The yellow structure where they all dance is linked to the structure where they all dance in Fake Love, except in Fake Love it's worn out and blueish. I remember you noticing that structure and asking about it. It's a nice touch. Also, for the "Atlanta effect" they did this effect before in Jimin's Wings short film (Lie), funny enough the first episode of Atlanta was broadcasted for the 1st time on September 6th 2016 and Lie short film was released on September 5th 2016.
DNA is from "love yourself: her", which is the first album in the "love yourself" trilogy. Fake Love is from the second album "love yourself: tear", and the main song from the last album, "love yourself: answer", is IDOL. The trilogy, as the name says, is about finding self-love. The first one shows a love for another person, which looks fun and colorful, the second talks about how they can't feel that love anymore, and how it feels fake, and last they realize that to love another person they need to love themselves first and start loving themselves (again, sorry for my english, I'm still learning, and sometimes I use the translate)
Idk if that's intentional (it probably is since it's BigHit we're talking about lol), but in DNA (the first title track of the Love Yourself trilogy) you can see this yellow construction site, and in IDOL (the last title track of the Love Yourself trilogy) there is a yellow building that is complete.

I see a lot of people recommending Idol. Idol is very colorful with many constantly changing sets, but it has a lot of meaning in every little thing in it. If you don’t understand the meaning of why they are doing things, it seems like colorful chaos. It is basically an “in your face” to all the criticism from the haters. It is best to watch an explanation video because of all the cultural symbolism used, but also to see the little things they used, like, we don’t like it when you wear large glasses- Tae is wearing oversized glasses;, we don’t like the filters you use during your vlive, Rm uses filters with ears, and goatee; you don’t act Korean anymore, we don’t like when you sing English…… and the list goes on forever. It is an awesome mv when you see what they have in it and why.
This MV was a game changer in so many ways, it really made history for their musical carreer. This reached, attracted so many people. Thank you so much for reacting! The yellow warehouse was filmed outside. I think it was built. Im sorry for my english 💀 lmao Boy I am SO early this time!! ♥ Have a wonderful night : )
This song is very meaningful, as it was the first song that they performed when they made their American live show debut at AMA's and after they performed, in my opinion, i think that that performance was what got them to break into the American market. It would be cool for you to react to the live performance of DNA at the AMA's, just because a lot of fans criticized the way American shows recorded their performance. It would be cool to see whether you agree with that or not since it's in your expertise.
I've actually never really tried to find a deeper meaning in this MV, and I honestly don't know if it has any...? For once I could just watch the video, enjoy the visuals & music and not care about theories. It's crazy, tripy, colorful, and I think it matches the overall vibe of the song. I even think they got criticized for using a lot of CGI in this...? And that's pretty much how *Idol* was born. You should definitely react to it as well - I think Idol might seem like another "deeper-meaning-lacking-video" at first, but a lot of stuff happening there actually has a reason, so maybe you could check out an explanation for it if it's too confusing. Anyways, thank you for (still) reacting to BTS 💜
you’re definitely my favorite reactor!! i recommend watching their music video to their song called “heartbeat,” and i think it’s really underrated so it would be cool to see your analysis on it :) they made that song specifically for their mobile game called “BTS world” (along with 3 other songs featuring artists like juice wrld) and it’s such a bop
As always, interesting observations. I know the lyrics seem to indicate a special person, but there's a video from one of their documentaries where J-Hope says he thinks it was destiny that these seven men came together. They are from different areas of Korea. Several did not have family support. Jin was discovered getting off a bus with a friend who "was" auditioning. Suga was only interested in production and writing. Jimin had a very short training period and says he was almost cut many times. J-Hope's Mother took extra work to aford/support his training. RM was given the option to go solo but stayed. There was a worry that V would be signed with another company. Jungkook was "so" young. Even the fact they have managed to stay together and overcome disagreements, insecurities, and hardships is unusual. And, they seem to genuinely appreciate each other. I've seen fan comments that say they are only popular because of a few members, but I find each one contributes in a unique way to the success of the group. I deeply appreciate them.
And the song is so different. Ah, I love BTS for their diversity. It seems from what Alex is describing that they’re equally diverse in their filmmaking. I’d love a reaction to Save Me, too. Because it also is good and different.
