- This is PART 2 of how I made my VERY OWN wedding backdrop ! YUP, I totally did a few DIY wedding decorations for my own wedding and they were NOT easy! I wanted to share all my decor with all of you so here it is. Although it is a difficult diy, I hope you can take some inspiration and ideas from it!

Base : This difficult was made out of metal at my local Metal supermarket. See the video above on how I made it. IT is a DIFFICULT diy therefore, I am not recommending doing it unless you are ambitious! However, as promised I still want to share all my DIY's I did for my wedding. All florals were bought from Michaels. They were the best quality and deal for me , however you can also purchase some on amazon.

I am so grateful you shared this! I knew I wanted some floral statement piece, feminine but a little modern and maybe geometric for my ceremony backdrop, but I wasn't sure what. Then I stumbled upon this and fell in love :) I made my own that is much like yours, but I do have some of the frame showing. Just finished it last night and cannot WAIT to see it in action. This is gorgeous! I love this. It is so refreshing to see brides using more faux flowers and doing exceptional diy projects. I love fresh flowers as well, but using faux flowers for some projects makes more sense. I enjoy working with artificial flowers and will be using them for my vow renewal next year. I'm going to try and duplicate this using other materials.

This is so helpful. Thank you, thank you! I’ve been thinking about doing my own and decorating it, but have been stressed about how someone could transport it. Happy to see you started months ahead of time like I will be and glad you showed how it was carried on the truck. I don’t have family nearby so I have to figure out who can take it to the venue and back for me.
yes i was lucky a few friends had trucks! There are very cheap companies that can transport this though :) hope it works out for you!

Looks gorgeous. Very creative and a bargain DIY at $410. So 16 wisteria bunches, 5 long stem wisteria, 4 orchid branches from Michaels cost $280 with 40% off sale. Then you had free labor to create base and metal cost $130. No silver paint? Thanks for sharing

This came out beautifully!!! We did everything for our wedding too. I couldn't see paying all that money for live flowers and they'll be dead in a few days. Plus we do parties and dinners, so we have been using my wedding flowers for 5+years now. All from Michael's too!
riiiiight!! If you get florals that look real and are great quality, they can be re used for so many years :) !

How long did it take to add the flowers? It’s gorgeous. Just curious how much time we should set aside if decorating it the day of the wedding.
I just came across your video. Your project is amazing and we are planing to recreate this for my sister’s wedding this April. I am just wondering if you could provide some more tips and costing wise , approximately how many flowers total, and the kind of material you use used for your base? Sorry for being so inquisitive but we really adore your work! 😘
Hi Anna! You can find it on part 1. It was all from the metal store and used very light metals for the base so we can bend them. Flowers from Michaels and cost me around $300 Canadian. You can find more of them now as Spring flowers come in at this time at Michaels :)
i love this! And I'm making a very similar one with the wisteria. Personally i find those orchids look a little fake to me, but overall it looked amazing! Thank you so much for inspiration!
good luck! it will look amazing! The orchids looked just like the fresh ones on the guests table , they look massive so maybe that's why it looks artificial!

It's amazing! thank you for giving all the details! I would love to see more floral designs like this! I do have a question, do you think this would work on one of those pipe circular backdrops, i noticed the one you have has a big circle than a smaller one within it. Single circle ones are easier to find, do you think those would do the job well?

I rented them from a wedding decor company, but I'm sure they could be found online. they will just be a little pricey!

Hello, instead of attaching the flowers directly onto the arch, could you use a pool noodle to insert the flowers into and then attach it with zip ties?
This is absolutely stunning! I plan on doing something like this for my upcoming wedding. I wanted to know around how much did you spend on the faux flowers? I noticed in the clip at your wedding that you've added more to the arch.
I actually just spread the flowers so it looks fuller on the day of the wedding. Its the same amount used in the video though . It cost around $300 Canadian for me from Michaels :)

It's wrapped in garbage bags and tape literally! the hotel wrapped it in actual packaging wrap for us when we were done!

Absolutely gorgeous!!! I realize you want to reuse it for yourself but you could rent it out to recoup cost and maybe even have a side business. P.S. I am not a fan of fake flower, this is the exception

How did you transport it to your event location? Was it all in one piece or does it come apart?

Quick question for clarification. So you cut all of the zip ties after? How did it hold up?
Hi Anita! Yes I used them to hold them up and held them very well. I cut the excess and they were practically invincible after :)

Did you buy foliage separately or did you use the greenery that comes with the wisteria?
I just had 2 pieces of greenery from the dollar store that I put at the bottom. The rest of the greens are popping out from the wisteria :)

Who has $410 to put on a DIY wedding backdrop? You could rent a backdrop similar to that at a fraction of the cost. When will you ever use any of your big wedding decor pieces again? Probably never lol I don't have that kind of money to pay for a backdrop like that. It was beautiful though.
as mentioned its a specialty DIY. Made all the money back and much more renting this as well as Ive used it many times and will continue using it, therefore I made it. Needed to share it to spark some info, and these backdrops can cost $700 and up, thanks :)
