That topcoat is seriously the bomb. Bought it because you recommended it and I'm on my second bottle now. It is amazing and doesn't get goopy and thick like others.
OMG THANK YOU FOR THESE NAIL VIDEOS!!! I have been doing my nails wrong for my ENTIRE LIFE! I did not go to cosmetology school, so I never learned these things. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
I just tried holding the applicator like you do and OMG!! I have way more control it's genius and honestly I don't know why I haven't done this before, thank you.
Wow. You explained everything so beautifully and clearly. I am a nail art junkie. I had brittle nails then 1 product worked like magic for my nails- Etude house "Help my finger" base coat+nail strengthner. You must try and you will never look back. Affordable alternative to Opi nail envy. Just USD 6. Also suggest using garlic oil once or twice a week.
Good morning to my favorite panda. Just wanted to second your use of wet n'wild polishes. I can remember how I used to be such a nail snob until I bought a set of their polishes for my granddaughter. I have loved them ever since. Almost all of my polishes are wet n'wild, JulieG, and independent lines. Love to you and Tater!
You described Glisten & Glo, HK Girl perfectly......Magic in a bottle, it is life changing! Your hand's are so pretty....is that weird to say? You have the perfect long nail bed's and long fingers. I'm so jelly! My hands look like they have been through a war zone, tons of IV's will do that. I hold my brush the same way. My mom taught me how to paint my nails when I was pretty young and we're both lefties. Because I'm a lefty if I hold the brush differently I make a hot mess, I have tried. It also took me a long time to not make a mess. With painting your nails practice really does make perfect. Hope you have a fabulous week, Dani!
What really catches my eye for the 1st time in your channel is your nail polish! It is awesome and neat! As if you went to the salon and did your nails!
I just watched your video on Sally Hansen website. I wanted to learn how to apply the gel polish. You gave me the perfect way to hold my brush. We are never too old to learn! I’m 68 my hands are a little shaky and your tip helped so much! Thank you!!
i love Wet n Wild polishes. I just bought Black Creme, French White Creme. Burgandy Frost (kind of a coppery red), Metallica(silver) and Ready to Propose (gold). I can't wait to try them!
Seriously dani, I always would get frustrated with bottom and top coats so I quit even trying them. I bought those two after your other video and my life has seriously changed. I can't believe my nails. I now change the polish because I'm bored of the color, not because they look bad!
omg! finally! thank you so much Dani! I was waiting for these videos since I just started my polish addiction. Im at the point where I go to the drugstore and it doesn't matter what I buy I always bring home a nail polish along with it...am I alone!?!?!? lol!
Thank you so much for this video! I can't do my nails because where I work we can't have painted nails but I do my moms nails a lot and I've always been looking for tips and ways for it to stay on longer. Thanks again, Dani!
I use a very similar technique for applying my polish, but when you first described how you hold the brush, I thought it sounded weird ... but then I was just painting my nails and realized that's exactly how I hold my brush too!!! ; )
I'm totally gonna get that he top coat! Thanks for recommending it! 😊 your nails look amazing! Oh and btw I may be a fairly new panda but you are now my all time favorite youtuber! Your videos make me so happy! You are so full of joy and I love that. The longer the videos the better haha I feel like we are friends just talking to each other and it's awesome! Love ya! 😄
Hey Dani! I just wanna say thanks for sharing your secret! I have a 6 month old baby & I'm a stay at home mom. I either never have time to paint my nails or they just always ended up chipping from waiting for them to dry or from all the house work that I do, so I had just stopped painting them completely :( Until I bought the base coat and clear coat you recommend. You saved my life girly!!! The top coat dries up so fast so I don't have to worry about messing them up. The nail polish stays on for weeks if I wanted! All I have to do is do a quick touch up and a swap of the clear coat and I'm done! :) Sorry for the novel, but thanks!!! -Nicole
Haha you are so funny! I laughed every time you described the top coat and how amazing it is. Likes that you didn't edit out the drama with the thing trying to ruin your too coat, lol
I love that top coat too I have the base as well but I don't think it's good because my nails still chip AND I always do the tip. My nail polish never lasts more than a day or two drives me nuts. My HK Girl Top Coat actually did get goopy I'm going to put it in some warm water and see if that helps. I'm also going to try your base coat you use. Love your videos!
My nails have been super soft and thin and have split and peeled all my life until I started using Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus. I use it twice a week as a base coat. After a month or two as your nails grow out, they'll be strong and hard and NO peeling. It changed my (mani) life. I just started using HK Girl and so far I'm super impressed. Thanks Dani!
I am so happy you made this video I have been painting my nails wrong for at least 30 years now lol. This video was very helpful I never start in the middle that explains why I have to do so much clean up and I have exactly the same nails as you they grow fast but are flakey and thin I mentioned your name in my lip monthly subscription I hope you don't mind if I put your link down below as well live your video.
So is there anything you dont know how to do well?! I tried the shaping and using the flat toe nail clipper well thats genius. As for the painting I just painted my nails using your tips including the way you hold the brush and my nails look perfect and the polish didnt streak as badly as when I usually do my nails. Great video!!
Try the sally Hanson insta-dri nail polish one coat and it is PERFECT!!!! U don't even want to touch the perfectness. it also has a really good brush which makes painting so much easier
