Can we say eluent = solvent?

No it is depend on chromatography method.....if we use liquid as mobile phase then we can say eluent=solvent. If we use gas as eluent then we can't say eluent= solvent because mobile phase in gaseous form.
Hence we can say eluent=Mobile phase.
