLY. Not representing Islam itself. Have you heard Saudi is completely different now? Women do not have to cover themselves and are allowed to wear bikini in private beaches.
The people in the Middle East all know this thw suppression of women is ONLY a culture and the complete opposite of what Islam is. I've seen a documentary and middle easterns acknowledge this.
Prophet Mohammad had his wives to be his advisors and women were able to vote back then 1,442 years ago even before they have elections that we have now. In Islam it states that Muslim women who works can keep their money for themselves. Also the husband's money is hers too. She can help with expanses only if she wants to.
Indonesia doesn't do any harm to the LGBT community. They are working and living here just like everyone of us. There are no laws specifically for them.
      Polygamy
Before Islam, having many wives is a regular thing back then. King Soloman had 700 wives. Moses, Abraham had many wives too. I looked up the origin of this. It said Hindu first started it. When I looked again and again it says Church of Latte Day saints....Mormon were. Go google "the origin of polygamy". It is not Islam who started.
What does the Bible say is the solution for the world when there are more men than women? Think about it, religions are really old, but even in the 1950s, everyone had to marry. What happens when women are still single because there are no more men left because they are all married already? What should happen to them? Please go find the answer for me in the Bible and let me know.
Muslims are mere people, therefore we don't ever change the words of God. Not like the Bible where persons like the Pope change to his own liking and no longer allows polygamy.
Islam is the only religion that has a solution to that problem. No other religion has. The Quran is not just a religious scripture but a way of life. There are answers to every aspect of life and guidelines about how to go through it.
