I dont know about Army, but if you practice, its really not too difficult to get in. I am in the Navy and you actually enlist in a performing arts boot camp division, then they weed out from there.... All you have to do is be better than the person next to you, and not alot of soldiers/sailors are really musicians. Alot of rappers, guitar players, DJ's, drummers... but not alot of regular band geeks:)
Does anyone here know where Jerome is now & or how to contact him? We were in the 7th Fleet band together back in the day. Hit me up if anyone knows. Respect.
This is NOT true at all. Before joining the Navy you have to audition for the Navy Music Program. IF you are selected then you go to boot camp, and just because you are a musician doesn't mean you go into a 900 division (band, choir). There are plenty of Navy Musicians that were in regular divisions. Then you go to the Navy School of Music in Virginia for 6 months for Theory training. Only after you pass the school do you go out to the fleet as a Navy Musician.
Of course it is!
great improvisation, his high blowing is great
I love this song. You can download it for free off the website.
That's some fine trumpet playing!
He is in Memphis at Navy Band Mid-South.
Damn good.
