In this video, I share my story about how I got rich in Crypto and lost it all during the Bitcoin Crash back in 2017 similar to the bitcoin crash 2021 today. I had invested over $40,000 into 6 or so Bitcoin which would have been worth over $300,000 today. However, after the 2017 crash, I sold my shares to prevent myself from, at the time losing a lot of money!
I learned some great lessons about investing in crypto and stocks in general about managing risk and ensuring that your portfolio isn't either too risky or exposes you to put too many eggs into one basket. Back in 2017, I bought during the hype of Bitcoin and put over $40,000 into BTC and ended up panicking during the Bitcoin crash and selling off before losing too much money. This is my story about how it happened.

I bought BTC and another coins in the last bear market.
Had a Full BTC, but I saw this mm crypto and Mo and all this guys how the work with bybit, I try it a lot of, now I know leverage trading is very very dangerous.
I sold my AXS @ 4 Dollar... If I don't try this bybit, and if I don't sold my AXS, I have now over 1 Million Dollar...
But that is life, and I learn from my mistake.
I only hold my Coins, don't trade it and I don't sell it to early.

Absolutely amazing video, I have finally realised that as a beginner in the financial investment market, you can achieve close to nothing yourself because you still have a lot to learn. Trading with a professional broker is more profitable and my advice for beginners is to always take advantage of that.
Instead of timing the market, you should try to diversify your portfolio in order to get a dollar-cost average when it’s time to retire. Keep in mind that you don't need a ton of money to invest. Investing in small amounts can build long-term wealth too!

Definitely! I could have held out and had a tonne of money but on the other hand, I have a flat to show for it now so nothing lost 😀

amazing video. I just went through this with Doge. I bought at .5 cents a few months ago and when it went up to .26 in two days and then eventually .70 cents I thought I was on my way. I sold my principle but was determined to hold. Then all those "gains" were wiped out. I still feel like I "lost." I learned one key thing, the stock market is part gambling and a giant game of chicken. I can't take any stock seriously that fluates so radically on the tweet of one person.

Respect to you for your honesty, it's easy to gloat when the going is good. Takes a much humble person to admit their mistakes. I saw so many people back in 2017 talking about Bitcoin every day about the new form of passive income and how the wealth would set them up for life - funnily enough they went quiet after the crash!
Recovery from the bitcoin crash is very possible and all thanks to Jessica lee aquiler for helping me to survive the huge market crash.

Phew, I appreciate the honesty. I bought btc @ 8k, sold at loss when it dumped. Also kept swing trading but the recent 2021 dump also made losses. I invested too much of my money so kept having to pull out even when negative. Also when I cashed out I was happy coz I also bought a house (not in uk), so no regrets to this day
Sounds like despite the losses at least you learned from it and the cash is now invested in stonger assets!
Pulling out when investment goes negative is the dumbest thing you can do. It shows that you expect to invest and gain instant profits. Investments go up and down but the right ones over time always trend upwards.
Tough times mannn, we’ve seen this volatility with BTC over the years though, so its all good
Thankfully this time round I have way less exposure in crypto so this crash has passed me by without much of a whisp!
i had 400 thousand units of ADA last year averaging at 4 cents but got scared about septembers sell off so i sold off with x4 profits, only to find out that i missed almost 900 thousand dollars, so this upcoming crash is more than welcome so i can try again without screwing all up! I witnessed the 2017 too and screw that one up holding 20k units of XRP from 27cnts to all the way up and back down to 50cnts

The problem was not having all your eggs in one basket , it's more about not taking profits when you were in the green.
I’m going through the same exact thing right now with the same exact amount of money invested and profit lost.
It's a valuable lesson the future. That being said, I do have no doubt Bitcoin will recover but it might take another 2 years, who knows! So hopefully you don't need the cash for a house purchase for example anytime soon!

@@MattBrighton fortunately not , however it was the thought of possibly having my money sit for an extended amount of time and not being able to invest in more crypto during a dip.
Luckily this time it was short lived and I can work on my strategy and take profits accordingly.

It´s always best to buy an asset because you have in conviction in it and not just for the price action. I was in your same position with a large amount of money in late 2017 for it to crash soon after. Because I had a strong belief in my investments, I held on and it has paid off handsomely. I wish the best and that you have stronger conviction in your future investments.

if u are checking ur account daily it means u have too much invested. Invest an amount you don't care so much about. I have done that before too where I'm checking every hour every day. Not good. If you are that emotionally invested in it you have invested too much imo.