I polish my nails the exact same way...my pointer finger is always on top of the cap. I didn't think it was Eire until I watched a few videos today any they held the cap different. We all have our own way :-) gorgeous color too!
I found HK Girl about a year ago and haven't looked back either. I have a drawer full of other fast dry top coats that are just sitting there neglected, I almost feel bad for them lol!! I haven't tried the Formula X base coat because my nearest Sephora is over three hours away. I find Orly Bonder to be a really good, long lasting, sticky base coat though :)
I absolutely LOVE you Dani! Love from Australia xo That's exactly how I do my nails from start to finish :) I'll have to invest in your recommended base and top coat nail polishes. :)
Dani, your nails always look so good! I do mine in much the same way but never do the tips. I'm going to now! My nails peel like yours too! I've been using the Naitiques formula 2plus. It's expensive too but it has really helped my nails from peeling! Definitely going to order the basecoat from Sephora! Big Hugs!!!!!!! Deb
I have always used Nail Envy as my base coat, and my nail tips chip pretty quickly. I just looked at the bottle, and no where does it say base coat. Duh, I feel foolish! I did not realize that Nail Envy and Nailtiques Formula 2 were similar products. I will check out some base coats right away. I have heard thin coats are best to prevent chipping, too, and I struggle to make thin coats. However, you gave me some ideas on how to improve my application technique. Also, I am ready for my life to change with the HK Girl Top Coat, but I really do not like paying shipping for such a small item. Do you have any suggestions for other good Glisten & Glow products? Thank you, Dani! Loved this video, and I learned a lot!
Hi Dani .. I love your nails and your colours selection .. I'm wondering where can I find the top coat u've mentioned cause the link wasn't working for me ?.. my sister lives in Dallas , LY
I never thought of the 'nail polish remover pad travel-lite' whenever I fly. lol I didnt know it exists haha.. Will get those soon. :) Great vid & info!!
Hi! I'm a new subscriber to all your gorgeousness lol! Quick question, do you still use the same base coat and top coat. I am looking for some really great ones because just like you, I love doing my own nails! Any advice would be great, thanks so much!
I bought the HK girl topcoat per your advice and OMG, it's now my HG. Dries amazingly fast and is so glossy! Absolutely worth buying online and paying for shipping. So glad I bought two! Thanks for the recommendation Dani :)!
yes hk girl top coat is so great. i do nail stamping videos and this h.k girl top coat is slowly putting my sech.e vite on the shelf first it was my days later topper now its my pirmary one.
Hey Dani, your vids are always my fave! :) How does the HK Topcoat compare in thickness to Seche Vite in terms of smoothing out nail art? I hate using a top coat that makes my nails look shiny, but still lumpy from doing nail designs. I recently tried Butter London's Hardwear, which is super shiny with no shrinkage, but is just a little too thin. :-/
I wouldn't say the best. Although it is very well known and loved, HK Girl is better. I know Seche Vite is very shiny, but so is HK. Also HK Girl lasts SO long and the whole bottle lasts unlike Seche Vite that becomes pretty much unusable after you use the first half of it. Some people even claim that Seche Vite shrinks!
I was a seche vite girl too ... I changed to h.k girl and don't even miss seche vite at all. I just bought my third bottle and decided to get the big 2ml bottle bc I'm that addicted to it!
HK Girl blows Seche Vite way out of the park. You'll never have to buy a thinner and will actually be able to finish the bottle without it getting goopy and thick. The owner and company is absolutely amazing. Customer service is impeccable!! Highly highly recommend! I mean it actually ends up being cheaper than Seche Vite, not including the Seche Vite thinner a lot of people end up having to buy. The Formula X Base Coat that Dani mentioned and uses is amazing as well. :) The all star is the top coat though, I honestly won't paint my nails if I don't have the HK Girl Top Coat with me. Not only for the incredible formula, but it dries SO SOOO fast!! :) Your nails are dry to the touch in less that sixty seconds and add rock hard-solid dry and you can go back to what you were doing in less than three minutes. :)
Good morning Dani :) every single thing you said about hkgirltopcoat is dead on true! I've never used the formula X base coat but I use Glisten & glow's base coat called Stuck on blu...a must have for me!
Thank you so much for this video! Sometimes you kind of have to go back to the basics, haha. I never get the edge of my nails and they chip quickly, and my coats are always so thick. Every time I do my nails I'm like "ughhh crap I can't believe I made this same mistake again". I'm gonna have to refer back here for help next time! :)
I bought that top coat after you recommended it a long time ago. And after awhile it did get goopy. I love it but it do get goopy after I had it a month
Have you ever tried Seche Vite top coat? It's AMAZING!! Sounds like it's just like the HK one that you have! I got it after a recommendation and it's def my holy grail! Can't do my nails without it! Dries so quickly and actually fixes any mistakes by smoothing my nails! Also, it leaves such a shiny finish that it looks like I got my nails done at a professional salon! I wanna try the HK girl top coat one day, but Seche Vite is easier to find in stores haha
girl, switch to h.k girl. the seche vite gets goopy quick and shrinks your polish. I used to swear by it until h.k girl came into my life. I bought 2 bottles 6 months ago and still have one full bottle left it doesn't shrink and if it does get a bit goopy you can add polish thinner (even the site says it) which with seche you can only use seche restore. buuuyyy it!
I tried it, and I'm shocked with the result! I used Formula X as base coat although I didn't use the G&G top coat (I couldn't find it but internet sales). I used instead Orly EPIX which worked great. Wish I had your nail beds!!!!
Just got 2 Glisten and Glow topcoats in the mail today. I knew I'd love it so I ordered two. And guess what? I LOVE IT. Thank you, Dani!

