This was when Ren hadn’t been diagnosed with Lyme disease yet and the doctors were still telling him it was all in his head. Bibi was his girlfriend at the time and Ren was afraid all his medical issues would drive her away. Although they eventually broke up, she set up his GoFundMe that allowed him to get the medical treatment needed for a correct diagnosis.
I did not know. Amazing she still supported him through all this.

"was shot with no budget at the end of a frickin ' freezing October, felt like I was going to get hypothermia lying on cold slate for a few hours, serious case of mind over matter but so happy with how it turned out :) The song came about after a nervous breakdown following lots of visits to emergency room after some scary health problems. It's a song for anybody who has faced any kind of mental challenges, depression, anxiety, or health struggles while in a relationship and all the fears that come along for the ride with that. It is also a song for the courageous and wonderful people who support their other halves, family or friends during times of crisis :) In whatever context I hope my music can help take some of the weight from anyone suffering and help people feel less alone."❤

I love tracks like these.
This video deals with Ren's fear of being too sick to be lovable. His fear is losing Bibi. I believe she came back to do this video with him. She was there to help him with the fundraiser that led to his correct diagnosis, but had to leave for her own mental health. Ren was sure he was going to die this year (2015) he wrnt down to 112 lbs and he is 6'1". He fell into psychosis he describes in Seven Sins. Music truly is his therapy.

Heart-breakingly beautiful song written at the height of his illness and before he eventually got the correct diagnosis of Lyme's Disease. How many artists (any ?) can create something like this ?

I found you & Subscribed as many have via reactions to Ren. His impact in the reaction community is real and even the new reactors are finding him and seeing the value in reacting to his stuff. You have covered some pretty deep tracks, so I am sure I am not the first to recommend you watching some of his stuff with his band busking in the UK. Totally different vibe, yet still amazing to watch Ren (and company) do their thing. "I Shot the Sheriff" by The Big Push is a great one to start with. Enjoy brother, and keep your head up. Your reactions are insightful and real....you can see the effect Rens lyrics have on you, and that is the point. Feeling is healing.

Thank you so much for reacting to this! It is one of my favorite songs by Ren, and yet it seems to have gotten lost in his vast catalog of newer masterpieces. The cinematography is breathtaking and the song is hauntingly beautiful. The explosion of Ren's vocals at the end gives me the chills every time I listen to it. In my opinion, it's both a visual and emotional masterpiece! I don't know why it doesn't have a million views by now! This is a song that should be played on every radio station - it's that good! ❤🔥❤

Yes Crutch is an underrated track indeed. Performed in his darkest days accompanied by his girlfriend back in these days, Bibi. Ren says in the description, that they actually had about no budget for the video. But hell what powerful visuals did they get out of it. Love it, thank you for reacting to this gem 💎❤

You’ll definitely need 3 separate reactions for the money game series as I think you’ll find a lot to talk about… as with most Ren videos! All 3 are great in their own right but you can see the development over time by starting at 1 and ending with 3, it’s sooo worth it, can’t wait!

Watch the Money Games sequentially, they don't need to be at once, but since the next has references to the previous, don't space them too far apart. Money Game 2 has two versions, I feel the lyric video is more complete and should be seen before the live version. 😁

This is one of my favorites. Both the song and video are stunning!! And this was one of his early tracks - before he knew that he was battling Lyme disease.
Bibi was his girlfriend at the time and she was his crutch for a good length of time. She helped him set up the GoFundMe page to raise funds for his treatment. Ultimately I think it was too much of a strain for her mental health. But at the end of the video, even though he’s alone, she was able to help him stand on his own.

This is such a powerful, creative track and video. This one breaks me, being someone whose "crutch" left when I was at my lowest. Really enjoyed your reaction to this one. Take your time with Suic!de. Freckled Angels and For Joe are the other parts of that "trilogy." Might be easier to do Freckled Angels first. Do Money Game in 3 separate videos. Part 3 is the same length as Hi Ren 😉. They are all amazing and worth exploring individually. 💜💜

Crutch was filmed during some of the days of his illness. He was very thin. Bibi was his girlfriend and a major force in setting up go fund me campaign for Ren's medical costs. Thanks for this reaction!