Matt, I love your story, thank you for sharing it. I lost money investing with someone like Madoff in South America, some people committed suicide, and others lost their mains. It was very hard, but I am grateful that God gave me the strength. I am glad you were able to buy your flat.
No mate, the lesson is dollar cost average during the crash. That is if you ever truly believe in the investment. Which by the sound of it, you didn't so it's best that you did sell. Best of luck to you.

Yep - I'm far less leveraged though these days. I have a few hundred £'s in which I'll move into a few thousands in the future but enjoying dollar cost averaging at the moment over the long term, however most of my money is in stocks and moving that into property shortly.

@@robsaxepga Absolutely fine, as long as you don't put too much in, the famous is saying only invest what you're willing to lose, so with that mindset, if you make great gains - awesome, if you lost it... no hard feelings.

I can't remember ever hearing from anyone who lost the money they had in the bank except 1929 stories. I have less than $3k in the bank r n but, today I went shopping, I used some of that money and I could've closed that account and taken my money home if I wanted. Your money was in a " "could" ", you never had anything.

The best way to make money in crypto is to own an exchange (i.e. better to own the casino than to be one of the gamblers).

All I do is save money, but I do buy food, but not too much, and I'm not really addictive to anything. The only thing I can think of buying is crypto. That's it. I just get high on life for free.

I feel like it’s that normal learning curve for everyone. I’ve also lost $100,000 trading Bitcoin last year, but so far now I’ve been able to make double of that trading weekly.

Man, Matt had a good job making good money and discovered BTC when it was around $4k, bought in, saw his portfolio grow, then tank, and managed to get out with minimal losses and is doing fine.
I had a good job making good money and discovered BTC when it was $50. I wanted to buy in, but let the opinions of those around me affect my decision and didn't. I ended up buying in right around $20k, when it was at its peak, and sold around $4k, its subsequent bottom. I then proceeded to buy and sell at the worst possible times, losing not only massive opportunities, but also massive amounts of money. I'm the only person I know who discovered crypto as early as I did...who somehow LOST money.
I also lost my job along the way and now spend my days unable to break away from looping the fact that if I hadn't made the worst possible moves at every opportunity, I'd be a millionaire. And if I'd made good or even decent moves, I'd be a multi-millionaire. Instead, somehow I'm completely broke and have nothing. I'm the living embodiment of making every wrong decision at every turn.

Biggest mistake you can make is too sell when it’s falling. When it’s falling in price buy more and HOLD!!

my wife worked for a startup and she was paid their coin as part of her bonus, we sold them for 2k and after a year and an half they were worth around 120k. Fun fact we didn't needed those 2k as we gain really well from our jobs :D

@@MattBrightonIndeed. I did the same. Invested 80% of my life savings and the market tanked the following week ( worst timing ) and I sold when I was breaking even. I couldn't stomach volatiality. The moment I sold Tesla announced BTC adaptation and my investment would be worth a lot more if I hadn't sold. Crypto is a funny space. The only thing I regret is investing all my life savings. If I started with a smaller amount these swings would be easier to stomach. This sticks with you. I think both of us learnt our lesson and right now I only DCA and invest smaller amounts.

Honestly, he's an amazing person. He uses his time, moves and basically his life into helping people who are less fortunate. Using an excellent money recovery model as well in making profits, he really is still doing it out of his own heart. You had your eggs in the best performing asset of our generation that was your best move the mistake is not selling at all time highs and being too greedy. Get your capital out which relieves stress & gives you emotional stability at least. The biggest mistake in Crypto is not selling at all time highs DCA out & leave a moon bag. I realize this is old but to those reading have an exit plan! When you have life changing money in front of you CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
The hatdest thing to do is cash out my story is good i cashed out turned 7 grand into 24 grand

Investing in Bitcoin is highly profitable. And I think that's the best idea anyone can make.
Sure it's wise to invest in btc rn than it was years ago. But I'm also thinking of another source of income tho

My crypto portfolio was worth around 1.4 million earlier this year! Never sold and watched it go to around 600k in the crash! Now the markets gone up again it’s worth 1.04 million !! Talk about a roller coaster 😂🤣
