  • Byrna’s first .68 caliber shoulder fired launcher, the Mission-4 re-engineered by Byrna, is based on the AR15 platform, one of the most popular rifle platforms in world. This mag fed launcher comes with coupled, 19 round magazines which allow the user the flexibility of quickly reloading or switching between ammo types in less than a second.
The Byrna Mission-4 is powered by an 88 gram CO2 cartridge that is housed inside the butt stock and is capable of firing 60 rounds per cartridge at a range of 175 feet. To charge the Mission 4 just screwed the CO2 cartridge into the launcher utilizing the supplied adaptor and once the stock is fitted over it, its ready to go.
The Mission-4 also comes with a positive air disconnect switch allowing the user to safely cut the air supply from the cartridge to the launcher, extending the life of the cartridge in between shooting sessions.
Included with the launcher are flip-up front and rear sights, fore-grip, and a full length picatinny top rail and M-Lok rails on the hand-guards allowing for the addition of various optics, lights, bipods, and other accessories.
Coming in at under 30 Inches long, weighing only 5.6 Pounds, and launching .68 caliber projectiles at 325fps, shooting the Mission-4 is not only easy but users will have fun reaching out and consistently hitting targets farther and more accurately then ever before.
If you’re wanting to protect your property, home, and your loved ones, the capabilities of the Byrna Mission-4 make it the ultimate tool for less-lethal self defense.

Selling at almost three times the price* a paintball rifle that has been on the market for 7 years is NOT "raising the bar."
On "fleabay" you can buy an all-black Tippmann TMC M4 new in the box for $350. (If you doubt this Byrna is a Tippmann M4, find on Google some close-ups of this Byrna model. On the left side of the "receiver" embossed in the metal it says: "Tippmann M4 Carbine.")
      * If you lived in my state, California, OTD the Byrna would cost me $990 ($900 for the Byrna M4, $90 sales tax).

    • @canucksfan9420
      @canucksfan9420 28 днів тому

I actually wrote to Byrna with this exact question and I got a response. This is a copy and paste of what they sent me
Hello, thank you for contacting Byrna Technologies!

Very lightly tighten the CO2 cylinder until you feel it start to get harder to turn and immediately stop. While you are tightening the cylinder, it should turn very easily with very little pressure. As soon as you feel it stop turning, the cylinder is pressed up against the pin that punctures the cylinder.

At this point, install the stock upside down, 180 degrees from the normal position with stock pointing up. Please cock the launcher by pulling the charging handle fully to the rear, insert the magazine, and ensure the air valve is in the on position. The launcher is now ready to store.

All you need do now to use the launcher is grab the stock/cylinder and twist it clockwise 1 and a half turns so the stock is now in the normal position. This will puncture the CO2 and now the launcher is ready to fire. All that remains to be done is put the safety on "Fire" and pull the trigger to shoot.

Thank you for reaching out. Have a great day and be Prepared to Defend!

I also run a glock 17, when needed. But having the non lethal approach is nice. If this launcher is more powerful than the SD than i will happily pay 899.00 for it.

As to the why on this, there are consumer, law enforcement, and security segments in the less-than-lethal industry. Byrna (who bought Mission Less Lethal just before this launch in 2021) doesn't intend to sit on the sidelines while Umarex (a German company) comes into the U.S. and capitalizes on the now-booming KINETIC less-than-lethal CONSUMER market (e.g., the fantastically popular Umarex HDX, HDB, HDP, HDR, etc.).
Moreover, I assume Byrna has to be worried about the future of its consumer-marketed pepper-based launchers. Indeed, all that need be said about that side of the business, all pepper PROJECTILE launchers are BANNED in California and New York, the two biggest consumer markets for less-than-lethal launchers, which unfortunately for Byrna has between the two a combined population of 60 million.
So what would you do on acquiring Mission Less Lethal (inc. Tippmann). Exactly what happened here, rush to market a rebadged the established and already proven Tippmann TMC Elite (M4), festooned with Byrna-orange accented pieces. Here's some of what Byrna announced in a 2021 press release and forward-looking statement:
"With the acquisition of the Mission product line, its unrivaled suite of IP for non-lethal applications, and the Kore patents, combined with Byrna's already extensive IP portfolio, [this] will allow our R&D team to develop a number of exciting, new, non-lethal Byrna products for both the consumer and law enforcement markets in the months and years to come . . . In the coming weeks and months we look forward to sharing further details about this attractive and highly strategic acquisition."
Enter the Byrna Mission-4, which retains all the Tippmann TMC M4 markings throughout.
Note on pricing: Byrna's is way off. The only reason it is double what the TMC sold for is because of the Byrna name. In what's shaping to be a highly price competitive market IMO this Byrna launcher should be $350 or lower, if for no other reason than there's low demand for less-than-lethal products priced at the same level as firearms. And now with the Bruen decision* there's a new factor entering into a consumer's decision on which way to go on self defense, a firearm or a less-than-lethal launcher.
Byrna needs to price these to be competitive with the Umarex launchers, which the average know-nothing consumer is going to assume: "all do the same thing, provide me a means of self-defense in the home." FPS, Joules, grams, Co2, HPA, is gobbledygook talk to the millions of potential less-than-lethal customers. What the consumer is buying is peace of mind, that if someone breaks into the garage or back door they have the means to defend themselves. But like Mace and pepper, the odds are slim that in one's lifetime they will ever have to use these launchers, so I think the consumer will pay only so much for self defense.
    * I said a few years back that the future is in consumer KINETIC PROJECTILE less-than-lethal. My prediction is now tempered by the June 2022 SCOTUS "Bruen" decision, which "conferred" on all U.S. citizens (subject to few exceptions, e.g., felons) the Constitutional 2nd Amendment right to conceal-carry firearms in public.
The Bruen decision probably upset the less-than-lethal industry; assuming consumers en masse will choose to buy firearms rather than less-than-lethal. Then again, I assume there's millions of folks who will nevertheless choose to arm themselves with safer-in-the-house less-than-lethal launchers, and for conceal carry a CO₂ kinetic weapon. So maybe the Bruen decision will cause a decline in interest of less-than-lethal launchers, but maybe not; we shall see.