Thanks for you reaction, Alex! Finally got to this one. :) So the colors -- you picked up on part of it; duality/opposites attract. They use a lot of primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and complimentary color pairs (yellow/violet, blue/orange, green/red, black/white). The rainbow represents those colors mixing together like in love BUT ALSO... When scientists look at DNA they actually use different colors of dye. Often DNA charts and representations are really colorful. :) I'm looking forward to your reaction to IDOL which has some similarities to this one production-wise.
i really enjoy your perspective into the videos, because i've seen them hundreds of times but it gives me chills to actually understand a little bit more about the production. Can't wait for more content !!
This was also the first time they ever went for the super bright, punch you in the face, colors. And thier most “pop” title track until that point. Like they went from Blood, Sweat, and Tears right into this. It was absolutely shocking at the time. But it came right after their first ever win at the Billboards. And it was the first time any Korean artist had ever even been invited to something of that caliber in America so all of the Kpop community had eyes on them and were cheering for them. I remember when it came out and I didn’t really love it at the time but I streamed it like crazy because it felt like we were all in together and loved BTS enough we were ready to force their success! This is one of those mile marker songs
i became an army just about couple months before DNA came out and let me tell you it was CRAZY how big they got thanks to that comeback. DNA is something of a cultural reset to me.
if you want to see another very colorful mv i suggest you idol ! its a lot to take in at first ahah but i personally really like it and it has a lot of traditional korean influences ! great video as always
Yes yes on the traditional Korean influences! K-Pop is an extension of traditional Korean theater, and the makeup and costumes and choreography and telling a story in a performance are part of that. Being an idol is a part of their cultural heritage.
Hey Alex, I'm also Alex, but a feminine Alex, that is, I'm Alexandra. You're reactions are so interesting and I wish I could remember everything you say, but I can't 🤭. a little fact: serendipity and DNA lyrics are gender neutral intentionally (the translators(s) messed up tho), they said it’s because these feeling and emotions are universal. love them for that
this is my era. i became an AMRY during dna, sep 2018. it is such a captivating song and mv and choreography. they all look so cool and young and playful.
now i think what's left is IDOL mv to complete the title tracks of the love yourself trilogy which will leave you even more confused but it's really incredible
the galaxies in their eyes is reflecting the idea of microcosm they explore through their discography , the belief that humans are the epitome/reflection of the universe (the macro-cosm), basically a little universe. plus it plays into the whole pre-destined theme in they talk about in the lyrics, something like "love pre-destined by the stars". DNA, as the first title song of the Love yourself series, is the epitome of person believing they found their one, true pre-destined love, the one who suppose to complete them. paired with Jimin's solo that talks about how unique their loved ones, you have the premise of the narrator/ the singer putting their loved on on some sort of a pedestal, which would later on become a conflict between their love for the other person yet they not as compatible as they thought they are.... which leads to the conflict in Singularity and Fake love, as they try to lock/hide away their 'true self' to keep pretense of this 'perfect destined love'.
Now i wonder what your reaction would be if you react to IDOL 😂 But before IDOL, please react to the intro of it first, it's Epiphany by Jin :) The theme of the lyrics is related.
Namjoon actually said that the song was inspired by the members and his belief that they were destined to find each other in all universes and realities :) So while the song is kind of a love song, you weren't wrong in guessing that it might also be about them.
it's very interesting that you noted the video was out of character for bts because they followed this era up with fake love !! in a way, dna can be interpreted as the "fake love" or the lie that sometimes people lull themselves into on their self-love journey, which is why it's colorful and includes many special effects, but eventually the truth will have to come out. i think bts returning to their darker aesthetics with fake love straight after love yourself: her era is to emphasize this contrast !! hope i worded that well lol
I recommend BTS "Heartbeat', it's one of their underrated song because it is just an ost of BTS game app and yes it has an mv! The story in the mv is very meaningful, I'm looking forward on how you'll interpret it.
apart from the lyrics and the whole context of the song, the solo Jimin scenes on the 2nd chorus are the most direct visual references to Serendipity imo. especially because of the white environment he’s in, the blue background and the sun that reminds that huge yellow ball/balloon that we saw him with before. :) but yeah, serendipity (jimin) was the introduction to DNA and singularity (v) was the introduction of fake love.
Idk if other ARMYs have mentioned this but you said you are confused with them holding hands and stuff. They are imitating the Double Helix (it is the description of a DNA molecular structure).