I was taking off my nail polish to redo them, and then I refreshed my youtube page, and BAM you uploaded this. lol

I am beyond happy to see this video!!! Yayyy!!! I have been waiting for you to do a nail painting tutorial!!!
Love the shape of your nails Dani! Sooo pretty :)
I love that top coat! Is is a life changer! lol 😂 I have to try that formula x base coat though. Great mani Monday vid! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks again, Dani!
Life changing!! I just did my nails this way and had very little almost no clean up! Before I was a hot mess lol thank u Dani! Xoxo from NJ
that top coat is amazing!!! favorite one!!! and i have tried a ton of top coats! i got the base coat as well and loving them both.
The video we've all been waiting for!!! :) Thanx Dani ;)
Thanks so much for this video. I always admire your nails. You're so good at explaining things, I learned so much! Thanks xx

Me too and it pulled away from the nail polish as well
add nail polish thinner there's a good one at sallys. the site even recommends you do when it gets goopy not warm water.

DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE UA-camR
I absolutely LOVE you Dani!

Also, you have so much nail polish, have you ever tried Floss Gloss? It's an indie brand, I'd be really curious to know what you think of it.

Beautiful! What's the name of the color???? Gorgeous hands too!

Lol!! My 6 year old loves doing her nails, so when she saw me watching this she yelled " OH!!! I WANT TO WATCH THAT NAIL PROJECT!!!"
Dani have u tried seche vite top coat??? That's my holy grail!!!!
Good morning Dani :) every single thing you said about hkgirltopcoat is dead on true! I've never used the formula X base coat but I use Glisten & glow's base coat called Stuck on blu...a must have for me!
Good morning.!!
Live all your tutorials.,!

I love it but it do get goopy after I had it a month
i miss your daily videos!!!
Is that top coat sold in stores or only online in the link you shared? I definitely need it in my life! :)
perfect nails defenetly worked thanks
I bought 2 bottles 6 months ago and still have one full bottle left it doesn't shrink and if it does get a bit goopy you can add polish thinner (even the site says it) which with seche you can only use seche restore. buuuyyy it!
What is the name of the blue color you used? Also, orly bonder is my favorite sticky base coat. Give it a try!
I was looking to-- I think it's called Putting on Airs
I tried it, and I'm shocked with the result!
I used Formula X as base coat although I didn't use the G&G top coat (I couldn't find it but internet sales). I used instead Orly EPIX which worked great.
I am still in the search of G&G top, since it can't be shipped to Mx (where I live) for customs regulation :( so sad...
Beautiful nails
