I've just done one side and what a chore on a gravel driveway. Tried to be clever and do them with the hub on. Bad move. In the end removed hub and i clamped one side because they kept moving and put a zip tie around the caliper to stop the pins coming out. Got there in the end. 😂
Recently did the rear shoes on my 2013 3 and I made the same comments! Only changed them because the lining came off the metal shoe! 47k miles from new. I don't remove the rear hub either which I see would have made it easier!
@@pistonbroke I will next time! Had my 3 from new in 2013,it has full dealer service as well as myself doing the odd bit's like brakes, plugs ect to keep the cost down. Fuel pump failed the other week!
Hello!!! My name is Gilio, and I from Chile. I have an MG3 2013. A question: what kind of Grase you use on the rear brake’s. I see a blue color that are you using. Thank you and a like so much you videos.
Hello again and thank you very much for you replay. It was very useful. I have another question: in the panel to control the water temperature and the air flow direction, the knobs are very hard to move. I try to lubricate the control cables and control arm but nathing hapen. Do you know any other solution?? Thank you again and best regards.
Cheers, looks like a well designed system for servicing, thanks 🙂 NZ
I was just going to ask that question about the grease, thanks for that mate, love the video, cheers👍
Seeing people plaster pads in copper slip is one of my pet hates, the other is when people put it on wheel bolts and studs. Cheers for watching.
Can you tell me the rotor retainer screw is it a T50 cheers.

I've tried with the hub on. It can be done but the swear box gets filled quicker.
Nice simple set up, that looks a clone of a mk2 golf.
What's the torque setting for the rear hub nut? I have rear shoes to replace but didn't think to take rear hub nut off
320-350nm
@@pistonbroke Thank you

I've tried to do it with the hub on, it's fiddly. For the sake of one nut it makes life so much easier. Cheers for watching.

Hi Gilio, it's brake grease, designed for high temperatures. I don't know why it's blue but it can come in different colours.

Would you happen to know what to torque the rear hub nut up to? Thanks.

@pistonbroke Thanks for getting back to me. There not going to fall off being that tight!
Didn’t see any info on cleaning the calliper or bridge with brake cleaner b4 replacing, which I’m sure you would have done, but didn’t show it?
Just didn't show it. Wire brush the carriers before fitting.
Happy new year... I shall be traveling to the uk, is it possible for you to service my RRS?
Yes that shouldn't be a problem.
How do you change the v belt on mg3
What size of hex key to take off caliper ?
7mm
@@pistonbroke cheers 👍 thought I had a 7mm , need to look again , 2018 car , and for that star bit holding disk
@@David-jo9gx torx bit for the disc is either T45 or T50. Can't remember off hand.
@@pistonbroke thanks 👍, likely need to buy more tools 😀