Fun fact DNA was the song that lead them to success in the west. Bts had previously gotten recognition with “Run” and then stuck success with “blood sweat & tears” in Korea winning big awards and getting recognition. It was kind of natural progression, because BTS has always been active in social media and now was gaining more views and being talked about more that they were bound to be found by Americans. this song kind of just hit the nail on the head being a good pop song at the time and propelled them even higher into success. They had good marketing and had just partnered with UNICEF for a anti violence campaign. they’ve always supported charities but having this big partnership and a general love/kindness message with the love yourself albums that came with and followed DNA it really branded BTS in the best light. Making them palatable and likeable to overseas fans
I just checked the links in the description and saw you have Red Bull in there.. Living in Austria I never thought someone would order Red Bull from Amazon, we have them everywhere in all the different flavors ^^'
It song beat JB,Ariana, demi and such massive artist in BBMAs in top social artist award. Justin bieber used to known as holder of Top social artist but now BTS won that award 5 concescutive times with no competition because BTS had about 44M votes and Runner up or 2nd had about 11M votes. If we add other nominated artist votes they still can't beat them.
if this video effects gave you so many questions, you would definitely love their "idol" mv. but I've seen you already know about GCF, so im looking forward to you react to it as well ! I'm definitely going to be back everyday for your new videos.
Hmm it is one of most colorful MVs they have. 😉 Not my fav, but it did great for them. Next that is wild is "Idol" MV and this one is mostly CGI and gren screen and effects. 😉 So if you want to watch video when they use technology is this one. Then Boy with love is also colorful but have like 5 real big sets....
If you're looking to react to other KPOP groups, maybe outside of Hybe, you should definitely check out Mamamoo's Starry Night. It has soo much good camera work and the setting where the MV takes place is also breath taking. I think it's something you would really like.
Yes, Mamamoo has so much worth checking out. For visuals, I’d particularly recommend Décalcomanie, and Hwasa’s Maria. I’m hoping in time you’ll get to them.
All their music videos are different in every aspect so that the viewers can venture to different visuals of the video all their music videos are very interesting that you will think hard on what is it all about
7:44 the voice tone of Alex explaining lights and camera work is soothing, we get from time to time : oh interesting, wow amazing, usually for the robotic world under our eyes. I know sometimes the dance is really lost on Alex but it’s lovely how we get the same intensity or passion for all the rest. It rewards all the technical team doing the technical job in synch with seven talents’s hard work. In case, DNA is your first taste of BTS trough Alex’s eyes. Alex explains well the fangirling effect of those videos. I was listening about Korean reactor telling how idols males have to shave often. They usually resort to laser removal of the moustache I was thinking about it when Alex was thinking about impeccable lights and shadows
Thank you for the reaction! Actually the dna mv was so trippy and I didn't really look for hidden meanings haha I could see the gears in your head turning almost. I think this is one of their MVs that Bighit decided to make so as to give a break for ARMYs making theories LOL. You seem to really like making theories so I'll recommend Film Out (if you like hehe). You'll see similarities between that MV and Fake Love's MV. But anyways, keep up the good work! I always check this channel daily lately and I'm really happy that you uploaded haha.
Thank you for such wonderful videos. Since I started watching your reactions I am now paying attention to camera angles, what lightning use and what mood they are using. Thank you so much, It gave me another excuse to watch the same videos for the 100+x

Love Yourself Her : Serendipity and DNA being in love Love Yourself Wonder : Euphoria being somehow being obsess like they only reason for happiness Her and Wonder is like one Love Yourself Tears : Singularity and Fake Love realising they lost themselves for loving someone Love Yourself Answer : Epiphany and Idol Im the one I should love in this world this is just my thoughts for the love yourself series, I dont know about the others
THIS is the song/MV that catapulted BTS into the stratosphere. Ok, the meaning...obviously it can be about two people meant to meet and fall in love. Or ARMY and BTS. Or the 7 members. BTS and Big Hit. Any and/or all? Lol. Take your pick.
@@LeilaleilaZ, I was so freakin' proud of them even though at the time I wasn't ARMY yet. I was just happy for what that performance meant for Kpop in general. Then I started paying close attention and finally fell down the rabbit hole fully in 2018.

apart from the lyrics and the whole context of the song, the solo Jimin scenes on the 2nd chorus are the most direct visual references to Serendipity imo. especially because of the white environment he’s in, the blue background and the sun that reminds that huge yellow ball/balloon that we saw him with before. :)
but yeah, serendipity (jimin) was the introduction to DNA and singularity (v) was the introduction of fake love.
in the album, serendipity is the third song on the track, and dna follows that as the fourth track
Idk if other ARMYs have mentioned this but you said you are confused with them holding hands and stuff. They are imitating the Double Helix (it is the description of a DNA molecular structure).
haaa wait for IDOL, the effects just ✨ chef kisss✨ as always thanks alex, i enjoy the reaction
If this was trippy...wait till you watch IDOL lol >.
