We had Steve Walsh at the time, his recruitment was players like Sigurdsson 45 million, Walcott 25 million, Tosun, Niasse the list goes on. We're not as stupid with our money anymore with Marcel Brands, He got Rodriguez, Allan, Doucouré and Godfrey for around 60 million, with Brands we're not spending big money on past it players that plus Ancelottis pulling power and we're finally recruiting smartly and saving a lot of money.
I think at the time he was credited highly, so much so he was deemed Sir Alex’s replacement. Since then, until West Ham this season, he hasn’t achieved anything close - so he lost that credit.
It seems that when Everton did get money they just spent it without thinking. Can you imagine if Moyes had been given this kind of budget? Chances are he could've achieved something for Everton. As a West Ham fan I wish we could give Moyes the budget Everton now has so he could spend it on the players he wants
@@jameskelly260 that’s not the point. Everton just got their best result at anfield in 22 years and having their best season in years, so it’s not just one game
As an Everton fan, I do think we have made odd choices. I'd prefer a youth based "Dortmund" style model, for sure. Only Man City (and Blackburn) have bought success. Chelsea were already a top 4 side when Abramovich came in. Arsenal, Man United, built teams from misfits and rising stars. Everton lack identity in their play. Dogged and hard working used to see us through, now I couldnt really say. 500M is insane
You guys should make sure Pedro Goncalves from Sporting and Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax are bought imo. Two players you really need. Also I believe another CB is necessary but one with experience in the UCL or something aswell as a GK and a RW for example Sarr.
United were never built alone with rising stars. Ferguson broke British transfer records for almost all positions year after year for Andy Cole, Cantona, Veyron, Ferdinand, Jaap Stam, Van Der Sar, Denis Irwin (most expensive british right back), CR7, Rooney, Van Persie etc

The truth of Steve Walsh at Everton. Offered us Robertson and Maguire from Hull for a combined 20m. Had Haaland ready to join from Salzburg for 4 million euros. He’s not to blame, it’s the people that stopped them transfers and advocated for the ones of siggurdson and Tosun that are to blame.
As an Everton fan, this was really interesting. Over the past few years, I've always noticed the poor results. I think we've been lacking a ball-playing defender. Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are strong, tall, physical defenders. Ben Godfrey is a step in the right direction and full credit to Marcel Brands. I think he is a good person to lead Everton in the transfer window. I think Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Levekusen would be a great signing. He young, physical, quick. He would suit our style perfectly. I also think Jonjoe Kenny will become good when he returns from Celtic on loan. I think he is a good replacement for Seamus Coleman in the long-term. If Everton don't want him, I think Petar Stojanovic from Dinamo Zagreb. He is a similar player to Seamus Coleman. He is younger and will bring down the average squad age. I also think a younger midfield would help. Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon, Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach and Yusuf Yazici from LOSC Lille would all be good signings. Palhinha is like Allan, Florian Neuhaus is like Abdolaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes. Yusuf Yazici is similar to James Rodriguez.

Well, since Everton are looking at UCL qualification, whether anyone agrees or not because that is the position they're in. Even if I believe Everton will just miss out on the top four, the current Everton team is better now than it was in 2014. I should know, I've had a season ticket since the late 90's and have seen my fair share of good and bad Everton sides. The only difference is that the league is more competitive for European qualification at present. The future looks considerably brighter under Ancolloti than it ever was under Martinez. Like a lot of fellow blues, I always thought Martinez was a fraud and was proven right for his next two seasons. Should of waited until after the Derby to decide whether to upload this video or not.
Everton tries to imitate Chelsea and Man City way to overshadow their city rival who is wearing red shirt. Sadly, Everton couldn't do it as their owner doesn't possess the wealth like Mansour or Abramovich
Yeah and almost being relegated, in which you were barely above the relegation zone by few points. If winning against big team is a success for the Club, then Watford is a successful team since they beat the team that had the largest amount of Domestic Trophy
