For whatever reason rollerblading faded into obscurity, which I never understood, but I'm digressing. ...anyway, many of the tricks Bob does in this Flip video are orders of magnitude more challenging and, frankly crazy, when compared to what people are doing on X-Games in Big Air competition. The skaters in Big Air are absolutely incredible. I don't want to suggest what they do isn't the peak of physical performance. It's also the case that Bob has mastered skating these HUGE ramps in a way no one else has. That's actually still the case. He's one of the greatest skaters to ever live, and probably the best skater ever in this area of skateboarding. He's basically the Rodney Mullen of megaramps.

Having seen this video for the first time after seeing Nigel drop in... has anyone checked to make sure Bob's blood cells aren't actually tiny red helium balloons? I had mad respect for Nigel working up the courage to drop in. Watching this video and finding out what Nigel dropped in on is the landing ramp of a skateboard rocket launcher blew my mind! To top it all off, Bob seems like the coolest, chillest, and nicest person you could ever hope to meet and underneath he is... well you just saw the video.
Well, not quite that path but yeah Nigel's drop in triggered it, then "BOB BURNQUIST AND BRAILLE AT DREAMLAND", and found the "Bob Burnquist full pipe" and now here :)

Watching this makes me realize I’m not doing enough with my life. The ending was incredible. After he grabbed onto the helicopter and almost slipped off as it pulled away and got high above the ramp- holy fuck. He could have died there. But then he killed himself at the end and that was awesome.

It'd be wonderful if a helicopter expert somehow finds this thread and explains the skill needed to fly like that, or links to somewhere that explains it. I know very little about helicopters, but my intuition tells me that what this dude was doing in the helicopter is plausibly on the level of what Burnquist is doing on his skateboard.
@@TheRealFaceyNeck Im most of the way to a private helicopter license, so far from expert but I have some experience. Most people would be shocked at how easily maneuverable small helicopters like that are. Look up videos of helicopter cattle herding, you will see dudes literally whipping the tails just past the cattle and darting all over the place. Thats not to take away from how difficult it is to do things like that. I wouldnt say its on the level of a top of their craft pro, but its certainly something you need a lot of experience and nerves to do. It takes an average student 10 hours just to learn how to hover, meaning just hovering in ground effect without losing it and dying. Takes a hell of a lot more to be truly stable, especially with the center of gravity changes a skateboarder hopping on and off mid flight.

He was sick as a dog and could barely stand but he tried his run anyways, he couldn't land anything without eating shit until his last run in which everything was perfectly bolts like he had been given a winning run from god himself. Seeing him win and try so hard for that xgames made me truely appreciate skateboarding!
