    Thank you for the ‘touch and go’ versus ‘hanger’ differences. Very logical. Impressive class of yachts. I love the ‘go anywhere’ approach to the explorer class, even though they tend to place function over form. Meaning... I find their size and functionality incredible, but I am less than impressived with their ‘over the top’ bow lines. Thanks for the video.

  • @Big.Ron1

    Now we're talking. I'm not a big fan of the vertical bow looks but understand the advantages to waterline length. It won't break ice very well as it won't slide up on it, then again she isn't an ice breaker but an exploration yacht. My guess is she is hell for stout and I want one. Thank you!
    Note: I just went thru their site. I am impressed. Who would think to have the yacht built with the stern as the ice breaking end. At first I didn't understand until I read that. Amazing. Yes, I definitely want one. Since I'm dreaming, let's go all the way. 105 it is.

    • @kolokolok

      Why is the axe bow preferred over the bulbous bow for explorer applications? and why is the bulbous bow not good at rough-sea conditions? Can you please help me understand? I tried my best to know the difference but couldn't find a professional answer; most were done but people pretending they know the difference.

    I like all this. I retired at 48 having reached the jet and helicopter level. My back-of-the-envelope math says I need about $30mm disposable which would allow a vessel in the 150' range, plus ten years of expenses at the 10% of value estimate. If one or more of my current business interests work well out I might go for it. In the ultimate irony, before retiring I bought 2200 acres, built a high fence all around it, and try hard to never leave. I'd like to get away but after 25 years in business I'd rather not be around people any more than I have to.

      @summitaggregates5404 5 років тому +3

      It's very interesting - only an easterner...or someone from the city would call 2200 acres a lot - in the west --- we measure "A LOT" in Square Miles...anything less than 20 sq miles is a hobby farm. By the way, your numbers are off - you need a comfortable net worth of $1B, to then comfortably be able to justify one of these vessels, which even the smallest 55m are in the $150M acquisition cost. Do the numbers from there, and go to the Damen website - with a full time crew of around 20, anywhere in the world is at least another $1 - 2M(top five crew are making double if not triple the rest of them, so figure closer to $2M/yr)...then the vessel needs to maintain at roughly that amount, and fuel costs are not a small number, but relatively small - linear to usage - but another $1M, so at least $5M/yr - so using your words, ten years, try 30%. 2200 acres, stick with renting a yacht here and there.

    Really interesting product! The exploration charter business seems to be growing right now with more offerings. But I really couldn't call a larger than 35m yacht a "go anywhere" one. Of course you have the "toys" and tenders, but there is a difference to having your mother ship anchored 2 miles away vs 0.5 mile.

    On the positive I do appreciate a boat that is actually meant for sailing, and not to be put on display in a marina.

    Nice. But how about a small nuclear reactor? These reactors are in development, basically the concept is to build the reactor in a factory and then ship it out to wherever it is needed. Those things aim for the size of a few shipping containers so a larger yacht could be able to hold one.

      @@thatguy7091 The whole reactor assembly goes back to the factory, they overhaul it and take the spent fuel rods out. After processing the rods the freed plutonium is food for fast breeder reactors producing much electricity and leaving no serious radioactive waste. There are many different options how to design nuclear reactors and different options to deal with spent fuel which do not require storage for aeons. The waste problem is mostly solved in terms of science and technology and was never that big to begin with. On a yacht you might one day run a molten salt reactor anyways - working with liquid nuclear fuel.

    • @thatguy7091
      @thatguy7091 5 років тому

      @@wearandtear6692 removing a nuclear reactor out of a yacht seems very difficult as you cant just turn these things on and off also the thing is having a nuclear reactor means you have to pump an extreme amount of water to cool it which would not sit well with a marina.

Yeah, so just go ahead & put me down for two, so I can have spare parts or if I just wanna brings a ton of friends when I go fishing with my dogs. Payment wise I can do about $450 maybe $475 a month for about 4 years works well for me. Don’t worry, I’m still gonna put a $500 buck downpayment. Maybe $1000 depending on if my jobs direct deposit hits in time. Just draw up the contracts & i’ll swing by the office to sign, say on Tuesday, next week good for you? Great! Ya know, this was easier than I thought. Folks always say that buying a fishing boat takes a long time. Well, with all the research n stuff. I just need to adjust my truck hitch so I can pull her home in my F350! Wow are my 3 dogs gonna love this! You my friend are one hell of a salesman. Gonna throw in a nice good tip for you, maybe $5 or $10 bucks! BALLIN!!!