"they use so many effects in this music video" just wait till you see idol 😭
I leave this video wid more questions than answers!
I FEEL YOU as an army😂
I love DNA, its more mind blowing, colorful rainbow like!
I would love to see a reaction to idol too because they really went crazy with the “out of character” effects and cgi.
When he watches the shooting sketch.. 🤭🤭
Yayyyyyy 😊💜💙_#BTSDNA😊💜💙 Love ❤️ 🎵🎼This SONG 🎶 🎧 ☺️
I love your reactions man, you teach me so so much, thanks
if you react to IDOL , You'll be even more tripped out
the effect are like 100x more than DNA
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES TOOOO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"They use a lot of effects in this music video"
Laughs in IDOL
I love how theorist you become, it's very interesting your perspective
It song beat JB,Ariana, demi and such massive artist in BBMAs in top social artist award. Justin bieber used to known as holder of Top social artist but now BTS won that award 5 concescutive times with no competition because BTS had about 44M votes and Runner up or 2nd had about 11M votes. If we add other nominated artist votes they still can't beat them.
if this video effects gave you so many questions, you would definitely love their "idol" mv. but I've seen you already know about GCF, so im looking forward to you react to it as well ! I'm definitely going to be back everyday for your new videos.
I’m so exited for this reaction:)
ever since i started watching your reaction videos i learned so many things. match cut, types of cameras and etc lol
you are really cool. im excited for your Mic Drop reaction!!!
Please react to life goes on, Jungkook was the director!
Yeah. DNA finally🤗
Thank youuu💜
You should check out IDOL too.🙂
He exchange Jimin to JK
JK to Jimin 😂 lol I'm crying we are the same 4 years ago 😂
Hmm it is one of most colorful MVs they have. 😉 Not my fav, but it did great for them. Next that is wild is "Idol" MV and this one is mostly CGI and gren screen and effects. 😉 So if you want to watch video when they use technology is this one.
Then Boy with love is also colorful but have like 5 real big sets....
finally you did DNA 🙏🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜
I recommended so many times thank you so much💜💜💜💜🧡🧡🙏🙏💎💎
Tae upside down again
If you're looking to react to other KPOP groups, maybe outside of Hybe, you should definitely check out Mamamoo's Starry Night. It has soo much good camera work and the setting where the MV takes place is also breath taking. I think it's something you would really like.
Yes, Mamamoo has so much worth checking out. For visuals, I’d particularly recommend Décalcomanie, and Hwasa’s Maria.
I’m hoping in time you’ll get to them.
Sir you're glowing today. That's the BTS effect lol
All their music videos are different in every aspect so that the viewers can venture to different visuals of the video all their music videos are very interesting that you will think hard on what is it all about
I want him to react to Epiphany or Mic Drop next.
They usually resort to laser removal of the moustache
I was thinking about it when Alex was thinking about impeccable lights and shadows
Now you should react to idol mv to get more confused . That mv is basically showing middle finger to the haters . You may not understand many aspect so you can watch its explanation video by dkdktv 👍💜💜
Love Yourself Her : Serendipity and DNA being in love
Love Yourself Wonder : Euphoria being somehow being obsess like they only reason for happiness
Her and Wonder is like one
Love Yourself Tears : Singularity and Fake Love realising they lost themselves for loving someone
Love Yourself Answer : Epiphany and Idol Im the one I should love in this world
this is just my thoughts for the love yourself series, I dont know about the others
You should definitely watch their MV TEASERS
Hoping you also reacts to their lights mv and them the behind the scene of that
Thanks 💜
yes i have been waiting for u to react to this
THIS is the song/MV that catapulted BTS into the stratosphere. Ok, the meaning...obviously it can be about two people meant to meet and fall in love. Or ARMY and BTS. Or the 7 members. BTS and Big Hit. Any and/or all? Lol. Take your pick.
I still get a bit emotional remembering how it was such a pivotal moment for them performing this at the AMAs and how much much farther they've come 😭
@@LeilaleilaZ, I was so freakin' proud of them even though at the time I wasn't ARMY yet. I was just happy for what that performance meant for Kpop in general. Then I started paying close attention and finally fell down the rabbit hole fully in 2018.
@@luzcartagena6869 Me too! I wasn't Army yet, but was so proud of them as well.
oh my god finally!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the reaction as always 🥰 aand congrats on 26k aaaaa
AAAA Thanks you!
Jimin wore the collest shoes ever in this video
