I went to the Met on Friday and discovered her work. I was absolutely mesmerised. Hangover Square might be my new favourite painting ever. She's so wonderful. I love listening to her talk about her art.
Went to see the paintings today -- I was Wowed, I love that she just honestly talks about all her inspirations -- fascinating---- I have never seen painting that creates this music soundtrack in my mind as look at it.. I heard a symphony .... so much going on , chaotic - yet so beautiful!!
Exceptional drawing skills. Copying a Hieronymus B is quit challenging, so is Pollock. Depictions of women looking at a mirror are fabulous. Your exhibition at The Met is one of the best this Spring. To review all about it for my studies. Love it!
I saw your work in Madrid many years ago. It was a real scale walk through a Forrest ❤️🔥 and some passionate encounters. You made us look like stalkers. 😂 I’m a big fan. 🙏💎
OMG shes so ENGLISH - - i mean i knew she is peter syleveters daughter -(and im english too) but Penelope Wilton could play her - with out changing a thing 🙂
Artist Interview-Cecily Brown: Death and the Maid | Met Exhibitions wondering upon wonder - re: it not being looked upon favourably to comment upon the oeuvre of women. whether that be due to women taking umbrage at men, piddling men, taking note or men surmising oh, no no no... that's a no-go area. which it may be... is it any good? dunno...
No. All she does is acting, imitation. It is bombast. What she says is recycling of her father's talk with Francis Bacon. The only critic who has seen through the charade is Adrian Searle in the Guardian.
There is more of blah blah than art itself here. I don't see any effort or consideration on her paintings. I could say "not my style" or "I don't understand art" but I prefer this: "The close studies of painters are touching because we recognise in them a degree of care from which we have been exiled in the ordinary run of life" from the School of Life
Isn’t everything referential in some sort of a way, nothing just comes out of the blue, something is always subconsciously referred to, but I still get your point , she literally says that she copies from those works, yet there is so much of her in the painting which is actually a new language, her language

Absolutely love Cecily Brown. Possibly my favourite loving artist.
I could listen to her discuss art all day.
Hopefully I’ll get to meet her one day.

Welcome to Golgumbaz
Comfortable view of her work
真好
I miss the days when she would get blind drunk, take all her clothes off then start live streaming on Instagram
Why is deconstructing known imagery considered art? Especially if it's done in such a personalized way.
it s true there is no progress in art
Can she paint without copying?
No. All she does is acting, imitation. It is bombast. What she says is recycling of her father's talk with Francis Bacon. The only critic who has seen through the charade is Adrian Searle in the Guardian.
Doesn't work for me.
Meaning
@@Moodboard39 That it does not work for me!
@@Moodboard39 I don't like it.
@@408Magenta u mean u dont liker her art ?
@@Moodboard39 Gee, I thought I made that clear.
she will be remembered like Georges Mathieu 🤮

Well said Ana, from what I have seen of her work It reminds of the tale; The Emperor's New Clothes
I can’t understand your drawings
Love her, but why does art always have to be referential. Cant we break away and create new language