Byrna's launcher pricing is not competitive. Their sticker price for an AR-15 look-alike paintball launcher is $100 higher than the average sticker price for a real AR-15 rifle. Umarex has better prices on their equally capable T4E product line. They won't ship the Max ammo to my state, so I can't give an informed opinion on it, but their pepperball ammo has an advertised shelf life of 18 months and it costs $4.80 per round in 25 count packages and $6 per round for a five pack. I'm sure Byrna makes a quality product, but in my opinion, they're pricing themselves out of the industry.

The problem is if you a conservative republican you know you don't need more then your real steel cause ppl will break into your home with real firearms I guarded an apartment complex and there where shooting happened at night before they decided to hire us to petrol their complex
Papper round wouldn't work for self defense at that point
Now don't understand wrong I'm not saying you shouldn't have it or it's not worth it
You can own one as an option Incase you don't need to use your firearm in a situation that aren't required you to draw your 9mm pistol but I wouldn't rely on it as a primary weapon of self defense
Those less then lethal weapons most of the time works great in croud control or Riot or maybe trying to get a suspect in custody it's good tools to use in police force or a security firm but it isn't effective when it comes one on one who you aren't sure yet what weapon they got on you
Like I said I use those at work but that's cause my work force me to carry less them lethal with me and I do not carry Taser or like to use them Mace from any sort works better then a Taser
But hows that works in one on one self defense situation !? What If the intruder was carrying a pistol ? Or a rifle
How effective a .68 Cali ball against a 9mm or 5.56 !? I'm sure if the intruder carrying real still his round will hit you faster then you will hit them with a Tippmann TMC with pepper rounds ☝️
In such a time in our world after everything happened I think if any of you thinking about buying a weapon for the first time to protect your self and your family please don't make this magfed gun to be your choice
Buy a real gun first go to the Range get some classes learn how to use it safely then later on you can buy that pepper gun as a secondary when your threat isn't armed !!!

Obviously this is no match for an opponent with a REAL gun - but if it can incapacitate someone quickly, it might be worth having.

So.. a paintball gun for 3X the money.
Edit* Just looked up the price of the shoulder fire launcher, 899$. Pretty sure these are the same caliber as a paintball. And a Tippmann 98 custom is like 90 bucks. If you just bought these balls with the Tippmann you would really save yourself some money. Then just add the aftermarket parts. Metal barrel. OH wait. Tippmann has one already. telescopic butt stock and M4 OEM also available. But The Tippmann has a M4 model for roughly 200$ couple things of spray paint boom same thing. WAY CHEAPER! Yea .68 caliber in video info. Same as a paintball. I can order some Tippmann M4s and make you guys the same thing. I promise lol and I've never felt more confident in saying that hahaha
ANOTHER SIDE NOTE! Tippman should just sponsor me at this point. But after reading some reviews and comments from other people. People say these don't really have a 330fps yadda yadda. But most over the counter paintball guns come out of the box shooting roughly around 280 fps and that just factory set. What ( as what i can see from the video and pictures) i see is this gun don't have a velocity screw. Letting you regulate more CO2 into the gun for high FPS or lower FPS. So with a gun almost 700 dollars cheaper. you can crank up to about 330 fps (legitly) from all guns. not just one being recorded. This product has confused me more than opened my eyes. The sad part. They are almost sold out and gouged the fuck out of there customers.
