Many western country singers may not realize the late John Denver was and still is possibly the most well known singer in most of Asia . His country roads song is like a national "travel anthem' song all over the world.
I usually like Charles Grodin (R.I.P.) but this interview.....hmmm? I applaud John giving him straight and honest answers. As a former Radio Broadcaster, and having conducted many interviews, parts of this talk was more like badgering than asking questions that John would feel comfortable in answering. Love and Miss You JD ♥
Ray Stevens had a 1984 song called "Kissing You Goodbye (Get Your Tongue Out Of My Mouth)" which is also a country style song. I had to look up who wrote it, him or John, but they are two different songs with a shared punchline.
It sucks that at the end of every little mini conversation John is talking and really forefront with what he’s talking about and Grodin just brings up that chainsaw
@@highflyingbird6467 personally I think his voice only got better. I saw Def Leppard a few years back and they were probably the same age as John Denver here, but Joe Elliot can’t hit the high notes anymore.
Agreed. The best interviewers are the one's who ask intelligent questions, then shut up and let the guest answer. There aren't many good interviewers; most are narcissists who love the sound of their own voices.

Oh boy the interviewer!!!
Good on John for getting through this and being the intelligent one.
John is my favorite singer, songwriter and celebrity. Charles doesn’t know when to stop a joke.
Happy Birthday John 2022 New Years Eve ❤
Just love John Denver!!

Grodin, God rest his soul, was a lousy interviewer. Denver must've had great patience to put up with Grodin's patronizing.
Totally
😂haha I love how at 28:32 mark JD just embraces calling it "the Aspen chainsaw massacre" omg hahaha.
I am glad I got to see this but it brings some sadness.
😂"from an embrace" (on their honeymoon) "somehow I cracked her ribs"... Uh huh. An embrace ?? Hahaha wink wink. JD is too funny!

God bless Charles Grodin as he isn't here any more but he was not a good interviewer... at all. John showed the patience of a saint here.
He sure kept bringing up the chainsaw. 🙄
John looked in good shape and was a pleasure to listen too, His gift of music and his down to earth personality are still sorely missed.
After reading the comments I won’t even listen to the interview it would probably just irritate me.
Give it a go. You'll be pleased with how resilient John is, and his friendship with Carl.

John was an extremely talented and attractive man!! Wish I had known him.
Grodin needed to talk less and ask more questions.

*wondering if it's possible to ask questions while shutting up* 😆😆
Interviewer loves to hear himself, talk so arrogant the whole time
