@@mylurebox I do most of my flatty bashing down at St George's Basin because I live in Canberra now , I did a lot of game fishing out of Jervis Bay , spent years chasing beakies and tuna but now I love catching estuarine species casting or jigging lures . I have been getting into the natives around the local dams and lakes on swimbaits and really love the strikes on lures . Love your vids by the way, you keep it real and no bullshit. My pb platycephalus was 92cm foul hooked after it missed the lure , bought it up sideways and was lucky it didn't get off . Happy snaps and released back into the system. Definitely going to try more glydebaits in the shallows . Cheers
Great vid mate, been watching heaps of ya vids , Just got me a old edge tracker that I'm looking forward to the casting deck n snake electric .....will keep this vid in mind for big girl lizards ....KRACKA
Mate those Edge Trackers were my next upgrade I had in mind before I realized another boat was outa the question for a while yet. They’re an epic set up and with decks would be so good!!

I got myself a couple of big glide baits one is a Gan Craft Jointed Claw 178mm 2oz and the other is a MMD Whiting Glide 180 SS in Sand colour, had them for a while and never used them as the Gan Craft cost $100 so I’m a bit nervous casting it haha. Cool clip though mate I don’t see many swim bait videos.
Aparrently zerek live mullets rolled over the flats actually work well for me but the purple or pink colour works in brackish water and lure box what river do you fish in?
Hi Taylor, thanks for the heads up. I’ve gotta give em a run for sure. I usually fish the systems an hour or so either side of the Gold Coast. The bigger systems and Broadwater being my preference for the big flatties
Get stuffed (famous words of a yak fisho) your in a real water craft, glade that crapski is parked in the shed. Another quality Costello production, full of incredible info. 👍👍
I was at bcf the other day and seen the Savage gear glide baits and they had a deal on for $10 and I was super surprised by the action, defiantly recommend swapping out the trebles to something abit more fine gauge, but for $10 a pop there's no fear about smashing em right in close for some big bass and big Jack's haha
Probably a bit late, but will ask. Are you using the 200 or 300 size Curado baitcaster? I am assuming 300 with the weight of some of those swimbaits. Thanks in advance.
Hey mate what size rod do you use for the big swim baits ? I have a Gary Loomis 10-20pound I don’t think I could throw the bigger baits out. Any info would be appropriated? Never mind I kept watching and u tell us what rod u use 😂 Could I possibly use the same rod to chase Barra?
@@mylurebox I'm keen to see how they go I differently think you mite draw some larger Jack's out.im just hoping to get my first red dog on the board this season
Thanks for the vid mate. So minimum size ~150mm you reckon? My best flatties over the years have been all caught on an old (1980's) 15cm Nilsmaster Invincible in a now defunct mullet pattern.
I know the lure you’re talking about ;) I reckon anything around the 18cm is ball park. You can’t go too big from what I’ve seen. The game is changing and I don’t know how far it’s going to keep going with the size thing
There’s lures that stand the test of time hey. Those incredibly special designs. Some of these big baits might be a passing fashion, but right now they’re in vogue and those big fish love em
You said you would review the new swimbaits & show them in action. You did not fail to deliver. I think you were surprised when the big flathead took the lure & you found your landing net was not equal to the task. I will not be purchasing or using these swimbaits. Beyond the capacity of my wallet. For those that can use them, I wish them good luck & success. I look forward to more of your videos whether reviewing lures or fishing. I come from a position of ignorance so all information received is a bonus for me.
Throwing those swimbaits gets me all kinds of excited haha. I was fishing with one yesterday with no luck. How many hours would you recommend using the swim bait for some kind of success? Tough question, so many factors but just a general answer!!
Cant help smiling while watching your excitement when you hook up. As always another great demo and explanation. Love it. Keep up the great work John.
Your such a legend man. Love seeing how amped you get when you hook up.
Anyway, im going lure shopping right now
Love your work , love your excitement , excellent fishing . You are a natural presenter easy to listen to , thanks
I know that feeling you get from hooking up to a croc , watching you play that flatty had me just as pumped .
It’s damn well addictive stuff isn’t it mate. Surprised the hell outa me once I got it happening

What a beast John. Can only imagine the feeling catching one that big. Great fish, thanks for tips.
Great video! I bet you would love the Gan craft 178 floater for this technique, it’s a killer bait and can be worked efficiently in shallow water
Great clip monster croc well done and great info
Cheers Tony. Good to hear you’ve got something from it mate

Hey mate. If you haven't already, get yourself a Jackall Gantia. 180mm, floating, 3 joints. Most amazing swim action I've seen.
I’ve got a couple of em eh. Gotta give em more time in the water this season

What a catch! Why does no one seem to keep their catch?
Cheers for the vid

For sure mate. They’re hard to walk past for that ;)
Great video just wondering if you can give me a link as to where I can get these lures? And where in Australia is this?
What’s ur favourite colour in the zerek afinaty
The white and the ayu from the video are it Taylor ;)

Hey mate. I was using the 200. A 300 woulda been nice though eh
@@mylurebox, thanks for the reply. I have the 200 and a Calcutta 400B so wondering if the 300 fits the bill as the 400 can be heavy for all day use.

Can you use 8lb line if it’s a small swim bait
