Had the pleasure of building that original vert ramp at Bob's. Plans were scribbled on bar room napkins, lots of cussing & smoking. Turned out to be one of the greatest half pipes ever for one of the greatest skaters ever. Now, it is cemented in stone, as is the memory of the good times building it with friends. Dave Ellis was the mastermind of the project ,we lost Dave over a year ago to leukemia. For me, that ramp is sort of a tombstone for Dave ! Thank you Grindline, for preserving a great time in everyone who was involved lives. Hello Bob, if you read this ? It's Mike Kruse from Florida. DAVE ELLIS, REST IN PEACE, MY FRIEND !

Agreed Pat but wrong analogy- icing on the cake is more apt for Dreamland. Then check both his and Braille's vids for mega board to board transfers- another layer of sponge with sprinkles. Incomparable and untouchable
One of my best moments at a live event was seeing Bob win Very Gold at the Philly X games on his last run. That Blunt kickflip had that arena Buzzing

A couple of years ago my girlfriend and I stopped at a square here in Rio de Janeiro, for an ice cream. We went to check out the bowl and to my surprise Bob was there, practicing alone. He did things in that bowl that in twenty five years of going there I've never seen anyone do! It was amazing for an hour it was just the two of us watching the guy flying and cutting every bit of that concrete structure...

I was at radlands in the UK...probably 93..bob was there and fresh out of Brazil...dude was insane and nobody knew who he was...it was so obvious he was destined for big things.
And he had an sprain ankle on that one, but still shredded.

Coolest thing about bob is not only is he just mental and doing some of the most tech tricks out there, he also does stuff I don't feel like anyone else would think to try. Often they can come off as simplistic or something but the dude is just DIALED... 2:12 front one with no grab is already one of the most terrifying things I could think of on vert, let alone doing it SWITCH over a channel. Pure fuckin finesse!

Danny way and Hawk are amazing legends in their own right...but Bob is the Mecca of Insane vert skaters, his extremely sorry part was ridiculous, and that tre up the quarterpipe and switch back 50 on the rainbow rail at that speed are enough proof of it. Face melters.
It's a holy trinity- Tony, Danny and Bob. Mecca is a destination bro but that's ok as they've all been there and I get where you're coming from: Tony does the 900, Bob does a mega fakie 900; Danny jumps out of a helicopter, Bob jumps onto a helicopter (and then BASE jumps out of it). All 3 are completely intertwined

1997 SOTY is a legend. I´m brazilian and I remember when he exploded in the international contests and I´ve just found his e-mail and wrote him. I was around 15 yo. And for my surprise he answered. That was a real inspiration back than. Thanks Robert Dean Silva Burnquist for all that you bring to the brazilian skateboard!