Thank you for reacting to one of my absolute favourites from Ren ❤ The way he manages to perfectly express agony and fear in lyrics, voice, music, and even the video is stunning. And never has distortion sounded so emotional! It’s heart wrenching but beautiful.

The Money Game trilogy can each be done as separate video reactions. Some have done all 3 at once, but that does make for a much longer video...as the 3rd one is over 9 minutes.
That was my worry that it would get a little too long. Might do them seperate but release in consecutive days.

When you're in the right headspace, I suggest you watch Suic*de and then follow it with For Joe, which is a live version of the last (hard-hitting) verse combined with some slightly more uplifting lyrics, both new and drawn from an old song on the same topic, Freckled Angels.
Regarding the Money Game trilogy: it doesn't have spoilers in the same way as the Tale of Jenny and Screech, but people tend to get the most out of them if watched in order. Each one stands alone, so see how you feel after the first one as to whether you keep going there and then.
If you're looking for something a bit lighter, try Power (some tough lines but an upbeat song with an uplifting message) or the Love Music trilogy (parts 1-3 are perfect; part 4 is a bit too lewd for my tastes).

For me, this song was like art to me. I can't imagine what it's like to leave yourself that open and vulnerable, showing ones body up close like that. Money Game can be done separately. It's not a continuous story like Jenny and Screech. Part 1 is over 5 mins and part 3 is over 9 minutes. I don't think you've done Genesis yet. That's one of his best imo.

I think I've watched all of Ren's videos and this is my favourite, for so many reasons. Thanks for the input. After many comments i decided to do the seperate and release in 3 consecutive days. Part 1 went yesterday actually. Part 2 comes tonight.
Money Game can be in 1, 2 or 3 videos - (1 and 2 are shorter - 3 is quite long). Just make sure you do them in order and make sure the 2nd one is the lyric video and not the live version. The live is great but it's only 1/2 the song and for the trilogy it's best to see the whole thing.

I've discovered Ren over a year now..
And I'm still in awe and ren's has songs for any type of mood ...(including the big push) now I'm vibing to * loco* ....love music 1-4 ...masochist ...down with the beat... I could list quite a long list lol not many artist I can do that with.... and im from the Metallica... iron maiden Era and culture ...for me to be in awe with someone like ren ...never thought I'd see that day ... not at my age !
I appreciate your heartfelt reactions. But, also, don't forget to switch it up and watch some of Ren's more upbeat ones interspersed w/the heavier ones. They are all worthwhile, but it's good to switch it up w/Ren's stuff, I think. (Also, I like For Joe better than Suicide, because while it deals w/the same issue, even taking the last part of Suicide word for word as the beginning of For Joe, there is more of a "hopeful" feel/some closure at the end of For Joe.) Yes, watch Money Game in order (tho they are complete in themselves, actually), but again offers 3 perspectives on what/how the money game affects us/works.
Will try to remember that. I always gravitate towards these kind of tracks. But will switch it up from time to time.

I recommend doing the Money Games each separately or 1 and 2 together and 3 on its own. The third one is as long as Hi Ren so it would be a super long reaction if you did all three together. And to reiterate, the 1st and 3rd are music videos and the 2nd is a lyric video.

There is so much to break down in the money game series visually and lyrically that I suggest you do them individually as separate videos. Although it is a trilogy , they stand alone in their own right . Some reactors have done all 3 together if you wanted to give that a go ! If they are separate do the releases close together - I can't imagine you wanting to delay anyway as they are captivating !

A lot of people do the Sewer Slide video first but hear me out. Do For Joe before that one. For Joe is the completion of it. It's also the better version imo (They are both great though).
